Persuasive Speech Against War Essay
Imagine a world where honesty was the only option. People could not lie if they wanted to. The concept of a lie is inconceivable to the inhabitants of
the this made up world. Politicians are as see–through as glass, and criminals convict themselves within seconds. Now place yourself in this world,
with the knowledge and understanding of deception. You are an Ambassador of a merited nation, and your country has declared war on a neighboring
commonwealth. The citizens of this foreign state are apparently not so different from the citizens in your community, yet their government is unfairly
claiming the land of less protected villages on the border of your nation and theirs. Your citizens don't see the importance of declaring war over a...show

Any society that shares a common knowledge and universal interest make use of propaganda. Look at social media for example. Arguably, social
networks are the perfect environment for propaganda to thrive. There are millions of online people pushing their own opinions and agendas. An
easy example of modern propaganda is any caricature of President Trump shown as an overweight, orange slob. While this is how some view
Trump, it is biased. On the other side of that, Trump is well practiced in his constant criticism of the media spouting about, "fake news." Both the
media and Trump push their biased through propaganda. In his WW2 fiction novel, The Moon Is Down John Steinbeck writes about a small,
peaceable town that is invaded by soldiers, and the conflict that ensues due to the unwanted presence of a foreign enemy. The book starts out with
a small battalion of soldiers invading a practically defenseless town. Here we are introduced to two principal characters: Mayor Orden and Colonel
Lanser. Mayor Orden inhabits the elected leader of the small coal mining town. He is a conflicted yet honest leader of his people who gives the first
impression of hopelessness in the face of adversity. Colonel Lanser resides as the leader of the soldiers. Given his position of power, he's very
understanding. He has a desire to get along with the people of the small town rather than use force to control them. Steinbeck goes into depth on the
characteristics of the invading soldiers,

Persuasive Essay On Self Esteem
Although self–esteem is something everyone has, it can sometimes be difficult to realize your worth. There are many tools that can raise your
awareness of your self–esteem, and journaling is just one of them. Not only can journaling raise your self–esteem, but it can improve your overall
physical and mental health (ref #5). On the surface, journaling is a relatively simple concept. You find a bound book you like, maybe something with a
nice picture on the front, and either line or unlined paper on the inside, whichever you prefer. Then get a qualitywriting pen and start putting words on
paper. While it seems simple enough sometimes people, especially those with low self–esteem, can turn journaling into a self–deprecating exercise, or
they may have trouble moving the thoughts in their head to the page in their hands. In any event, there are a few simple guidelines that should be
followed to make journaling effective in uncovering your self–esteem. First is to ensure that your journal remains private. You are the only one that is
ever going to read it so do not be afraid to write as you see fit. No one is grading you on punctuation, spelling, or sentence structure so do not get
caught up in the formality of writing. You can even add pictures or doodles on your pages if it helps you express your feelings. The other guideline
to follow is that you are not allowed to bash yourself with negative writings. It is acceptable to write about your bad day or the mistake you made
at work, however, do not bash yourself with comments such as "I am so stupid" or "I am too ugly". If these journal entries show up occasionally,
especially at the start of your writing journey, it is acceptable. Just move on and do not beat yourself up over it, but keep at it and try to improve over
time. Seek to find something good about yourself every day, no matter how small, because every positive thought counts. If you find yourself
struggling to figure out what to write some days, there are several prompts that can get your thoughts moving in the right direction. If today was a
relatively good day, you might write about why you enjoyed your day or things you are grateful for in your life. Conversely, if you had a particularly

Persuasive Speech On Social Media Essay
Purpose: To persuade my audience to minimize their phone usage. Thesis: Stay in the present moment, don't let yourself believe you're going to forget
a memory because you didn't document it through social media. Claim: Policy Organizational Pattern: Problem–Solution I. Introduction A. Attention
Getter: Four Years of your life is wasted to what's sitting inside all of your pockets right now; your cellphone. The average person spends roughly
90 minutes a day playing on their phone, whether it's checking emails, Snapchatting or scrolling through your Twitter feed. According to The
Dailymail.com we unlock our phones at least 110 times per day! We've become almost dependent on these devices over time, and it needs to stop.
We rely on our phones everyday to wake us up for school and to know the time of day. B. Relevance: We live in a world of ever changing
technology. Products are always getting upgraded every year and everyone wants the biggest and newest thing on the market. It's hard to not get
caught up in all the buzz of things. We feel almost "naked" without our phones; our attachment to them is overwhelming. Without them we feel as
though we're missing out on what's happening in the world. Our heads are always down; our thumbs are always swiping up and down on our
newsfeed. We're living a life that is more involved in someone else's social media accounts than our own. C. Credibility: As a student at this university

Persuasive Speeches
There are three types of persuasive speeches. There are speeches of Value, Fact, and Policy. The first one speeches of Value are when speaker tries
to convince listeners that their personal value judgment is true through the way they use their words or tone. In speeches of value, we argue about
whether something is right or wrong and moral or immoral. Just like you would do with questions of fact, you can create your main points by asking
a strategic question in your thesis of "Why is this good?" or "Why is this moral?" The answers to this question will give you the speech's main points.
We will use "Euthanization of dogs is inhumane" The organization will be Topical because you use the question of why or how to set the specific

