3. Quality Criteria in Qualitative Research
• It's about safety, delivering on a promise and meeting the very basics
of customer expectations. But, by meeting quality
standards, companies often reap better profits and reduce losses.
Those that exceed quality standards stand out above their
competitors and further their potential for profit and consumer
loyalty.

4. Reliability,
• Reliability in qualitative research refers to the stability of responses
to multiple coders of data sets. It can be enhanced by detailed field
notes by using recording devices and by transcribing the digital files.
However, validity in qualitative research might have different terms
than in quantitative research.
DR. PRACHI AJIT
5. Validity,
• Validity is therefore achieved when using the method of open-
ended, unstructured interviews with strategically chosen
participants. We also know that a thorough description of the entire
research process enabling unconditional intersubjectivity is what
indicates good quality when using a qualitative method.
DR. PRACHI AJIT
6. Objectivity
• In its purest sense, the idea of objectivity assumes that a truth or
independent reality exists outside of any investigation or
observation. The researcher's task in this model is to uncover this
reality without contaminating it in any way.
DR. PRACHI AJIT
7. Alternative Criteria
• Alternative research methods
differ from quantitative and
qualitative data by focusing
primarily on data that is not
based off of fact-based
research. Instead, the data that
is collected is usually based off
of individual's experiences and
does not normally have to be
"proved".

8. Criteria for Evaluating the Building of Theories,
• The seven criteria for
theory evaluation
are scope, logical
consistency, parsimony,
utility, testability, heurism
and test of time.

10. Triangulation,
• Triangulation refers to the use of
multiple methods or data sources in
qualitative research to develop a
comprehensive understanding of
phenomena (Patton, 1999).
Triangulation also has been viewed as
a qualitative research strategy to test
validity through the convergence of
information from different sources.

11. Analytic Induction
• Analytic induction (AI) is a research logic used to guide data
collection, develop analysis, and organize the presentation of
research findings.
• Analytic induction involves using the concept of iterative hypothesis
testing. The data (case set) is examined, and specific hypotheses are
developed, which are tested against other cases. The hypothesis is
validated or rejected in an iterative fashion.
