A. Content Standards The learners demonstrates appreciation of contemporary art forms, found in the various regions by understanding the elements and principles
B. Performance Standards
The learners shall be able to present a form of integrated contemporary art based on the region of his / her choice. e.g. choreography, musical instrument,
literary and music composition, visual design, and/or theatrical performance

Describes various contemporary art forms and their practices from the various regions:
 Define “contemporary art” in art historical, cultural, and stylistic terms.
 Differentiate contemporary art from traditional arts.
 State the relevance of contemporary arts in todays’ society.
 Cite contemporary major artworks in the Philippines and explain their symbolism and importance.

SUBJECT ORIENTATION
Today's lesson is about contemporary
Philippine arts from the regions. In our
previous lesson, we talked about the
definition of contemporary art in art
historical, cultural, and stylistic terms.
We will continue with this topic and
discuss the difference between
contemporary art and traditional arts.
 Ask students what they know
about contemporary arts and how
they differ from traditional arts.
 Present a brief overview of the
previous lesson about traditional
arts.
Today, we will be discussing
contemporary major artworks in the
Philippines and their symbolism and
importance. But before we start, can
someone define what "contemporary
art" means?
2. Establishing the purpose of the
lesson
By the end of this lesson, students will
be able to:
 Define contemporary art in art
historical, cultural, and stylistic
terms
 State the objective of the lesson
and its relevance in
understanding the current issues
and trends in society.
At the end of the lesson, you should
be able to cite and explain the
symbolism and importance of major
contemporary artworks in the
Philippines.
 Differentiate contemporary
art from traditional arts

contemporary Philippine arts from
different regions, such as
paintings, sculptures, installations,
and performance art.
 Show examples of traditional arts
such as folk dances, tribal crafts,
and religious art.

artworks through an audiovisual
presentation.
 Discuss the different forms of
contemporary arts such as visual
arts, music, theater, film, and
literature.
 Provide a brief history of
contemporary arts in the
Philippines.

6. Developing Mastery
Interactive activity: Gallery Walk
 Students will be divided into
groups.
 Divide the class into groups and
assign each group a
contemporary artwork to analyze.
 Instruct them to identify the
elements and principles used in

of 3-4 students. Each group will
choose one of the artworks discussed
in class and create a poster that will
explain the artwork's symbolism and

they can apply the concepts and
skills they learned in their daily
lives.
 Encourage them to appreciate
and support contemporary arts by
attending exhibits, concerts, and
performances.
Contemporary art is not just a form of
expression or entertainment, but it is
also a reflection of society's current
issues and concerns. By
understanding the symbolism and
importance of contemporary
artworks, we can gain a better
understanding of our society and the
issues that we need to address.
8. Generalizing and abstractions
about the lesson
Students will be able to recognize the
value and significance of
contemporary art in reflecting modern
society's issues and culture, as well as
the importance of preserving
traditional arts as part of the Philippine
cultural heritage.
 Summarize the importance of
contemporary arts in shaping
society.
 Encourage students to continue
exploring and appreciating
contemporary arts.
In general, contemporary art is a
reflection of society's current issues
and concerns. Each contemporary
artwork has its own symbolism and
importance that reflects the artist's
perspective on these issues.
9. Evaluating Learning
Assessment: Quiz
 Define contemporary art
 What are the characteristics
of contemporary art?
 How does contemporary art
differ from traditional arts?
Ask students to write a reflection
paper on what they learned from the
lesson and how they can apply it in
their daily lives.
To evaluate learning, students will be
asked to present their posters to the
class and explain their chosen
artwork's symbolism and importance.
10. Additional Activities for
Application or Remediation
Students can further research
contemporary artists and their works,
as well as traditional arts and crafts
from different regions in the
Philippines. They can also participate
in community programs and cultural
events that promote and preserve
Philippine arts and culture.

Other Resources IV. PROCEDURES 1. Reviewing previous lesson or presenting the new lesson SUBJECT ORIENTATION Today's lesson is about contemporary Philippine arts from the regions. In our previous lesson, we talked about the definition of contemporary art in art historical, cultural, and stylistic terms. We will continue with this topic and discuss the difference between contemporary art and traditional arts.  Ask students what they know about contemporary arts and how they differ from traditional arts.  Present a brief overview of the previous lesson about traditional arts. Today, we will be discussing contemporary major artworks in the Philippines and their symbolism and importance. But before we start, can someone define what "contemporary art" means? 2. Establishing the purpose of the lesson By the end of this lesson, students will be able to:  Define contemporary art in art historical, cultural, and stylistic terms  State the objective of the lesson and its relevance in understanding the current issues and trends in society. At the end of the lesson, you should be able to cite and explain the symbolism and importance of major contemporary artworks in the Philippines.

Developing Mastery Interactive activity: Gallery Walk  Students will be divided into groups.  Divide the class into groups and assign each group a contemporary artwork to analyze.  Instruct them to identify the elements and principles used in Activity: Divide the class into groups of 3-4 students. Each group will choose one of the artworks discussed in class and create a poster that will explain the artwork's symbolism and

Finding practical applications of concepts and skills in daily living Students can apply their understanding of contemporary and traditional arts by creating their artwork that reflects contemporary society or Philippine culture.  Ask students to reflect on how they can apply the concepts and skills they learned in their daily lives.  Encourage them to appreciate and support contemporary arts by attending exhibits, concerts, and performances. Contemporary art is not just a form of expression or entertainment, but it is also a reflection of society's current issues and concerns. By understanding the symbolism and importance of contemporary artworks, we can gain a better understanding of our society and the issues that we need to address. 8. Generalizing and abstractions about the lesson Students will be able to recognize the value and significance of contemporary art in reflecting modern society's issues and culture, as well as the importance of preserving traditional arts as part of the Philippine cultural heritage.  Summarize the importance of contemporary arts in shaping society.  Encourage students to continue exploring and appreciating contemporary arts. In general, contemporary art is a reflection of society's current issues and concerns. Each contemporary artwork has its own symbolism and importance that reflects the artist's perspective on these issues. 9. Evaluating Learning Assessment: Quiz  Define contemporary art  What are the characteristics of contemporary art?  How does contemporary art differ from traditional arts? Ask students to write a reflection paper on what they learned from the lesson and how they can apply it in their daily lives. To evaluate learning, students will be asked to present their posters to the class and explain their chosen artwork's symbolism and importance. 10. Additional Activities for Application or Remediation Students can further research contemporary artists and their works, as well as traditional arts and crafts from different regions in the Philippines. They can also participate in community programs and cultural