For example, in a "Euthanization is inhumane" speech, you might make your first main point to define when an it can be considered inhumane or what
makes it inhumane. In most cases though it would be made clear what you mean by inhumane or moral or good. But in cases where it isn't you can
include what you mean by it, or saying inhumane, in your introduction or in your first main point. You will want to take in consideration what type of
audience you're speaking to. Whether it be a animal rights group, PETA, people who don't even know what euthanization means, approach this subject
with some sensitivity. You as the speaker are not asking the audience to do anything about it but just to believe that it's not a humane thing to do. The
next type of persuasive speech is the speech of fact. With any of these speeches you will need a thesis. Begin with a thesis that states that something
can be proven, that it happened or didn't happen. Usually the material used in the speech should be and will be presented with an organization of
topical order. It's very important to consider the evidence being presented cautiously. Ask if it is even possible that the observations actually happened or

Persuasive Speech On Homework
Being a kid is not easy, trying to juggle sports, school, and a social life is stressful and time consuming. We have lives outside of the classroom and
keeping track of our work is very difficult, but there are ways to help keep the two balanced. Here are some helpful ways to keep your school life
managed and still have a productive lifestyle. I've been in school for a little while now and one of the things I dreaded the most was the teacher saying
"Yourhomework for tonight is..."Hearing those words just ruined my mood. However, homework may not be the most enjoyable thing in the
world it is important. It's 10% of your grade but also allows to practice more on what you're learning. Once you get home, homework should be the
first thing on your mind so you can just get it out of the way. When working on homework you should definitely turn off all electronic devices so it
won't get in the way of you focusing. Another thing that could be distracting is family. As much fun as family might be, having someone there
when you're trying to do classwork could get you really off topic. I have a cousin who I definitely adore and we are super close but once we get to
talking there is just no stopping us. Keeping a distance from them will keep you on task and you will also get your work done faster. Once that is
out of the way you can have all the time to socialize. Ever been so stressed out about a test before? Well guess what, you're not alone. Test and
exams are so stressful and sometimes they could either make or break your grade. Having that kind of pressure put on you doesn't feel good but there
are ways you can prep and not be so freaked out. A key thing that goes along with studying is the same with homework, turn off all devices that have
nothing to do with school. For instances phones, with all this new social media coming out all you want do is snapchat friends and see what they are
doing. That'll distract you from studying. Besides devices being shut down, having something calm and relaxing playing can help the brain focus more
and do better. Playing classical music or maybe sounds of nature will be soothing. I know when I study it could feel like I've been studying forever
and nothing is

Persuasive Speech Essay
I'm not a writer but I do have deep thoughts. Been thinking about life and struggle. Why we go through it and how we got there. Going to cut the
BS. We get there because we lose ourselves in people and things. We give away ourselves to people that don't deserve us. When we think we're
good and on land a tidal wave hits us out of nowhere but you saw it coming. You try to swim for land but wave after wave comes and you for the
life of you can't save yourself. As you're trying to stay above the waves you can see your family or friends that are underwater too. You start to ask
why you never saw it. By this time, you can't save them because you can't save yourself. So what do you do now? You either swim or drown. How
do you save yourself along with your family and friends. You see people on land but they are to scared to help. Why? They swim out there they
might not be able to swim back. They have a handful of reasons why they can't help. So they watch. They don't have time or want that in their live.
They check out and leave you behind. We all want to be somebody. By the time you get back to land your wet and different. Your damaged
physically and mentally. They look you head to toe and say, Your not welcome anymore. So now you have no place to go and no friends or family.
You try to make more friends but you saw what happened the first time so you hid yourself and lock your heart up. But when you did that, you
became fake. Like all the over people on the beach. You

Persuasive Essay On The Art Of Art
Art declares many things. It's a way for people to articulate their views, express their emotions, and communicate to the world in a way that gives
them creative release. This ability to exhibit one's views in a imaginative and safe manner is exceptionally important to society's growth, and to border
this freedom to articulate is detrimental. Art should not be hidden and concealed permanently from the public eye because some see it as vulgar due to
the fact that many people have varying definitions as to what is crossing the line. Only certain, obvious things can be noted as truly indecent.
Censorship is not an easy subject. As an artist, there is often a lot of tolerance for the obscene, from appreciation to detail on the human figure or
the unique renditions of animalistic interaction. However, the majority of the public might find the same things that the artists see as a unique
interpretation as vulgar. It is easy to see that such a standpoint must be taken into more consideration, as the point of indecency can differ greatly
for a conservative Christian compared to a liberal atheist. The two images of what each group considers unseemly would most likely range in their
obscenity, and so it would be difficult to put a line where one should be crossed. "If an image offends very many people, sooner or later someone
will invoke the law, and along with it judges, legislators, policymakers, and the police," quotes Melinda Hinkson in Australia's Bill Henson scandal:
notes on the new cultural attitude to images. Here we have a majority rule, where an image should only have action dealt upon it if enough people
want change. Such censorship is easy to determine when there are pieces depicting derogatory themes, such as child pornography or racial notions.
But there are multiple cases where there are two sides of the story, and it is not as simple.
A statue named Truth is Beauty by Marco Cochrane has recently been constructed in the city of San Leandro, here in the bay area. This statue depicts a
nude woman dancing, her body semi–geometric, and although you can not vividly see the all of the womans body parts, it is not difficult to know that
she is supposed to be depicted as naked. A completely naked figure,

