Furniture concept intended for urban living, combining basic necessities in one unit.

1. SINGLE PIECEFURNITURE CONCEPT
Single Piece is a furniture
concept that combines the
essentials of a home in one
low-impact unit, providing
the necessities for a single
person to live comfortably,
sustainably, economically,
and intentionally in a small
space. Made of baltic birch
plywood, stainless steel,
and concrete, the unit’s
industrial aesthetic is kept
modern, natural and
unique with sparse white
finishes and a small tree.
Minimal storage for dry
goods, produce and other
perishables, kitchen items,
clothes, and other items
such as books is built in,
but supplementary storage
solutions can be used as
well. Strung lights could
provide a simple, beautiful
lighting solution if none
was available in the space.
3) The kitchen uses
the natural cooling
effect of a tree’s
evapotranspiration
and the insulating
thermal mass of
the large concrete
planter to preserve
produce without a
refrigerator. Below
a separate counter
is hidden a small
electric cooktop
and oven, a storage
trough for small
items, a large sink,
and drawers for
minimal dry good
storage. Above is a
rack for hanging
pans and utensils.
4) The work area/
dining table can be
unlocked and
rotated to expose
the bed. Storage
for folded and
hanging clothes is
hidden at the foot.
Tree, pan, clothes hanger, and shirt were all
found on Google Sketchup 3D Warehouse
and are simply used to show the
functionality of the design. All other content
is of my own creation.
