May 2009: Arts Co-op staff strike a pose.

The 2009/10 Arts Co-op Students’ Association Executive receive the Helen
McCrae Award for outstanding contributions from a UBC AMS affiliated
club. UBC Vice-President Students Brian Sullivan presented the award.

June 2009: Arts Co-op alumni, staff and supporters celebrate our
program’s 10th anniversary since inception.

May 2011: Sociology student Meghan Chapman accepts the award for
University Co-op Student of the Year from Stuart Billings, President of
the Association for Co-operative Education in BC/Yukon.

May 2011: Arts Co-op staff join forces with Superman (Coby Fulton) at
provincial conference for co-op professionals organized by the
Association for Co-operative Education in BC/Yukon.

March 2012: Arts Co-op team celebrates National Co-op Week.

2013: Psychology student Eva Kwan works at the Canadian Space
Agency, in a role that included supporting Commander Chris Hadfield
meet the psychological challenges of life in space.

January 2014: Arts Co-op students attend pre-employment
conference.

March 2014: International Relations student Alex Chen is awarded
Canada’s top co-op student in 2013 by what is now Co-operative
Education & Work-Integrated Learning Canada.

March 2014: Furry friends love co-op too!

Summer 2014: Geography student Sejal Lal works at Parks Canada
as an Iconic Experience Host, most memorably flying in a helicopter
around Ivvavik National Park to install wildlife monitoring cameras.

May 2017: Dr. Jon Newell becomes the first PhD student to graduate
with a co-op designation at UBC, blazing a trail for future students
looking to explore their professional potential during a PhD.

June 2017: Arts Co-op alumni meet to connect (and reconnect)
over dinner in Ottawa.

July 2018: Psychology student Kaylin McLeod coordinates adaptive
kayaking and paddle boarding for people with disabilities during her
co-op term with the Disability Foundation.

Fall 2019: BIE student Matthias Leuprecht works with the Permanent Mission
of Canada in New York, in a role that included helping Canada’s campaign for
the UN Security Council and taking notes in the UN General Assembly.

March 2020: Economics student Bashara Hussain is honoured as BC
and Yukon’s University Co-op Student of the Year by the Association for
Co-operative Education & Work-Integrated Learning.