Commentary on Persuasive Speeches
In order to begin this piece of work we looked at persuasive speeches in our lessons. These speeches were from famous people, such as Hitler and
Tony Blair. However, my personal inspiration came from a speech from Diana Princess Of Wales, entitled, 'Women and children with aids.' This
acted as a style model for my final piece and gave me the basis for my ideas. As well as this it helped in my planning, as I could see which techniques
were the most effective and how to craft the piece for maximum effect.
My original idea was to write a persuasive speech about the very serious issue of poverty. However, I found it difficult to write a long enough speech to
fit...show more content...
The tone of the article is serious and reflective, however it is clear and to the point. This helps the purpose of the piece come across more clearly. The
intended effect on the audience is reached as it stimulates the reader to reflect on themselves and other people, gently persuading the reader
unconsciously.
The structure of the article is clearly set out with a strong opening and ending. There is more descriptive language in the middle of the article as well
as facts and figures used to back up statements. This makes the piece simple to read but effective at the same time. The lexis which is used is more
challenging for the selected audience, 'acknowledge, desperation, judgemental.' The lexis would be much more simple compared to an article for a child.
The idea of helping the 'dark shadow of poverty fade' and 'reaching the light at the end of the tunnel' are used as figurative language features. This was
also used as emotive language to stimulate the audience and their emotions.
The successful aspects of this article include the lexis, which I have chosen to complement the genre, the shaping of the writing to the selected
audience, as well as the purpose. The pictures help the graphology of the article

Persuasive Speech On English Language
Ever since the dawn of mankind, some form of language has been used to communicate with one another. Language and the ability to speak to one
another to get things done is what I believe makes humankind the most sophisticated species on the planet. However, over the last few hundred years,
one language in particular has become one of the most universally taught subjects: English. With several hundred, or maybe even thousands of
languages being spoken by nearly seven billion people today, English has become the method of communication across several different countries and
cultures. If, for example, English wasn't adopted as a globally respected language, then it would make communicating with other cultures very difficult.
Don't get me...show more content...
Whether we are trying to communicate across several countries or simplifying documents and dialects locally, there needs to be some form of
legislation when it comes to language, and I believe instilling a global language can help us achieve all of the above. Both my mother's and my
father's side of the family migrated from Cuba to Miami in the late 50's, early 60's. When I was born my parents had to work during the day, so my
grandmother, Aba, used to always take care of me, and since she migrated from Cuba, she mainly spoke Spanish with knowledge in only a few
English words. When Aba passed away in 2001, I went to a family friend who also prominently spoke Spanish. Today, at the age of 18, I can proudly
say that those five first years of life did not prepare me enough for Spanish, since I am mostly an English–bred Hispanic. Sure, I can start a simple
conversation and maybe talk Spanish for a little, but overall, I am known as the family "gringo," which is a harsh way of saying I can't speak
Spanish. This hasn't just happened to me. Phillip M. Carter, a professor of linguistics at the FIU Department of English, has found that Miami is
undergoing what is known as a "language shift." The shift means that Miami is becoming less in touch with its Spanish–speaking roots and is turning
to more English–based communication. Carter's own research indicates that "Miami–born Latinos even

Persuasive Essay On Women's Rights
Today in our generation, much has changed over the years dealing with women's rights. Women have more rights today than they did back in the early
years. Conflict over social values affected the wider political environment and the readiness of institutions to facilitate the movement for equality
(Chafe, W, 1978). Some people still believe today that women shouldn't have a voice. "Empowering women isn't just the right thing to do, it's the smart
thing to do" (Barack Obama). In this paper it examines the equality in voting, sexual harassment, and women equality in not only the workplace, but in
their everyday lives.
Voting
Voting is one of the most privileged rights anybody can have in America. Early in the years, women didn't have the right to vote. According to the
article Why Women Should Be Included in the Voting Rights Act, women had no right to elect representatives of their choice and they weren't allowed
to be elected. Women are the most under–represented people in the United States. Lydia Taft was the first woman known to legally vote in America.
The townspeople voted to allow her to vote in the meeting of October 20, 1756. The women's right to vote opened the door for many other inequalities
around the world. Susan B. Anthony was the first U.S. woman to vote in an election. She was an American women's rights activist who played a
private role in the women's suffrage movement. She collected anti– slavery petitions at the age of 17 and she also

Have you ever thought that pollution is like cancer for the mother earth?
I am here to talk to you about better way of lifestyle that changes the whole future of our planet regarding pollution and global warming.
"CO2 gas emissions" is a mystical term which everyone should pay attention to. C02 gas is a colorless, odorless gas that is present in the atmosphere
and is formed when any fuel containing carbon is burned. Plants and trees are using it in the process of photosynthesis. Carbon dioxide is also used in
refrigeration, fire extinguishers, and carbonated drinks. In other words this is the gas we need to fight with! By using fossil fuels in almost
everything we do, we make a huge cloud of gas and this is warming up the world. By doing this, we cause serious damage to the nature and we may
have an irreversible effect on it and the future.
As you now understand that we need to fight with it, I am going to tell you some ways to do it.
First of all, reduce the time you are in the car and use your legs to move .Use Bikes! People are getting lazier as time goes, but you can make the
change. If you walk more, you help your planet and you help yourself, so why not to do it?
Take care about your garden. Those are the filters of our caused high levels of gas. Mother nature knows how to cure the world, so let's help a little
bit. Did you know that every 2 seconds a football field of forest is gone in the world? It takes minutes to destroy it,

