5. Assignment
Give a speech to inform
Tell your audience in detail about a fellow classmate
Assignment Emphasis
Eye contact
Using the activity sheet with your partner, learn about
his/her interest, background, and ideas; then reverse the
roles
Specific purpose is tell the audience what qualities make your
partner special
Look through the information and decide for yourself why the
person is unique or special

6. Speech Arrangement
I. Introduce your partner by stating the name slowly and clearly
II. Tell why your partner is unique, giving specific details and reasons
III. State your partner’s background

7. Rehearse
Memorize only three things in your speech
Memorize your first sentence in the introduction
Memorize your concluding statement
Memorize the order or sequence of main points in your
speech
(Never learn your speech verbatim)
8. Present
When called on:
Partner walks to front of room and writes name on
whiteboard, then sits down
Speaker then walks up, hands in activity sheet and
presents speech
Face audience
Pause
Look right at the audience
Give speech loudly as rehearsed
When finished, pause, and walk with poise back to your seat
be businesslike and pleasant; do not show nervousness by
giggling or making awkward noises
