Previous Slide shows what changes (new policies, budget)happened in rural water supply and sanitation in India
But still India didn’t succeed in giving clean drinking water and proper sanitation facilities to all its citizens.
Impact
• Wastewater (70% of total wastewater) not being treated find its way into local rivers and
streams leading to pollution.
• Unsafe disposal of human excreta facilitates the transmission of oral-fecal diseases,
including diarrhea and a range of intestinal worm infections such as hookworm and
roundworm.
• All this waterborne disease led to malnutrition and death.
• India is losing billions of dollars each year because of poor sanitation.
• The economic toll is also apparent in terms of water treatment costs, losses in fisheries
production and tourism.
• Welfare impacts, such as reduced school attendance, inconvenience, wasted time, and lack
of privacy and security for women led to social disturbance
Poor Sanitation Reasons
• We failed in providing environmentally-safe sanitation as per India’s most ambitious goal of
providing “sanitation for all”” by 2012 established under total sanitation program . An
estimated 55% of all Indians, or close to 600 million people, still do not have access to any
kind of toilet.
• India may be “on track” in achieving the MDG sanitation target but access to improved
sanitation remains far lower in India compared to many other countries with similar, or
even lower, per capita gross domestic product.
• 74% of the rural population still defecates in the open.
• 700,000 Indians still make their living by collecting excreta which is officially banned in
India.
• Only 30% of India’s wastewater is being treated.
Impact
• In spite having 4 constitutional laws for providing clean and safe drinking to citizens of our
country , India is performing low in this area.
• Speaking of clean water, even in many areas of India, there is no availability of water.
• The rapid pace of industrialization and greater emphasis on agricultural growth led to
pollution and over-exploitation of our water and water resources.
• Generation of large quantities of waste and pollution makes water polluted and result in a
unclean environment.
• Non-enforcement of laws makes the condition more pathetic.
• Non-uniform distribution of rainfall, floods , droughts also affect in water availability.
• The non-uniformity in level of awareness, socio-economic development, education,
poverty, practices and rituals and water availability add complexity in meeting drinking
water needs.
• Around 37.7 million Indians are affected by waterborne diseases annually, 1.5 million
children are estimated to die of diarrhea alone .
• 73 million working days are lost due to waterborne disease each year. All this diseases
result in economic burden of $600 million a year.
• 1,95,813 habitations in the country are affected by poor water quality.
• 66 million Indians are at risk due to excess fluoride and 10 million due to excess arsenic in
groundwater.
• Water Based Diseases, Water related Diseases, Water Washed Diseases also led to large
number of deaths.
• Education, Employment, Health, Happiness, Social Life, Proper living all get affected due to
dirty water or non-availability of water.
Reasons for No Clean Drinking Water
Teams at each and every level of a committee will really help in a matter which can not be accomplished by having a one team
which checks the whole process.
Committee Model
Implementation Model
Committee will be formed at each and every level of the organizational work so that proper work will happen in every part.
Every area will get a committee which is responsible for the work at that area.
There are committee’s which will govern and see their work and suggest changes from time to time.
100% guarantee of proper work of this model.
Every committee has its own structure which will fulfill the need of clean water and proper sanitization.
Local Committee will pass a budget according to them needed for providing clean water and proper sanitazation.
This budget will get across through two higher level committee and after all the changes will go in lok sabha.
Committee will have a engineer, architect, consultant and a whole team which will see all the working of committee.
Advantage
It will surely improve water quality, develop sanitation over that area, manage waste water.
This all will lead to a healthy environment which will help in better employment of citizens which lead to education at that area.
In this model, we will get to see development according to committee which will show us results as per the area, by which we
can see which committee’s are working and which are not.

•The best solution to provide clean water and proper drainage system to peoples is to implement
above given solution as it includes monitoring of each and every work which is happening.
•Above given solution will led to increase in total no. of employment which will led to some
financial problem, but if we make 1 less toilet in all the villages and use that money for proper and
commissioned all other work, then we can make two other toilets in all the villages.
Implementation
•Government should provide some technological assistance so that speed of the work increases.
•Government should provide money required for running the whole system efficiently.
•Proper transportation of water through Pipeline or through other transportation should be there.
Government
Infrastructure
•Mainly other than the government , NGO’s ,Industrialists and other organizations give fund which
can be used for the work.
•Innovative partnerships must be forged to stimulate investments, for ex. 1) Sulabh
International’s Pay-and-Use Approach 2) Socialized Community Fund-Raising in Orissa

State Team
District Team
 Central team gives instruction and work to state teams which give work to district teams. So it is a
three- tier process where district team is always follows up by state team and which is followed
up by central team.
 Even central team give money or passes bills of state team by which it can do further work.
 India will spent $38 billion in its 12th five year plan (2012-2017) which implies $2.2 billion for
urban areas and $1.65 billion for rural areas annually.
 We will recruit the people according to the post and their knowledge so that we will get best out
of them and by that we can work very faster and efficiently.
 People only with proper qualification should be taken in that particular team.

