Putintseva began playing tennis at the age of six, coached by
her father Yevgeny Nikolayevich Putintsev, and mother Alla
Alexandrovna Putintseva. After turning professional in 2011,
she made steady progress in the rankings over the next few
years before reaching her first WTA Tour singles final at the
2016 Tianjin Open, where she lost to Caroline Garcia in
straight sets. She also made three Grand Slam quarterfinals
and reached her career-high singles ranking of world No. 27 in

player. She reached her career high ranking in February 2017
with an entry at number 27. In 2009, she won her first title in
Tashkent and also broke into top-100 for the first time that
year. After two successful years on ITF Circuit, Yulia joined
WTA Tour in 2011 when she entered Top 50 for first time.

is one of Asia’s rising tennis stars. Born in Chelyabinsk Oblast,
Putintseva moved to Almaty, Kazakhstan when she was six
years old. At age 10, she began training at tennis academies in
Bishkek and Astana. Just two years later, her father took her
to play at an academy in Slovakia where she lived for three
years.

Born in Yekaterinburg, Putintseva has been based mainly in
Italy since moving to her father’s home country in 2007. She is
fluent in English and Italian. She is currently ranked 27th on
the WTA Tour singles rankings. She is coached by Antonio
Minervino and has been studying marketing at Sapienza

father with her success on court as well as personally.

Yulia Antonovna Putintseva, who has been playing under her
father’s name since 2006, was born in Kyzylorda, Kazakhstan
on 21 August 1994. She is currently 24 years old and ranked
No. 27 in Women’s Singles tennis by the WTA as at 31 January
2017. Her current coach is Dimitar Vladimirov from Bulgaria.
