A ļ¬rst-generation entrepreneur who envisioned and
established APPL Industries Limited 26 years ago,
Mr. Inder Jain, has successfully spearheaded the company
over the years to take it to its pinnacle as ā€˜the largest
polymer compound manufacturerā€™. Nearly three decades
and many struggles later, Mr. Inder Jain has aced his way in
creating a benchmark in the industry.
Born at Mandar, Rajasthan, he completed his Graduation
from Sirohi, Rajasthan after which he moved to Delhi at a
young age to work alongside his Uncle who was in the
business of polymers. Having no prior experience, this
learning was the platform on which Mr. Jain laid the
foundation of APPL in the early years.
Mr. Jain has always maintained a perfect balance between
his professional and social life. He strongly believes in
giving back to the society, and for that he has been actively
involved in social work and has been associated with

Engineered Thermoplastic Compounds, Engineering
Plastics, Color & Speciality Additive Master Batches thus
establishing our self as a top performing compounder with
multiple product range and developing new applications
close to OEMs and associated sectors of Automotive,
Railway, Defence, Furniture & House Hold.

technology to our customers and ensuring to meet the
challenging and ever-increasing market demands.
- To respect the strength and capability of our employees,
customers, and associates.
- To honour all the commitments we undertake.
Challenges in the Industry
APPL has been at the forefront in witnessing the evolution
of the industry that includes changes, challenges,
opportunities, and more. Previously, the automotive
regulatory were not stringent as compared to todayā€™s
environment. Steadily, as companies abide by the
guidelines and regulations set by the Government and
industry, the quality of the products have improved to a
great extent. With rigorous emission norms in place, other
key factors like lightweight, fuel eļ¬ƒciency, passenger and
pedestrian safety will play a key role in the auto industry.
From the perspective of compounders, this drives mature
companies like APPL to explore every innovation and keep
introducing new products and technologies. There are
multiple scopes of improvement and improvisation for the
interiors, exteriors, and under hood applications in the
automotive segment.
The Roadmap Ahead
Holding a very optimistic view of the future, APPL stands
tall to embrace changes and walk the path ahead with grit
and conļ¬dence. Team APPL believes that with proper
regulations in place, plastic is never going to diminish
rather will evolve as the biggest circular economy alongside

As one of the fastest growing global markets, the
Indian Plastic Industry continues to depict a steady
trajectory in terms of production and contribution
to the economy. From the traditional households to the
modern society of today, housewares have always existed
as a major product category in the marketplace. With
Government reforms and initiatives, the largely
unorganized industry is slowly and steadily embracing the
mainstream that ultimately helps to increase the quality
standards across the industry.
In its perseverance of upscale quality products, Prime
Housewares Ltd is one of the giants in this sector that
needs no introduction! Incorporated in 1989, this entity
carries a legacy and has been a witness of the transition
taken place in the industry.
The gradual advent of urbanization, proliferation of nuclear
families and technological advancement has driven the
evolution of change amongst the Indian household.
Innovations in time-saving devices and cookware,
convenience, safety & functionality are now driving the
sales ļ¬gures. With its constant endeavour to develop,
modify & innovate novel products specially with respect to
aesthetics and customer needs, Prime has been at the
forefront in embracing changes to the core!
Prime is also the pioneer in the microwave cooking range in
India. Anticipating the future and the paradigm shift
towards technology, it has been immensely successful in
creating niche products that are convenient, easy to use &
time saving. Prime continues to be associated with major
brands like L.G. Electronics, Godrej, Samsung, Bajaj,
Morphy Richards, Whirlpool, and Onida for providing
Microwave & Refrigerator Kits.
The Inception Saga
The journey commenced with a 5000 sq.ft. factory in the
industrial hub of Daman, with a seed capital of 50 lakhs and
an initial product list comprising just 20 SKUs. In 1989, the
plastic industry was largely unorganized and majorly dealt
in cash transactions. With an intent to reform and align the
sector with the main-stream organized industry, Prime was
a non-competitive player from a price point-of-view and
hence had to face countless obstacles to penetrate the
market.
The major break-through came in 1995 when Prime
introduced the ā€˜Rioā€™ basket product line. By virtue of
superior quality and novelty, these products were sold
above MRP by dealers / distributors & there used to be
waiting of one month for execution of orders. This was the
turning-point for Prime and as we say - ā€˜the rest is historyā€™.
The remarkable journey is represented along with the
numerous milestones it has achieved till date.
1995: Rio Maxi ā€“ Rio Basket replaced the popular ā€˜Cycle
Basketsā€™ with new multiutility & completely closed
version baskets.
1996: Tiny Tot Containers with spoon ā€“ Replacing the
small mouth jars with wide mouth containers
thereby making it easy for cleaning.