Persuasive Speech : Effective Communication
In writing it's important to have an understanding of what you're trying to convey for your audience in addition to how you you will present your ideas.
Effective communication extends beyond having well organized writing expressed in complete and coherent sentences. The style, tone and clarity of
writing must also be considered, as they are constantly changing relative to the audience. Again, analyzing one's audience and purpose is essential to
successful writing. Appropriately, when choosing the most effective language, it is important to consider the document objective as well as the reader.
In essence, this idea of effective use of language has been the overarching theme of this online English course. Each writing assignment...show more

Thus, the style of language used within the text was often industry specific and possessed a more academic feeling. For example, in the text I often
used abbreviations and slang acceptable within the discourse such as, SCM Supply chain management, KPI Key performance indicator, and RDT
Resource dependence. The word choice in this assignment is indicative of that fact that language is chosen in a manner that is appropriate for both the
audience and the purpose of the writing.
Furthermore, perhaps the greatest contrast and the most evident of how language works differently in various types of writing is the discussion blog
post. The blog post allowed the class to engage in different types of formality of language. The formality of the language one uses should match
the formality of the situation and the relationship between the writer and reader. Therefore, as the public audience was a class of online students
taking a required writing course in the summer, the formality of my writing has often been very informal. For example, in my blog post addressing
my concern over the unworthy power of BeyoncГ© I wrote, "It was the year 2008 when the world was blessed with the images of BeyoncГ©
(unapologetically) dancing around in a leotard. Not only is BeyoncГ©'s single lady video one of her most notable hits it begins her what is now a
decade long relationship ending spree" (Marquis, 2016 ). The formality

Reflection Of A Persuasive Reflection
Reflection of a Persuasive Essay by Vickie Hale In my revision, I decided to incorporate actionable feedback from the feedback I received. The
feedback I received was that my essay needed more clarification, I choose to use this feedback to help make my argument more developed, I wanted to
create a better thought out essay and I worked on the clarification of my argument as well as renewed my research. With that, I did some critical
thinking to help work through the weak areas of my essay which was the structure and syntax. Therefore, I incorporated these suggestions because
they helped me to improve my essay and help me to create a more persuasive essay. Without these changes alongside the small revisions, I made, I do
not believe my essay would have been as well–written so they were much needed. My biggest challenges came from not being able to pin down my
argument, it took me a while to come find a side to an argument that wasn't vague. Because, I usually write in a creative way, which does not
necessarily have to be persuasive, I usually write fictional stories and people getting the understanding from the experiences of the characters is the
outcome, but with persuasive writing, you are trying to get your readers to not only agree with your side of the argument but to see what and why
you are arguing your side in the first place. This became difficult for me because I kept feeling like my argument was not central and a little vague.
I worked on trying to help my readers understand what and why I was arguing my side of the argument. I had to think about who was reading my
essay and this helped. What I could have done differently is choose a more central argument, I believe it would have reduced my challenges. This
question is hard for me to answer because I did not receive but one peer feedback, the feedback I incorporated concerning my exploration of the
issue was more clarification because that was one of the problems my peer review pointed out. I worked on my clarification because it is one of the
main elements, that is needed when you are writing a persuasive essay or any essay for that matter. Clarification gives the essay structure so your
readers can have a full understanding of your

have begun to think whether freedom of speech should be further limited to several cases seen in recent years such as what happened in
Charlottesville, Virginia. Freedom of speech is a privilege in many countries, there are still plenty of countries around the world that do not have
nearly as many rights as the United States. The rights given to the American people to freely assemble and speak as they please is not seen in often in

Persuasive Essay On Freedom Of Speech
Freedom of speech in America is defined by the right to express any opinions without any censorship or restraint. But it isn't just defined by the
words people speak aloud. It's the actions they take part in to support the words they express. The writing of books and essays, creating artwork,
giving speeches to grand crowds, voting, protesting. But do all people have the right to speak their mind? Should people be able to speak freely, to
express opinions and thoughts, as promised in the United States constitution? A controversial topic, with many different opinions weighing in from
around the world.

With all these truths, and the freedom to speak them, comes the question of who should hold the power and ability to speak their minds. In the United
States, our society believes everyone should have the right to freedom of speech, to voice thoughts and opinions. Written down in the constitution is
the promise to citizen rights, to all peoples who want to exercise those rights. "It was we the people; not we, the white male citizens," who built up
our nation and society, and the promise to freedom of speech (Anthony, par. 4). Women, children, teens, those of color should all be able to speak
freely, to give shape to the opinions they hold like all the empowered men that speak freely. Not all governments and nations feel the same about this.
In Singapore, they have their "own standards of social order as reflected in [their] laws" (Reyes, par. 3). Different nations feel differently abouthuman
rights and laws as presented by the United States, including freedom of speech, whether it is safe for everyone to speak their minds or just best to
keep it to those who are fed lies from those of a higher position.
With freedom of speech can come violence, a common reason for nations and governments to deny this right. Some societies, such as Singapore, agree
that by enforcing certain laws that abide the government keep said nation "orderly and relatively crime–free" (Reyes, par. 3). Freedom of speech can

