Objectives  All activities are focused on the new Wastewater Treatment Plant, that is
planned to be constructed in Novi Sad (initiated in 2021)
 In order to provide added-value for the decision-making processes, in terms of
effectiveness, optimized technological opportunities and minimized risks
As Expected impact 3 of the Project, in fact: supporting better-informed decision-making of end-users and stakeholders

Highlights  To improve climate change resilience of the WWTP
 To facilitate overall hygienic conditions in Novi Sad, as well as the environment
 To safeguard the potable water resources and the quality of the environment
in the areas located downstream and under the influence of the Danube River

Selection of WWTP location
• 12 potential locations (radius of 5 km from Pumping
Station GC2) were identified as possible construction
sites for the WWTP
• According to Pre-feasibility Study, the most appropriate
locations - Rokov Potok and Kaćki Put
• The least cost option – WWTP at location of Rokov Potok
for 400,000 PE

Construction of a WWTP with primary and secondary treatment
facilities

Vojvodina (January, 2019)
• Conceptual Design for the WWTP Novi Sad – adopted
• Feasibility study (FS) design will be started in a few weeks
• Development of CC Risk Assessment Study for the FS of the WWTP in Novi Sad - approved
The chosen WWTP location is optimal
from almost all considerations, but in
terms of pluvial flood risk it is not the
best option.
Our results strongly suggested that
some sort of flood defence (climate
adaptation) should be included into the
design to counteract the risk of flash
floods - significant added value of using
the FDM