than 10 minutes.
1998: Microwave Zatā€“Pat Idli maker ā€“ making 24 Idlis in
just 4 minutes.
2000: Bucket / Tub ā€“ Replacing the metal Handles with
plastic handle bucket and also changing the colors
and pattern from traditional Red / blue / green to
new vibrant colors.
2002: Shoppe Basket ā€“ Replacing the earlier design & size
with sizes to accommodate tiļ¬ƒn box and water
bottle of school going children.
2005: Introduced cleaning products ā€“ Replacing the low
quality cleaning products with high quality &
aļ¬€ordable products.
2008: Hyper Basket ā€“ Introducing basket for Modern retail
in store.
2011: Zara Cloth Pegs ā€“ Replacing the orthodox metal
spring pegs with all plastic rust free Pegs, with
much more durability.
2014: Vintage canisters ā€“ Replacing the steel Tea, Coļ¬€ee,
Sugar containers with vintage ceramic looking
plastic canisters.
2016: Bag Hanger ā€“ special shape hanger that protects the
bag from wear and tear and also saves space in the
wardrobe.
2018: Introduced household products imported from
Turkey ā€“ Launched unique pedal laundry bin.
Prime has been a forerunner in embracing changes ahead of
time. This has helped the company to attain instant
recognition, acceptance & popularity amongst the trade &
consumers in the shortest possible time. Today its products
are stylish, modern and come with a contemporary look.
Incorporating the market demands and changing consumer
needs, it manufactures products that are appealing to the
eye along with having uniqueness and smart features. It has
registered several designs & patents with the Trade Mark &
Patents Authority. The company has consciously &
carefully nourished & built intellectual property rights
around its innovative products.
Challenges ahead
The big challenge that the company is facing in current
times is the lack of awareness & knowledge, of good or bad
plastic & the health implications associated with it. Due to
the government & media coverage, all plastic products have
come under the scanner for being bad for health, which is
not the case. People world over are using it & the
convenience that plastic oļ¬€ers cannot be substituted. It is
important to educate the customers about the various grades
of plastic available and the correct recycling practices that
need to be employed.
The Leading Light

is all set to penetrate other important markets by associating
with well-known players in the industry.

Nowadays we are living in a
world where earth is being
polluted in many ways by
human actions like air pollution, water
pollution and noise pollution. Since our
school days we are being studying
about the pollution and its hazardous
eļ¬€ects to globe. Due to cutting oļ¬€
trees, increase in rate of air pollution
we are now facing the issues like
global warming, uncertain climatic
changes, irregular rainfalls etc. We
ourselves are responsible for the
happenings and uncertainties. Addition
to this we are also facing the problem
of plastic pollution as it is being used
in our day to day life on large scale.
Excessive use of plastic is now
becoming hazardous which is leading
to pollution and harmful eļ¬€ects on
globe as plastic is non-biodegradable.
When plastic is being thrown on
ground it reduces the fertility of the
soil. Also when it is dumped in water
the life in water gets aļ¬€ected. The
small particles of plastic may get
mixed with the water which is being
used for drinking and that may be
harmful to the health of and individual
or animals. It is a material that lasts
forever and never goes oļ¬€. It just
breaks down smaller.
To avoid this hazardous and harmful
eļ¬€ects of plastic we should take some
corrective actions like Recycling of
Plastic. This may help in reduce the
pollution which is createad out of
plastic and instead of dumping it in
grounds or in water reuse it. Their are
number of ways through which plastic
can be reused at individual level and
ultimately help to reduce pollution.
Each and every individual should take
the responsibility of reducing the
pollution and contributing his or her
part to save the earth from harmful
eļ¬€ects.
Plastic recycling is nothing but to
collect diļ¬€erent plastic materials and
then reprocess it into variety of
products that can be again made
available for use. Before recycling any
of the plastic waste, it has to go
through ļ¬ve diļ¬€erent stages :
Sorting: Plastic is being sorted out
according to its type and making so
that it will be helpful to process it
accordingly in shredding machine.
Washing: After the sorting process the
plastic wastes has to be washed
properly to remove the impurities like
adhesives or labels. This help to
increase the quality of ļ¬nished product.
Shredding: Once the product is
washed it is then forwarded for
shredding. In Shredding process, waste

