A new music industry report predicts that podcasting will revolutionise radio by
offering listeners “hundreds of John Peels who are driven by enthusiasm,
curiosity and taste [and] who are untouched by marketing and commercial
pressures”.
The 62-page document – 'Beyond The Soundbytes' published by MusicTank,
the music industry network of the University of Westminster – forecasts that
such podcasts “will be great for the development of interesting and new music,
as well as even more new music providers.”
MusicTank is organising a one-day conference to discuss the contents of its
report on 15 November at the Foreign Press Association in London, and
speakers include musician Billy Bragg, Association of Independent Music CEO
Alison Wenham and 'Music Week' editor Martin Talbot.
