Urgent care centers are increasingly adopting telemedicine services to enhance patient care and attract new patients. A survey of 930 urgent care centers found that while nearly all (97%) use teleradiology, only 24% currently offer other telemedicine services. However, most centers believe telemedicine could help them join insurance networks and attract patients. Dermatology, psychiatry and neurology are specialty areas centers express most interest in providing via telemedicine. No single telemedicine provider currently dominates the urgent care market. The use of telemedicine in urgent care centers is expected to grow as specialists are increasingly consulted virtually to benefit patients.