manufacturing and will continue to remain a catalyst for
re-imagining options for plastic parts. With desktop 3D

  • 19. As one of the fastest growing global markets, the Indian Plastic Industry continues to depict a steady trajectory in terms of production and contribution to the economy. From the traditional households to the modern society of today, housewares have always existed as a major product category in the marketplace. With Government reforms and initiatives, the largely unorganized industry is slowly and steadily embracing the mainstream that ultimately helps to increase the quality standards across the industry. In its perseverance of upscale quality products, Prime Housewares Ltd is one of the giants in this sector that needs no introduction! Incorporated in 1989, this entity carries a legacy and has been a witness of the transition taken place in the industry. The gradual advent of urbanization, proliferation of nuclear families and technological advancement has driven the evolution of change amongst the Indian household. Innovations in time-saving devices and cookware, convenience, safety & functionality are now driving the sales ļ¬gures. With its constant endeavour to develop, modify & innovate novel products specially with respect to aesthetics and customer needs, Prime has been at the forefront in embracing changes to the core! Prime is also the pioneer in the microwave cooking range in India. Anticipating the future and the paradigm shift towards technology, it has been immensely successful in creating niche products that are convenient, easy to use & time saving. Prime continues to be associated with major brands like L.G. Electronics, Godrej, Samsung, Bajaj, Morphy Richards, Whirlpool, and Onida for providing Microwave & Refrigerator Kits. The Inception Saga The journey commenced with a 5000 sq.ft. factory in the industrial hub of Daman, with a seed capital of 50 lakhs and an initial product list comprising just 20 SKUs. In 1989, the plastic industry was largely unorganized and majorly dealt in cash transactions. With an intent to reform and align the sector with the main-stream organized industry, Prime was a non-competitive player from a price point-of-view and hence had to face countless obstacles to penetrate the market. The major break-through came in 1995 when Prime introduced the ā€˜Rioā€™ basket product line. By virtue of superior quality and novelty, these products were sold above MRP by dealers / distributors & there used to be waiting of one month for execution of orders. This was the turning-point for Prime and as we say - ā€˜the rest is historyā€™. The remarkable journey is represented along with the numerous milestones it has achieved till date. 1995: Rio Maxi ā€“ Rio Basket replaced the popular ā€˜Cycle Basketsā€™ with new multiutility & completely closed version baskets. 1996: Tiny Tot Containers with spoon ā€“ Replacing the small mouth jars with wide mouth containers thereby making it easy for cleaning. A UNANIMOUS CHOICE FOR EVERY HOUSEHOLD PRIME HOUSEWARES Life Bana De Easy ā€˜ā€˜ ā€˜ā€˜ Company Of The Month 17 | July 2019 |
  • 20. 1997: Rice Cooker ā€“ Making pre-soaked rice ready in less than 10 minutes. 1998: Microwave Zatā€“Pat Idli maker ā€“ making 24 Idlis in just 4 minutes. 2000: Bucket / Tub ā€“ Replacing the metal Handles with plastic handle bucket and also changing the colors and pattern from traditional Red / blue / green to new vibrant colors. 2002: Shoppe Basket ā€“ Replacing the earlier design & size with sizes to accommodate tiļ¬ƒn box and water bottle of school going children. 2005: Introduced cleaning products ā€“ Replacing the low quality cleaning products with high quality & aļ¬€ordable products. 2008: Hyper Basket ā€“ Introducing basket for Modern retail in store. 2011: Zara Cloth Pegs ā€“ Replacing the orthodox metal spring pegs with all plastic rust free Pegs, with much more durability. 2014: Vintage canisters ā€“ Replacing the steel Tea, Coļ¬€ee, Sugar containers with vintage ceramic looking plastic canisters. 2016: Bag Hanger ā€“ special shape hanger that protects the bag from wear and tear and also saves space in the wardrobe. 2018: Introduced household products imported from Turkey ā€“ Launched unique pedal laundry bin. Prime has been a forerunner in embracing changes ahead of time. This has helped the company to attain instant recognition, acceptance & popularity amongst the trade & consumers in the shortest possible time. Today its products are stylish, modern and come with a contemporary look. Incorporating the market demands and changing consumer needs, it manufactures products that are appealing to the eye along with having uniqueness and smart features. It has registered several designs & patents with the Trade Mark & Patents Authority. The company has consciously & carefully nourished & built intellectual property rights around its innovative products. Challenges ahead The big challenge that the company is facing in current times is the lack of awareness & knowledge, of good or bad plastic & the health implications associated with it. Due to the government & media coverage, all plastic products have come under the scanner for being bad for health, which is not the case. People world over are using it & the convenience that plastic oļ¬€ers cannot be substituted. It is important to educate the customers about the various grades of plastic available and the correct recycling practices that need to be employed. The Leading Light Prime was started by two brothers Mr Surendra Sanganeria & Mr Jitendra Agarwal. Now as the Managing Director of Something New for you Always ā€˜ā€˜ā€˜ā€˜ 18 | July 2019 |

