2. The protagonist called Scott is being bullied at school by two
people. This scene creates sympathy because we feel sorry
him, no one is helping him and we also can’t help him since
were not there. A mid-shot is used here to show that were far
away from him and we can not help. There’s a sound of kids
cheering on the bully while he beats up Scott and the setting
this fight is going on is in a urban area.
3. After the main bully scares Scott's dad, we have Scott's dad in the
shop buying milk for he’s tea. It could come to a conclusion that
something is going to happen between them two. The dad has a
really strong posture, this is showing he’s trying to stay strong
towards the bullies. He’s facial expression shows that he’s afraid
and the lighting is a bit dim. This shows that something bad could
happen to the dad when he goes out. Also there isn’t that much
sound in the shop, this could show that the tension is building.
4. In this part the bully knees Scott’s dad in the face and the rest laughs at
him. This shows that teenagers doesn’t have respect for adults and its
setting a bad reputation for teenagers. A high angle shot is used on the
dad to show were looking down on him, looks like he has a lower class
then us. Again there’s a crowd of students cheering on the bully and
making noise in the background.
5. In this section we have the dad walking home after buying the milk and
after he got hit by the bully. Behind him we can see the bullies are following
him home, maybe to start trouble. Since we have an handheld shot of the
dad walking home, this could show is anger is building up, he’s walking
home in kind of in unusual way.
6. In this scene Scott’s dad notice that Scott has been beaten up by
the bullies. There is a close up of the dad’s face to show his reaction
and concern he has for his son. Off screen shot of the sons face in
this scene.
7. In this part of the short film we had a mid-shot of the son and dads
face to show they are staring at something. Making us think what
they looking at must be really important and its distracting. In this
scene the bully is throwing stones at the house and the son and dad
are just watching him because they think he’s going to stop. There is
a mid-shot to both characters faces and the sons face is blurred out.
The son is much calmer then the dad, there reaction show
juxtaposition.
8. In this scene the main bully is pushing the dad and ends up
hitting him. Again this reflects badly on teenagers and makes
people think we have no respect for adults. This scene creates
sympathy for him because he’s all on his own. This print screen
shows that the bully takes the power from the dad and the dad
is left stranded. A handheld shot is used here showing that this
clip is being filmed. Lastly the teenager in the black hood shows
its typical of teenagers to wear them because it hides our
identity.
9. The final scene is where Scott had enough and brings out the cricket bat
and hits the main bully (the one in white) and scares of the rest. During this
scene Scott continuously attacks the main bully then walks back home. This
scene has happened on the a normal London/outside of London street. This
could mean, this could happen anywhere in or out of London.