the solution, I hope everyone supports my solution. TRANSITION: First, we first need to understand the amount of pollution we create
BODY
Need Step
II. The constant release of contaminants into the atmosphere has created worse living conditions
The standard measurement of air quality is the amount of pollution in nanograms per cubic meter
For example, one of the most polluted cities in the US according to USA today is Fresno–Madera in California
It has a particle pollution of 18.1 nanograms per cubic meter.
Since the average density of air is around 1.225 kilograms per cubic meter, in each cubic meter of air, it is around one parts per billion for pollutants
Compare that to the most polluted city in the world, Zabol, Iran with a particle pollution of 217000 nanograms per cubic meter. This counts for one
part per million for pollutants
According to Sparetheair.com, prolonged exposure to pollutants can cause asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, and even lung cancer.
TRANSITION: Pollution is a serious problem, and I have the solution to reduce it with the way we travel
Satisfaction Step
III. The answer to our problem is the Hyperloop train
The Hyperloop train is a capsule large enough to hold people that is an underground tube system that has all of the air pumped out of

  • 2. Persuasive Speech Against War Essay Imagine a world where honesty was the only option. People could not lie if they wanted to. The concept of a lie is inconceivable to the inhabitants of the this made up world. Politicians are as see–through as glass, and criminals convict themselves within seconds. Now place yourself in this world, with the knowledge and understanding of deception. You are an Ambassador of a merited nation, and your country has declared war on a neighboring commonwealth. The citizens of this foreign state are apparently not so different from the citizens in your community, yet their government is unfairly claiming the land of less protected villages on the border of your nation and theirs. Your citizens don't see the importance of declaring war over a...show more content... Any society that shares a common knowledge and universal interest make use of propaganda. Look at social media for example. Arguably, social networks are the perfect environment for propaganda to thrive. There are millions of online people pushing their own opinions and agendas. An easy example of modern propaganda is any caricature of President Trump shown as an overweight, orange slob. While this is how some view Trump, it is biased. On the other side of that, Trump is well practiced in his constant criticism of the media spouting about, "fake news." Both the media and Trump push their biased through propaganda. In his WW2 fiction novel, The Moon Is Down John Steinbeck writes about a small, peaceable town that is invaded by soldiers, and the conflict that ensues due to the unwanted presence of a foreign enemy. The book starts out with a small battalion of soldiers invading a practically defenseless town. Here we are introduced to two principal characters: Mayor Orden and Colonel Lanser. Mayor Orden inhabits the elected leader of the small coal mining town. He is a conflicted yet honest leader of his people who gives the first impression of hopelessness in the face of adversity. Colonel Lanser resides as the leader of the soldiers. Given his position of power, he's very understanding. He has a desire to get along with the people of the small town rather than use force to control them. Steinbeck goes into depth on the characteristics of the invading soldiers, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Persuasive Essay On Self Esteem Although self–esteem is something everyone has, it can sometimes be difficult to realize your worth. There are many tools that can raise your awareness of your self–esteem, and journaling is just one of them. Not only can journaling raise your self–esteem, but it can improve your overall physical and mental health (ref #5). On the surface, journaling is a relatively simple concept. You find a bound book you like, maybe something with a nice picture on the front, and either line or unlined paper on the inside, whichever you prefer. Then get a qualitywriting pen and start putting words on paper. While it seems simple enough sometimes people, especially those with low self–esteem, can turn journaling into a self–deprecating exercise, or they may have trouble moving the thoughts in their head to the page in their hands. In any event, there are a few simple guidelines that should be followed to make journaling effective in uncovering your self–esteem. First is to ensure that your journal remains private. You are the only one that is ever going to read it so do not be afraid to write as you see fit. No one is grading you on punctuation, spelling, or sentence structure so do not get caught up in the formality of writing. You can even add pictures or doodles on your pages if it helps you express your feelings. The other guideline to follow is that you are not allowed to bash yourself with negative writings. It is acceptable to write about your bad day or the mistake you made at work, however, do not bash yourself with comments such as "I am so stupid" or "I am too ugly". If these journal entries show up occasionally, especially at the start of your writing journey, it is acceptable. Just move on and do not beat yourself up over it, but keep at it and try to improve over time. Seek to find something good about yourself every day, no matter how small, because every positive thought counts. If you find yourself struggling to figure out what to write some days, there are several prompts that can get your thoughts moving in the right direction. If today was a relatively good day, you might write about why you enjoyed your day or things you are grateful for in your life. Conversely, if you had a particularly rough day Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Persuasive Speech On Social Media Essay Purpose: To persuade my audience to minimize their phone usage. Thesis: Stay in the present moment, don't let yourself believe you're going to forget a memory because you didn't document it through social media. Claim: Policy Organizational Pattern: Problem–Solution I. Introduction A. Attention Getter: Four Years of your life is wasted to what's sitting inside all of your pockets right now; your cellphone. The average person spends roughly 90 minutes a day playing on their phone, whether it's checking emails, Snapchatting or scrolling through your Twitter feed. According to The Dailymail.com we unlock our phones at least 110 times per day! We've become almost dependent on these devices over time, and it needs to stop. We rely on our phones everyday to wake us up for school and to know the time of day. B. Relevance: We live in a world of ever changing technology. Products are always getting upgraded every year and everyone wants the biggest and newest thing on the market. It's hard to not get caught up in all the buzz of things. We feel almost "naked" without our phones; our attachment to them is overwhelming. Without them we feel as though we're missing out on what's happening