Healthy eggs
1. 1. Eggs and HealthOne thing unique about eggs isthat their effects on the healthare simultaneously both beenhyped about due to theirpositive benefits from their
highprotein content and nutrientsand yet criticized by othersbecause of high fat andcholesterol content. Thoughthis debate is seen to continue,it is best to shed some
light onboth sides so as to let theconsumer decide for him orherself what to follow. This may be a somewhat difficult to do since both sides have
reasonablearguments for the high or moderate consumption levels of eggs. Add to thatthe arguments of vegans and raw foodies about the potential hazards
ofconsuming eggs (and pretty much all other animal products and byproducts)and the information can be overwhelming for most people, especially thosewho just
love their morning breakfast omelet or egg salad sandwich snack.Advocates of egg consumption even categorize them under super food orfunctional food which
basically means it has a very significant nutrient contentby weight compared to others. Eggs are very high in protein and are evencategorized as a meat in the food
pyramid guide.Depending on which research, doctor, scientist or nutritionist you listen to (andperhaps the organization that sponsors the studies), they will
recommendvarying consumption levels of eggs. Most will attest to the fact that they are anexcellent source of essential macro and micronutrients needed by the
body tofunction well–protein being one of the most significant “grow” foodscontributing to optimal health. Add to that eggs’ availability at a reasonableprice and
can be prepared in a variety of ways. As such, eggs are an excellentfood for those who have higher protein requirements such as children andadolescents, those on a
diet, ovo-vegetarians, recovering patients and theelderly. They will recommend that daily consumption of eggs is good for you.Vegans argue that complete protein
as well as any other nutrient necessary forthe body to function is found in the plant kingdom. Apart from this, modern daycommercial egg production has literally
been “tainted” by various concerningissues from animal cruelty to allergic reactions to chemical residues.Much of the debate about limiting egg consumption has a
lot to do with thedreaded words fat and cholesterol. An egg contains approximately a little over200 milligrams of cholesterol which seems to logically dictate that it
should beconsumed in moderation. However the high levels of other nutrients found ineggs as well as the other factors come into play.Significant nutrients include
vitamins A, B12, C and E, lutein, zeaxanthin andlutien which all contribute to eye and muscle health as well as cellular integrityespecially during pregnancy and
lactation. In any debate however, both sides (except the vegan side) will support theconsumption of organic eggs as opposed to conventionally produced eggs.
2. 2. This greatly reduces if not eliminates allergic reactions, as well as ensures a saferproduct devoid of potentially harmful man-made chemicals.Read more on