When plastic is being thrown on ground it reduces the fertility of the soil. Also when it is dumped in water the life in water gets aļ¬€ected. The small particles of plastic may get mixed with the water which is being used for drinking and that may be harmful to the health of and individual or animals. It is a material that lasts forever and never goes oļ¬€. It just breaks down smaller. To avoid this hazardous and harmful eļ¬€ects of plastic we should take some corrective actions like Recycling of Plastic. This may help in reduce the pollution which is createad out of plastic and instead of dumping it in grounds or in water reuse it. Their are number of ways through which plastic can be reused at individual level and ultimately help to reduce pollution. Each and every individual should take the responsibility of reducing the pollution and contributing his or her part to save the earth from harmful eļ¬€ects. Plastic recycling is nothing but to collect diļ¬€erent plastic materials and then reprocess it into variety of products that can be again made available for use. Before recycling any of the plastic waste, it has to go through ļ¬ve diļ¬€erent stages : Sorting: Plastic is being sorted out according to its type and making so that it will be helpful to process it accordingly in shredding machine. Washing: After the sorting process the plastic wastes has to be washed properly to remove the impurities like adhesives or labels. This help to increase the quality of ļ¬nished product. Shredding: Once the product is washed it is then forwarded for shredding. In Shredding process, waste are loaded on diļ¬€erent conveyer belts which run waste through diļ¬€erent shredders which tear up the plastic into small pellets and preparing it for recycling of other product. Identiļ¬cation and Classiļ¬cation: In order to ascertain the quality a proper testing is done of plastic pellets. Extruding : This process involves melting of the shredded plastic so that it can be extruded in pellets then they are used for making diļ¬€erent types of products. Some of the ways to reuse the plastic are being mentioned below which would help to reduce the pollution. This are home made ways which can help to reuse the plastic in diļ¬€erent useful ways. Home made ways or techniques to Recycle the Plastic: ā€¢ The person can use his creativity for making diļ¬€erent household articles out of plastic. It may be reuse of old bottles for making snack container. ā€¢ or reusing it for planting the plants and using the bottle as sprinkler in garden. ā€¢ Making a pen-holder. Above mentioned are just some illustrations which can help you out to get some ideas and use your skills for recycling of plastic and take initiative towards reducing the ill eļ¬€ects of the same in the environment.
