Drug Addiction
Also called substance use disorder, is a disease that affects a person's brain
and behavior and leads to an inability to control the use of a legal or illegal
drug or medicine.
A drug is any chemical substance that
causes a change in an organism's
physiology or psychology when consumed.
Types of drugs:
• pharceutical drugs
• psychoactive drugs

• Drug misuse: is when you use legal or illegal substances in
ways you shouldn’t.
• Tolerance: happens when a dose of a substance becomes
less effective over time.

Cannabis remains the most widely used illicit substance in the
African Region

The highest prevalence and increase in use is being reported in
West and Central Africa with rates between 5.2% and 13.5%.