  • 3. Previous Slide shows what changes (new policies, budget)happened in rural water supply and sanitation in India But still India didn’t succeed in giving clean drinking water and proper sanitation facilities to all its citizens. Impact • Wastewater (70% of total wastewater) not being treated find its way into local rivers and streams leading to pollution. • Unsafe disposal of human excreta facilitates the transmission of oral-fecal diseases, including diarrhea and a range of intestinal worm infections such as hookworm and roundworm. • All this waterborne disease led to malnutrition and death. • India is losing billions of dollars each year because of poor sanitation. • The economic toll is also apparent in terms of water treatment costs, losses in fisheries production and tourism. • Welfare impacts, such as reduced school attendance, inconvenience, wasted time, and lack of privacy and security for women led to social disturbance Poor Sanitation Reasons • We failed in providing environmentally-safe sanitation as per India’s most ambitious goal of providing “sanitation for all”” by 2012 established under total sanitation program . An estimated 55% of all Indians, or close to 600 million people, still do not have access to any kind of toilet. • India may be “on track” in achieving the MDG sanitation target but access to improved sanitation remains far lower in India compared to many other countries with similar, or even lower, per capita gross domestic product. • 74% of the rural population still defecates in the open. • 700,000 Indians still make their living by collecting excreta which is officially banned in India. • Only 30% of India’s wastewater is being treated. Impact • In spite having 4 constitutional laws for providing clean and safe drinking to citizens of our country , India is performing low in this area. • Speaking of clean water, even in many areas of India, there is no availability of water. • The rapid pace of industrialization and greater emphasis on agricultural growth led to pollution and over-exploitation of our water and water resources. • Generation of large quantities of waste and pollution makes water polluted and result in a unclean environment. • Non-enforcement of laws makes the condition more pathetic. • Non-uniform distribution of rainfall, floods , droughts also affect in water availability. • The non-uniformity in level of awareness, socio-economic development, education, poverty, practices and rituals and water availability add complexity in meeting drinking water needs. • Around 37.7 million Indians are affected by waterborne diseases annually, 1.5 million children are estimated to die of diarrhea alone . • 73 million working days are lost due to waterborne disease each year. All this diseases result in economic burden of $600 million a year. • 1,95,813 habitations in the country are affected by poor water quality. • 66 million Indians are at risk due to excess fluoride and 10 million due to excess arsenic in groundwater. • Water Based Diseases, Water related Diseases, Water Washed Diseases also led to large number of deaths. • Education, Employment, Health, Happiness, Social Life, Proper living all get affected due to dirty water or non-availability of water. Reasons for No Clean Drinking Water
  • 4. Teams at each and every level of a committee will really help in a matter which can not be accomplished by having a one team which checks the whole process. Committee Model Implementation Model Committee will be formed at each and every level of the organizational work so that proper work will happen in every part. Advantage It will surely improve water quality, develop sanitation over that area, manage waste water. This all will lead to a healthy environment which will help in better employment of citizens which lead to education at that area. In this model, we will get to see development according to committee which will show us results as per the area, by which we can see which committee’s are working and which are not.

  • 8. •The best solution to provide clean water and proper drainage system to peoples is to implement above given solution as it includes monitoring of each and every work which is happening. •Above given solution will led to increase in total no. of employment which will led to some financial problem, but if we make 1 less toilet in all the villages and use that money for proper and commissioned all other work, then we can make two other toilets in all the villages. Implementation •Government should provide some technological assistance so that speed of the work increases. •Government should provide money required for running the whole system efficiently. •Proper transportation of water through Pipeline or through other transportation should be there. Government Infrastructure •Mainly other than the government , NGO’s ,Industrialists and other organizations give fund which can be used for the work. •Innovative partnerships must be forged to stimulate investments, for ex. 1) Sulabh International’s Pay-and-Use Approach 2) Socialized Community Fund-Raising in Orissa Funding source Central team State Team District Team  Central team gives instruction and work to state teams which give work to district teams. So it is a three- tier process where district team is always follows up by state team and which is followed up by central team.  Even central team give money or passes bills of state team by which it can do further work.  India will spent $38 billion in its 12th five year plan (2012-2017) which implies $2.2 billion for urban areas and $1.65 billion for rural areas annually.  We will recruit the people according to the post and their knowledge so that we will get best out of them and by that we can work very faster and efficiently.  People only with proper qualification should be taken in that particular team.
