At the end of the lesson learners will be able to:
Rrecognise different changes that may happen in our
lives.
Learners will be aware of how to cope with change.
Know that there are many reasons for change.
Understand that nothing stays the same.
Identify ways in which they can help you cope with
change.
4. What is Change?
Change can be defined in various definition.
In simple term we will define: Change as an act or
process through which something becomes
different.
For example, take or use another instead of. “ He
decided to change his name”
5. Reasons for Change.
There are many reason for change.
When you need to change friends, for various reasons, e.g.
bad influence.
To break up with your girlfriend or boyfriend because the love
you had is just not there anymore.
Experiencing your parents divorce or loved one dies.
Changing the school or move to new village, town or city.
6. The four category of change.
Sudden change: Something happening, coming, or done
quickly, without warning, or unexpectedly
Difficult change: Changes that are out of control and we
have to find way to think positively about what has happened
Exciting change: Embrace who you are and do what you
love.
Small change: Happen every day; from what we eat, what
we wear, how we get to school and so on.
7. Coping with Change
To cope with all changes that are happening in your life as
you grow to adulthood.
One of the most important things is to be aware of the
changes and realise that they are normal.
Communicate with others and make friends with people who
will support you.
8. Communication helps to cope with change
It is important to communicate with your parents.
Feeling unsure about life and changes in your body,
talk to adults your trust and good friends.
Learn how to be a good listener to your friends too.
Say how you feel so that others can understand
what is happening in your life.
9. Make friends.
Be friendly, smile, laugh and show you enjoy talking to
others.
Listen when others are talking to you.
Do not tease or make fun of others in a nasty way.
Be a good friend to have a friend.
10. Friends help to cope with change
They get you involved in youth, sports, music, or community
groups.
They make you feel that you belong to a group.
They make you feel more secure because you know they
understand you.
They accept you for who you are.
11. Key message
We all react differently to changes in our lives.
Changes are inevitable, certain to happen
Nothing stay the same.
Some changes are harder to cope with than others.
The important thing to do when struggling with how
we are feeling, we need to be able to ask for help
and talk to someone.