in the world. Our heads are always down; our thumbs are always swiping up and down on our newsfeed. We're living a life that is more involved in someone else's social media accounts than our own. C. Credibility: As a student at this university I've realized every person on the quad has their heads Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Persuasive Speeches There are three types of persuasive speeches. There are speeches of Value, Fact, and Policy. The first one speeches of Value are when speaker tries to convince listeners that their personal value judgment is true through the way they use their words or tone. In speeches of value, we argue about whether something is right or wrong and moral or immoral. Just like you would do with questions of fact, you can create your main points by asking a strategic question in your thesis of "Why is this good?" or "Why is this moral?" The answers to this question will give you the speech's main points. We will use "Euthanization of dogs is inhumane" The organization will be Topical because you use the question of why or how to set the specific purpose....show more content... For example, in a "Euthanization is inhumane" speech, you might make your first main point to define when an it can be considered inhumane or what makes it inhumane. In most cases though it would be made clear what you mean by inhumane or moral or good. But in cases where it isn't you can include what you mean by it, or saying inhumane, in your introduction or in your first main point. You will want to take in consideration what type of audience you're speaking to. Whether it be a animal rights group, PETA, people who don't even know what euthanization means, approach this subject with some sensitivity. You as the speaker are not asking the audience to do anything about it but just to believe that it's not a humane thing to do. The next type of persuasive speech is the speech of fact. With any of these speeches you will need a thesis. Begin with a thesis that states that something can be proven, that it happened or didn't happen. Usually the material used in the speech should be and will be presented with an organization of topical order. It's very important to consider the evidence being presented cautiously. Ask if it is even possible that the observations actually happened or Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Persuasive Speech On Homework Being a kid is not easy, trying to juggle sports, school, and a social life is stressful and time consuming. We have lives outside of the classroom and keeping track of our work is very difficult, but there are ways to help keep the two balanced. Here are some helpful ways to keep your school life managed and still have a productive lifestyle. I've been in school for a little while now and one of the things I dreaded the most was the teacher saying "Yourhomework for tonight is..."Hearing those words just ruined my mood. However, homework may not be the most enjoyable thing in the world it is important. It's 10% of your grade but also allows to practice more on what you're learning. Once you get home, homework should be the first thing on your mind so you can just get it out of the way. When working on homework you should definitely turn off all electronic devices so it won't get in the way of you focusing. Another thing that could be distracting is family. As much fun as family might be, having someone there when you're trying to do classwork could get you really off topic. I have a cousin who I definitely adore and we are super close but once we get to talking there is just no stopping us. Keeping a distance from them will keep you on task and you will also get your work done faster. Once that is out of the way you can have all the time to socialize. Ever been so stressed out about a test before? Well guess what, you're not alone. Test and exams are so stressful and sometimes they could either make or break your grade. Having that kind of pressure put on you doesn't feel good but there are ways you can prep and not be so freaked out. A key thing that goes along with studying is the same with homework, turn off all devices that have nothing to do with school. For instances phones, with all this new social media coming out all you want do is snapchat friends and see what they are doing. That'll distract you from studying. Besides devices being shut down, having something calm and relaxing playing can help the brain focus more and do better. Playing classical music or maybe sounds of nature will be soothing. I know when I study it could feel like I've been studying forever and nothing is Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Persuasive Speech Essay I'm not a writer but I do have deep thoughts. Been thinking about life and struggle. Why we go through it and how we got there. Going to cut the BS. We get there because we lose ourselves in people and things. We give away ourselves to people that don't deserve us. When we think we're good and on land a tidal wave hits us out of nowhere but you saw it coming. You try to swim for land but wave after wave comes and you for the life of you can't save yourself. As you're trying to stay above the waves you can see your family or friends that are underwater too. You start to ask why you never saw it. By this time, you can't save them because you can't save yourself. So what do you do now? You either swim or drown. How do you save yourself along with your family and friends. You see people on land but they are to scared to help. Why? They swim out there they might not be able to swim back. They have a handful of reasons why they can't help. So they watch. They don't have time or want that in their live. They check out and leave you behind. We all want to be somebody. By the time you get back to land your wet and different. Your damaged physically and mentally. They look you head to toe and say, Your not welcome anymore. So now you have no place to go and no friends or family. You try to make more friends but you saw what happened the first time so you hid yourself and lock your heart up. But when you did that, you became fake. Like all the over people on the beach. • 8. Persuasive Essay On The Art Of Art Art declares many things. It's a way for people to articulate their views, express their emotions, and communicate to the world in a way that gives them creative release. This ability to exhibit one's views in a imaginative and safe manner is exceptionally important to society's growth, and to border this freedom to articulate is detrimental. Art should not be hidden and concealed permanently from the public eye because some see it as vulgar due to the fact that many people have varying definitions as to what is crossing the line. Only certain, obvious things can be noted as truly indecent. Censorship is not an easy subject. As an artist, there is often a lot of tolerance for the obscene, from appreciation to detail on the human figure or the unique renditions of animalistic interaction. However, the majority of the public might find the same things that the artists see as a unique interpretation as vulgar. It is easy to see that such a standpoint must be taken