Experience
Employer: YouMakeIt
Position: Design Intern
From/To: April 2015 – September 2015
Responsibilities:I was a design Intern during my placement year at University, troubleshooting concepts
and preparing those concepts for launch into the market place. Our goal was ‘bringing anyone’s bespoke,
unique and custom made ideas to life’. My key responsibilities were taking part in design contests and
developing briefs, along with expanding the network of users, designers and manufacturers. I won the first
project using the platform, designing a new hydroponics product. During my time I also designed a laptop
stand and several other products to prove the platform worked. This, along with pitching to investors
allowed for funds to be raised. The goal is to revolutionise the design and manufacture of products.
Employer: Chapman Ventilation
Position: Design Engineer
From/To: August 2014 – June 2015
Responsibilities:I spent the first part of my placement year with Chapman Ventilation, creating bespoke
ventilation systems for restaurants throughout the UK and abroad. Using CAD (Soligworks, AutoCAD
Light), I was part of the team designing all Five Guys kitchen equipment, for example, heated table,
labelling station, burger press etc. My designs are in many high profile establishments, including Nandos,
The Restaurant Group, Jamie’s Italian and more. I worked on the designs from concept to the finished
article.
Personal Interests and Further Information
My passion is sport, particularly Rugby. I have played from a young age and watch club and international
games. I also enjoy playing a wider range or sports and was nominated Vice Captain of my university
hockey team.
