Apple scab Etiology: Venturia inequalis 2. Powdery mildew Etiology: Podosphaera leucotricha Symptoms Small, whitish felt-like patches of fungal growth Infected blossoms shrivel and produce no fruit Fruit surface become russetted or discoloured 3. Fire blight of apple Etiology: Erwinia amylovora Symptoms Leaves becomes water soaked, then shrivel turn brownish to black in colour Terminal twigs wilt from tip to downward 4. Bitter rot of apple Etiology: Colletotrichum gloeosporioides Symptoms Lesions are circular, and turn a darker brown and sunken as they age The rotten flesh is typically watery & appears v-shaped in cross section 5. Black rot/Black rot canker Etiology: Botryosphaeria obtusa Symptoms Small purple specks on leaf upper surfaces which later have tan to brown center & give frog eye appearance Lesion on mature fruit enlarge rapidly becoming black and irregular in shape 6. Sooty blotch & flyspeck Etiology: Phyllachora pomigena & Schizothyrium pomi Symptoms Sooty blotch appears on fruit surfaces as sooty and cloudy blotches with indefinite borders Flyspeck as sharply defined, small, black, shiny dots in groups Symptoms Fruit covered with powdery masses of tan spores Spores may form concentric circles on the surface of fruit 1. Brown rot of stone fruits Etiology: Monilinia fructigena Symptoms On leaves dark brown, scatterd lesions enlarge rapidly and abscission of diseased area results in shot hote Snall circular, deep purple, raised spots on fruits 2. Shot hole/Coryneum blight of stone fruits Etiology: Wilsonomyces carpophilus 3. Verticillium wilt of stone fruits Etiology: Verticillium albo-atrum & V. dahliae Symptoms .Yellowing and sudden wilting of leaves in late summer On cherry, dieback and leaf death occurs 4. Crown gall of pome and stone fruits Etiology: Agrobacterium tumifaciens Symptoms Small, round, whitish, soft overgrowths on the stem and roots As tumor enlarge, their surface become convoluted and other tissues become dark brown 5. Rust of stone fruits Etiology: Tranzschelia discolour Symptoms Symptoms on leaves start as pale yellowish spots on both surfaces which later change into bright yellow islands prominents on the upper surface 6. Peach leaf curl Etiology: Taphrina deformans Symptoms Reddish area on developing leaves These areas becomes thickened and puckered Thickened areas turn yellowish, then grayish white & finally leaves turn yellow or brown
