KEY ACADEMIC PROJECTS & SEMINARS
ELECTROCHEMICAL CYCLING AND IN-SITU STRESS MEASUREMENT OF THIN FILM CATHODES FOR LI-ION BATTERIES
M.Tech project, Advisor- Prof. Amartya Mukhopadhyay, Department of MEMS, IIT Bombay [Ongoing]
 Completed one course on Nanomaterials for Advanced Electrochemical Energy Storage and Conversion & doing
another course on Electrochemical Reaction Engineering to understand basic principles
 Reviewed extensively the details of cathode materials for Li-ion batteries through literature survey
 Got trained to handle 4-Target E-beam Evaporation (4TEBE) & Pulsed Laser Deposition (PLD) system to deposit
thin films of current collector & cathode in Centre of Excellence in Nano-electronics(CEN) at IIT Bombay
 Deposited thin films of LiCoO2 by two different methods (Sol-gel spin coating & PLD) to obtain films with different
crystallographic orientations & designed the custom made cell
 Analysed the datas of structural & electrochemical characterization & in-situ stress measurement (by multi-beam
optical stress sensor) to determine its performance
FUTURE PLAN: To fabricate thin film of cathode materials with different stoichiometry to get better insights into their
effects on the lithiation/dellithiation & also to adopt some measures to minimize the stresses in the films
SYNTHESIS & CHARACTERIZATION OF ALUMINA-FLY ASH COMPOSITE FOR THERMAL POWER PLANT APPLICATION
B.Tech. project, Advisor-Prof. Ram Chandra Das, Department of Ceramic Technology, GCECT [Jun’10-May’11]
 Examined the need of this composite in thermal power plant
 Extensively scrutinized literature on the raw materials that were used to fabricate the composite
 Synthesized samples by using different proportion of raw materials & performed testings & characterizations
 Suggested a low cost material with superior properties for using in the proposed area
PHOSPHORS FOR FLUORESCENT LIGHTING APPLICATION [Jan’14-Apr’14]
M.Tech. Seminar, Advisor-Prof. Parag Bhargava, Department of MEMS, IIT Bombay
 Critically looked into physics of light generation in FLs, CFLs & LEDs & thoroughly studied working principles,
fabrication, coating techniques & the applications of phosphors in the light emitting sources
 Investigated factors & issues affecting properties of phosphors for an improved quality light generation
GRAPHENE BASED TRANSPARENT STRAIN SENSOR [Jan’14-Apr’14]
M.Tech. Course seminar, Advisor-Prof. S.P. Duttagupta, Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Bombay
 Explored literature in detail on fabrication of few layer graphene & its transfer to a substrate
 Studied working principle & key technological requirements of a strain sensor
 Analyzed salient features of the fabrication steps & design of a strain sensor
