Wind Power is environmental friendly, emission free green source of energy and presently is growing in the fastest pace. Recent development concentrates at integrating doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) based wind power source coupled with capacitive flexible alternating current transmission system (FACTS) controllers suitable for long distance power transfer. However the extensive use of series capacitive compensators is faced with challenges of subsynchronous resonance (SSR) phenomenon which leads to turbine generator shaft failure if not prevented. This paper presents two methods of damping SSR phenomenon using gate controlled series capacitor (GCSC) and thyrister controlled series capacitor (TCSC)
