3. INTRODUCTION
• Television is a profound means of communication and
capable of leaving the desirable effect .
• Capable to draw the attention of too many viewers
regardless of the literacy or illiteracy of its audiences.
• It offers facility of both listening and watching &
considered as most effective means of
communication.
• Nepal television was the first TV channel in Nepal
established in 1984 .
• At present 39 TV channel registered but only 18 TV
channel are operating(MOIC 2012)

from NTV .

5. OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY
• To trace out the most preferred agricultural programs
of the respondents.
• To know the preference criteria of agricultural
information by the respondents from the TV channels
available in the study area.
• To find out the relevancy of agricultural program in
television in disseminating agricultural information in
3 different ecological region of Nepal.
• To find out time preference by the respondents for
watching the agricultural programs.
6. RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Selection of area:
• 5 purposively selected district of Nepal .
Morang and Nawalparasi (Terai)
Udyapur and Lamjung (Hills)
Sindhupalanchock(Mountain).
Selection of the sample:
• Sample size 30 households were randomly selected
from the purposed district except sindhupalchowk.
• Where 60 households were randomly selected
• Total size of sample is 180

Techniques of data collection:
• Structured questionnaire consisting 46 questions were
prepared for data collection.
• Primary data were collected by household survey,
focus group discussions, and key information
interview.
• The secondary data were collected from the related
project documents, previous studies, journals and
governmental and non-governmental organization
.
Techniques of data analysis:
• All collected data were analyzed by using the
computer software called SPSS and data will be
presented in various table and graph.

17. CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION
• It was found that 85.56% people have their own TV set
and 73.89% people watch agriculture program on TV.
• The best preferred topic of respondent for agricultural
information was disease and pest control.
• 57.78% respondent told that the existing broadcasting
time is suitable for them.
• Technology adoption was found to be higher in terai
(72.1%)
• It is recommended to broadcast agriculture program in
late night.
• Most of people preferred drama like programs like
agricultural teleserial so it is recommended to increase
such type of programs.
