RESEARCH DESIGN, METHODOLOGY AND AGENDA
OF THE PROJECT
1. Introduction
 Research is the primary tool
used in virtually all areas of
science to expand the frontiers
of knowledge.
2. The most common types of
Research
a) Corelational research
 In correlational research, the
goal is to determine whether
two or more variables are
related.
b) Experimental research
 A study that compares two
groups in one specific result
measure to test several
hypotheses regarding
causation.
A. Reseach Desin and Methodology
3. Science and Research Methodology
 Science can be defined as a methodological and
systematic approach to the acquisition of new
knowledge.
 The science and methodology is best thought of as an
approach to the acquisition of new knowledge, and this
approach effectively distinguishes science from
nonscience.
 It is a set of research principles and methods that helps
researchers obtain valid results from their research
studies.
4. Scientific Methods
a) Empirical approach : is an evidence-based approach that relies on
direct observation and experimentation in the acquisition of new
knowledge.
b) Observation : the purpose of observation is to get the idea of research,
and leads to measurement in the sense of careful and accurate
measurement, which is the forerunner of well-conducted scientific
research.
c) Questions : a question can be researched and answered using an
established scientific method.
d) Hypothesis : a hypothesis is often described as an attempt by the
researcher to explain the phenomenon of interest.
5. The Principles of Research Design and Methodology
 Many ideas for research studies are found only by
observing the environment in which we live.
 The characteristic of being a good researcher is an
empirical
 Be creative.
 Research begets research.
B. Agenda of the Project
 is record of success in achieving successful skills in
project.
To achieve a successful record of success, students must
pay attention to 2 things, namely :
1.Test of language aptituade.
2. Improve strategies
Agenda of the Project
1. Test of language aptituade
 Phonetic coding.
 Grammatical sensitivity -the ability to handle grammar.
 Rote memorization ability.
 Inductive language learning ability-the ability to infer
linguistic forms, rules and patterns from new linguistic
contexts with a minimum of super- vision and guidance.
 These tests are very helpful in predicting a student's
record of success,
2. Improve strategies
The task of observing these strategies is a complex task
because they must involve cognitive processes that neither
the learner nor the teacher can determine.
 Good language learning practices.
 Good language learners monitor their own speech
and that of others.
 Good language learners pay attention to meaning.
 Noticing shapes in a certain way, constantly
analyzing, categorizing, synthesizing.
C. Different of Reseach design, Methodology
and Agenda of the project
a) Research methodology is a way to find out the results of
a specific problem, where this problem is also called a
research problem.
 In methodology, researchers use a variety of different
criteria to solve existing research problems.
 In methodology, researchers always try to find questions
that are given in a systematic way and try to find out all
the answers until they can draw conclusions.
b) Agenda of the Project is record of success in achieving
successful skills in project.
