Extrusion Defects: Irregularities during the
process of Extrusion
• These are mainly due to Non uniform flow
and stress distribution
Further, temperature variations across the
billet during hot extrusion can also lead to
inhomogeneous deformation.
• Number of defects depends upon:
Wall friction
Wall temperature