into more consideration, as the point of indecency can differ greatly for a conservative Christian compared to a liberal atheist. The two images of what each group considers unseemly would most likely range in their obscenity, and so it would be difficult to put a line where one should be crossed. "If an image offends very many people, sooner or later someone will invoke the law, and along with it judges, legislators, policymakers, and the police," quotes Melinda Hinkson in Australia's Bill Henson scandal: notes on the new cultural attitude to images. Here we have a majority rule, where an image should only have action dealt upon it if enough people want change. This statue depicts a nude woman dancing, her body semi–geometric, and although you can not vividly see the all of the womans body parts, it is not difficult to know that she is supposed to be depicted as naked. A completely naked figure, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Essay about Commentary on Persuasive Speeches Commentary on Persuasive Speeches In order to begin this piece of work we looked at persuasive speeches in our lessons. These speeches were from famous people, such as Hitler and Tony Blair. However, my personal inspiration came from a speech from Diana Princess Of Wales, entitled, 'Women and children with aids.' This acted as a style model for my final piece and gave me the basis for my ideas. As well as this it helped in my planning, as I could see which techniques were the most effective and how to craft the piece for maximum effect. My original idea was to write a persuasive speech about the very serious issue of poverty. However, I found it difficult to write a long enough speech to fit...show more content... The tone of the article is serious and reflective, however it is clear and to the point. This helps the purpose of the piece come across more clearly. The intended effect on the audience is reached as it stimulates the reader to reflect on themselves and other people, gently persuading the reader unconsciously. The structure of the article is clearly set out with a strong opening and ending. There is more descriptive language in the middle of the article as well as facts and figures used to back up statements. This makes the piece simple to read but effective at the same time. The lexis which is used is more challenging for the selected audience, 'acknowledge, desperation, judgemental.' The lexis would be much more simple compared to an article for a child. The idea of helping the 'dark shadow of poverty fade' and 'reaching the light at the end of the tunnel' are used as figurative language features. This was also used as emotive language to stimulate the audience and their emotions. The successful aspects of this article include the lexis, which I have chosen to complement the genre, the shaping of the writing to the selected audience, as well as the purpose. The pictures help the graphology of the article Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Persuasive Speech On English Language Ever since the dawn of mankind, some form of language has been used to communicate with one another. Language and the ability to speak to one another to get things done is what I believe makes humankind the most sophisticated species on the planet. However, over the last few hundred years, one language in particular has become one of the most universally taught subjects: English. With several hundred, or maybe even thousands of languages being spoken by nearly seven billion people today, English has become the method of communication across several different countries and cultures. If, for example, English wasn't adopted as a globally respected language, then it would make communicating with other cultures very difficult. Don't get me...show more content... Whether we are trying to communicate across several countries or simplifying documents and dialects locally, there needs to be some form of legislation when it comes to language, and I believe instilling a global language can help us achieve all of the above. Both my mother's and my father's side of the family migrated from Cuba to Miami in the late 50's, early 60's. When I was born my parents had to work during the day, so my grandmother, Aba, used to always take care of me, and since she migrated from Cuba, she mainly spoke Spanish with knowledge in only a few English words. When Aba passed away in 2001, I went to a family friend who also prominently spoke Spanish. Today, at the age of 18, I can proudly say that those five first years of life did not prepare me enough for Spanish, since I am mostly an English–bred Hispanic. Sure, I can start a simple conversation and maybe talk Spanish for a little, but overall, I am known as the family "gringo," which is a harsh way of saying I can't speak Spanish. This hasn't just happened to me. Phillip M. Carter, a professor of linguistics at the FIU Department of English, has found that Miami is undergoing what is known as a "language shift." The shift means that Miami is becoming less in touch with its Spanish–speaking roots and is turning to more English–based communication. Carter's own research indicates that "Miami–born Latinos even Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 12. Persuasive Essay On Women's Rights Today in our generation, much has changed over the years dealing with women's rights. Women have more rights today than they did back in the early years. Conflict over social values affected the wider political environment and the readiness of institutions to facilitate the movement for equality (Chafe, W, 1978). Some people still believe today that women shouldn't have a voice. "Empowering women isn't just the right thing to do, it's the smart thing to do" (Barack Obama). In this paper it examines the equality in voting, sexual harassment, and women equality in not only the workplace, but in their everyday lives. Voting Voting is one of the most privileged rights anybody can have in America. Early in the years, women didn't have the right to vote. According to the article Why Women Should Be Included in the Voting Rights Act, women had no right to elect representatives of their choice and they weren't allowed to be elected. Women are the most under–represented people in the United States. Lydia Taft was the first woman known to legally vote in America. The townspeople voted to allow her to vote in the meeting of October 20, 1756. The women's right to vote opened the door for many other inequalities around the world. Susan B. Anthony was the first U.S. woman to vote in an election. She was an American women's rights activist who played a private role in the women's suffrage movement. Have you ever thought that pollution is like cancer for the mother earth? I am here to talk to you about better way of lifestyle that changes the whole future of our planet regarding pollution and global warming. "CO2 gas emissions" is a mystical term which everyone should pay attention to. C02 gas is a colorless, odorless gas that is present in the atmosphere and is formed when any fuel containing carbon is burned. Plants and trees are using it in the process of photosynthesis. Carbon dioxide is