To Whom This May Concern:
I am writing a letter to you to wholeheartedly recommend Heidi Kinsella for the
position in your school. I have known Heidi as a teacher and as a part of our community
for over ten years, and I know she would be a phenomenal part of your staff and
community also.
Heidi and I worked together at Westgate Elementary in a co-teaching, inclusion
model. We planned together and our students enjoyed working with either of us, and also
made great gains in reading, math, and writing. Heidi is rare special education teacher, in
that she holds her students to high standards, while giving them supports along the way.
Often times, special ed teachers give too much support, thus enabling students. But Heidi
Kinsella does not operate that way. She knows that the students must struggle a little to
make the gains they are capable of, and she also is savvy to know when the student needs
a timely intervention to avoid getting frustrated.
Heidi Kinsella was also a great part of our school culture and professional
learning community. She often contributed her knowledge and understanding of the
responses needed for our highest need students, and she offered her help to all the staff.
She undertook the task of making consistent math problem solving charts for all
classrooms, ensuring that we were all using common, quality language with our students.
She joined several committees and became an integral part of our culture, often uplifting
spirits when energy seemed depleted! We were sad to see her leave us!
Though I am sad that Heidi is not able to be in our school, I am excited for your
students, as they will have the best working with them, should you choose to hire Heidi.
