To Whom It May Concern:
I am so pleased to write this letter of recommendation for Ian McLeod. Ian is one of the most
positive, giving and thoughtful students I have ever had the pleasure of working with. He would be
a fantastic match for your company and the goals of the program.
Ian is a strong leader on our campus. He was one of the Community Assistants for the Palo Verde
East residence hall, and in this role has worked hard to increase staff satisfaction and a positive
experience for his first year residents. Ian leads through personal relationships – building rapport
comes easy for him and as a leader, it is a powerful motivational tool. He understands the
importance of buy-in, and works hard to build consensus and team unity in the groups that he
works with. His fellow Community Assistants appreciate him for his encouraging spirit, his
flexibility, and his openness to new ideas.
His leadership within the Palo Verde East residence hall has been impressive as a returning staff
member. Only our top students are selected for these positions, and Ian has stood out among his
peers this year. He works to build community on her floor, and within the Engineering Residential
Community. He has done a great deal of education with students about social issues and wellness
for the community, as well as collaborating with fellow student leaders in Engineering to provide an
academic component to the community.
However, student involvement and leadership are not his only strengths. Ian is dedicated to his
studies and is able to effectively manage his academics along with the many other things he is
involved in. He is well liked among her peers, well-respected among faculty and staff, and achieves
greatness in all the things he involves himself in. When it comes to things like concern for the
welfare of others, building inclusive environments and influencing others in a positive manner, there
is no student I would rate higher than Ian.
I give Ian my highest recommendation and would be happy to speak with you on any additional
information that you might need. Please feel free to call me at (408) 965-2638 or email at
