How a switch from omnivore diets to all
vegetarian diets in the US would affect
personal health, the economy, and the
environment.
3. Before we Started
The general consensus was that the outcome would be more or less good.
● Cows produce greenhouse gases
● There wouldn’t be much of a change in the economy
● The diet has personal health benefits

● Were using a lot of land to farm animals
○ Over crowded, farms
● 7% of greenhouse gases are produced by cows
● Wetland rice field
○ 29% of human generated methane

9. Environment: What If We Switch
● Less GreenHouse Gases
● We could use the land in a different way.
○ Plant crops to reverse the effects
■ 500 grams of CO2 per cubic meter
● But...
● Not completely the answer
○ If we raise the animals well there is no need to eat differently
■ Properly timed grazing
○ A Lot of emissions comes from the machinery needed to farm crops
