This document discusses the global issues associated with lack of access to safe drinking water. It notes that 2.2 million people, mostly children, die every year from water-related diseases. Half of the world's hospital beds are occupied by people suffering from these illnesses. Developing countries experience 80% of their diseases from contaminated water. While developed nations like the US treat their water with filters and chemicals to remove germs and minerals, many other places lack these systems. Boiling water is presented as an effective way to make it safer to drink in any location.

• Drinking water is also called potable water, and it is water of a decent
enough quality to consume or use with a very low risk of getting

from this water diseases.
3. What I know about water
• Tap water doesn't have
diseases because we boil it
to take the minerals and
germs but they still have a
little bit of germs but not a
lot.
4. What does the U.S do to our water
• In Mexico they don't have water fountains like us
because they don't have filters and chemicals and we
do that is why are water is clean and Mexico water is
dirty like the other countries in the world.
5. How to make drinking water safer
EXAMPLES
• I would use a metal can to boil water because it's
faster and a fire on a country or where ever I am.
• I wouldn't use glass can because it doesn't boil faster
than the metal and it will take a long time to boil.
