Inspections and Tagging
a. All scaffold components must be inspected, and damaged components immediately
removed from site.
b. No scaffold must be used unless it has been inspected and certified fit for purpose/safe for
use within 7 days immediately preceding the use of the scaffold.
c. Upon completion of installation and after any modification, all scaffolds must be inspected
by a competent and experienced person meeting local legislative requirements.
d. Scaffolds shall be subjected to ongoing inspections at intervals not exceeding 7 days OR if
exposed to the elements (e.g. after heavy rain, extreme wind, etc.) by a competent and
experienced person meeting local legislative requirements.
e. All scaffolds on MRCB operations shall be subjected to the tagging system by competent
person. 7.6 Scaffolds under construction, modification and dismantling are to display red
tags at ALL designated access points.
f. Scaffolds that are inspected and deemed fit for purpose, and open for general use, shall
display a green tag at ALL designated access points.
g. A scaffold is not permitted to display both a green and red tag at the same time. Any person
observing this shall immediately remove the green tag with the red tag remained.
h. Green tags shall display the following:
i. Name of the MRCB operation
ii. Location of scaffold
iii. Date of initial and ongoing inspections
iv. Name of inspectors against the respective date of inspection
v. Safe Working Load (SWL)