also used in refrigeration, fire extinguishers, and carbonated drinks. In other words this is the gas we need to fight with! By using fossil fuels in almost everything we do, we make a huge cloud of gas and this is warming up the world. By doing this, we cause serious damage to the nature and we may have an irreversible effect on it and the future. As you now understand that we need to fight with it, I am going to tell you some ways to do it. First of all, reduce the time you are in the car and use your legs to move .Use Bikes! • 15. Persuasive Speech : Effective Communication In writing it's important to have an understanding of what you're trying to convey for your audience in addition to how you you will present your ideas. Effective communication extends beyond having well organized writing expressed in complete and coherent sentences. The style, tone and clarity of writing must also be considered, as they are constantly changing relative to the audience. Again, analyzing one's audience and purpose is essential to successful writing. Appropriately, when choosing the most effective language, it is important to consider the document objective as well as the reader. In essence, this idea of effective use of language has been the overarching theme of this online English course. Each writing assignment...show more content... Thus, the style of language used within the text was often industry specific and possessed a more academic feeling. For example, in the text I often used abbreviations and slang acceptable within the discourse such as, SCM Supply chain management, KPI Key performance indicator, and RDT Resource dependence. The word choice in this assignment is indicative of that fact that language is chosen in a manner that is appropriate for both the audience and the purpose of the writing. Furthermore, perhaps the greatest contrast and the most evident of how language works differently in various types of writing is the discussion blog post. The blog post allowed the class to engage in different types of formality of language. The formality of the language one uses should match the formality of the situation and the relationship between the writer and reader. Therefore, as the public audience was a class of online students taking a required writing course in the summer, the formality of my writing has often been very informal. For example, in my blog post addressing my concern over the unworthy power of BeyoncГ© I wrote, "It was the year 2008 when the world was blessed with the images of BeyoncГ© (unapologetically) dancing around in a leotard. Not only is BeyoncГ©'s single lady video one of her most notable hits it begins her what is now a decade long relationship ending spree" (Marquis, 2016 ). • 16. Reflection Of A Persuasive Reflection Reflection of a Persuasive Essay by Vickie Hale In my revision, I decided to incorporate actionable feedback from the feedback I received. The feedback I received was that my essay needed more clarification, I choose to use this feedback to help make my argument more developed, I wanted to create a better thought out essay and I worked on the clarification of my argument as well as renewed my research. With that, I did some critical thinking to help work through the weak areas of my essay which was the structure and syntax. Therefore, I incorporated these suggestions because they helped me to improve my essay and help me to create a more persuasive essay. Without these changes alongside the small revisions, I made, I do not believe my essay would have been as well–written so they were much needed. My biggest challenges came from not being able to pin down my argument, it took me a while to come find a side to an argument that wasn't vague. Because, I usually write in a creative way, which does not necessarily have to be persuasive, I usually write fictional stories and people getting the understanding from the experiences of the characters is the outcome, but with persuasive writing, you are trying to get your readers to not only agree with your side of the argument but to see what and why you are arguing your side in the first place. This became difficult for me because I kept feeling like my argument was not central and a little vague. I worked on trying to help my readers understand what and why I was arguing my side of the argument. I had to think about who was reading my essay and this helped. What I could have done differently is choose a more central argument, I believe it would have reduced my challenges. This question is hard for me to answer because I did not receive but one peer feedback, the feedback I incorporated concerning my exploration of the issue was more clarification because that was one of the problems my peer review pointed out. I worked on my clarification because it is one of the main elements, that is needed when you are writing a persuasive essay or any essay for that matter. Clarification gives the essay structure so your readers can have a full understanding of your Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Freedom of speech is a privilege in many countries, there are still plenty of countries around the world that do not have nearly as many rights as the United States. The rights given to the American people to freely assemble and speak as they please is not seen in often in countries and is a major advantage given to the American people. But it isn't just defined by the words people speak aloud. It's the actions they take part in to support the words they express. The writing of books and essays, creating artwork, giving speeches to grand crowds, voting, protesting. But do all people have the right to speak their mind? Should people be able to speak freely, to express opinions and thoughts, as promised in the United States constitution? With all these truths, and the freedom to speak them, comes the question of who should hold the power and ability to speak their minds. In the United States, our society believes everyone should have the right to freedom of speech, to voice thoughts and opinions. Written down in the constitution is the promise to citizen rights, to all peoples who want to exercise those rights. "It was we the people; not we, the white male citizens," who built up our nation and society, and the promise to freedom of speech (Anthony, par. 4). Women, children, teens, those of color should all be able to speak freely, to give shape to the opinions they hold like all the empowered men that speak freely. Not all governments and nations feel the same about this. In Singapore, they have their "own standards of social order as reflected in [their] laws" (Reyes, par. 3). Different nations feel differently abouthuman rights and laws as presented by the United States, including freedom of speech, whether it is safe for everyone to speak their minds or just best to keep it to those who are fed lies from those of a higher position. With freedom of speech can come violence, a common reason for nations and governments to deny this right. Some societies, such as Singapore, agree that by enforcing certain laws that abide the government keep said nation "orderly and relatively crime–free" (Reyes, par. 3).
