Feng Shui is a Chinese science. lt is more than 5000 years old, but it is very popular today.
In the Chinese language, "Feng" is "wind" and "Shui" is "water". According to Feng Shui,
there are many things you can use to make your life healthy, like colours and furniture. For
"good" Feng Shui, all the things in your life need to have a balance; your work, your friends,
even your house and furniture! When you have a good balance, you also have positive
energy, "Chi" or "Qi," as it is called in Feng Shui. Here are some things you can do in your
house to make sure you have good Feng Shui.
• Don't keep things you don't need. Do you REALLY need ten pairs of black shoes? No!
• Clean your house especially the bedroom, kitchen and bathroom. lt's the only way to start a healthy life.
• Rearrange the things in your bedroom. Don't put your bed opposite the door or next to a wall. Have two
bedside tables and use colours like white, light yellow or brown to paint the walls. Also, do not keep a computer
or TV in there. They bring bad energyl
• Make sure you have good light in your house all the time. Open the windows a lot, so you get good clean air and
light from outside.
• Clase all your doors at night, even the bathroom and wardrobe doors!

Big Brothers Big Sísters is a mentoring
organisation in the United States. it
helps children and teenagers from 6 to

school to find an adult friend. There
are volunteer programmes al! over the
country and they do a really good job.
First of all, you need to be interested in the programme. Then people from the
organisation check your background and you go through an interview. When everything
is ready, they match Bigs and Littles with the same likes and interests, according to the
area they live in. Then who knows? You can be friends forever!
What do the Bigs and Littles do together?
Well, you only need to spend a few hours a month with your Little and do everyday
stuff together, like play video games, order pizza, go for a walk in the park or just hang
out and talk. This is really important for the Littles.
There are so many children and teenagers out there that would lave to have a

You use yo~r eyes and read this text easily. But what about blind people?
How can they read?
They can read with Braille.
ll .· .
-"~'"-·--~~-1
~~~ 1
What is Braille?
Braille is a kind of alphabet. In this alphabet, small dots make up the letters of each word. Each
number of dots means a different letter. The dots stkk up ftom the páper, so the blind person feels
the dots and reads the letters.
'VVho invented Brail!f-~?
louis Braille. He was born in a small town near Paris, France, in 1809. He became blind at the age
of four. At a school for the blind in Paris, he learnt to read sorne raised capital letters. This kind of
alphabet was difficult and many blind people didn't like using it. Louis Braille wanted to help blind
people read and write easily, so he invented a new alphabet in 1829. He didn't use raised letters, but
raised dots. Louis Braille died in 1852 and two years later many schools for the blind started using
his alphabet.
Where is Braille used today?
Today, you can find Braille almost everywhere. lt is used on menus, watches and lifts! lt is also in
buildings like banks and libraries. There are also special computers for blind people. They can use
them to type things in Braille for other blind people to read.
The Leaning Tower of Pisa is a
famous building in Italy. Why is
it so famous? It's beautiful and
it also looks like it's going to fall
clown! They started building it in
1173, it took about two hundred
years to finish and it wasn't
straight from the very beginning.
It's about 60 metres tall and has
about 300 stairs. Many tourists
visit it every year. The building
isn't the biggest in the world, but
it is one of the most interesting!
The Ice Hotel near Ouebec city,
Canada, is a hotel completely made
of snow and ice! It was the first ice
hotel. in North America. The hotel
owners build the hotel every year
when the weather gets cold. So
you can only stay there during the
winter, of course. It is open from
January till April. Everything in the
hotel is made of ice: the furniture,
the walls, even the beds! Special
"ice artists" come from all over the
world to design the inside of the
place.. This hotel is definitely the
coldest hotel you can visit!
Read and answer the questions. w:e:N.Q. $~tfb, ~~e"~; dif.i~ o o: o CD o o Feng Shui is a Chinese science. lt is more than 5000 years old, but it is very popular today. In the Chinese language, "Feng" is "wind" and "Shui" is "water". According to Feng Shui, there are many things you can use to make your life healthy, like colours and furniture. For "good" Feng Shui, all the things in your life need to have a balance; your work, your friends, even your house and furniture! When you have a good balance, you also have positive energy, "Chi" or "Qi," as it is called in Feng Shui. Here are some things you can do in your house to make sure you have good Feng Shui. • Don't keep things you don't need. Do you REALLY need ten pairs of black shoes? No! • Clean your house especially the bedroom, kitchen and bathroom. lt's the only way to start a healthy life. • Rearrange the things in your bedroom. Don't put your bed opposite the door or next to a wall. Have two bedside tables and use colours like white, light yellow or brown to paint the walls. Also, do not keep a computer or TV in there. They bring bad energyl • Make sure you have good light in your house all the time. Open the windows a lot, so you get good clean air and light from outside. • Clase all your doors at night, even the bathroom and wardrobe doors! Each number of dots means a different letter. The dots stkk up ftom the páper, so the blind person feels the dots and reads the letters. 'VVho invented Brail!f-~? louis Braille. This kind of alphabet was difficult and many blind people didn't like using it. Louis Braille wanted to help blind people read and write easily, so he invented a new alphabet in 1829.
