1. To Whom it May Concern:
My name is Bailey Cool and I am the Administrative Coordinator for the Dell Social Innovation
Challenge. The Dell Social Innovation Challenge identifies and supports promising young social
innovators who dedicate themselves to solving the world's most pressing problems with their
transformative ideas. We provide university students with world-class teaching and training, as
well as with start-up capital and access to a network of mentors and advisors..
It is my pleasure to recommend Daniel Turikumwe for this program based on his involvement in
the Dell Social Innovation Challengeʼs Ambassador Program. He gave us a glimpse into his
journey as a DSIC Student Ambassador as he educated fellow classmates about our
competition, facilitated campus meetings and events, and held personal mentoring sessions
with students to help them navigate the DSIC website and enter their great ideas. Once he was
selected as a DSIC Student Ambassador, he organized a campus-wide event and invited
different Rwandan entrepreneurship experts to speak. Daniel expresses that the event went well
and left him with awesome event-planning experience and that he was able to connect with
high-profile Rwandan entrepreneurs and learn more about their inspiring stories. Danielʼs
university management was so impressed with his initiative so they encouraged Daniel to
become a member of the university student government!
He has the unique combination of education and real-world experience to thrive in this program,
while contributing to the learning experience of others. Daniel is passionate about teaching all of
the students he works with, no matter if their strengths lie in academics, the arts, or
entrepreneurship. He has a goal and desire to reach each student individually, making sure they
succeed, by creating an inclusive environment for them to feel welcome. He makes it a priority
to engage in the world around him by using current events and primary sources in his event
planning. Daniel exerts an approachable confidence that makes him easy to communicate with
and a pleasure to work with. I am enormously pleased with his hard work and he is a vital part in
making our organization function. I have no doubt that he will apply this same determination and
passion in any job he is given, especially working with global ideas and his peers.
Sincerely,
Bailey Cool
