FREELANCE DESIGN HISTORY
2009 - 2014 PKR.COM: Furniture Designer London, UK
Jez San the founder and president of PKR.COM, one of the UK’s leading online poker sites,
commissioned me to make a classic, elegant, luxurious and on the cutting-edge of most dining
experiences, a custom designed 10 seat dining room table with a twist, it transforms into streamline
poker table. The table is for his private residence and use. The duration was based on a part time
schedule coinciding with other commissions. Skills and experience utilized:
Design: I developed the concept through to completion, illustrating with freehand sketching
and CAD skills. I presented to the client casing materials, mechanical, electronic and research
knowledge. Pioneered bespoke surface finishes, FF&E, specifications, pricing and budgeting.
IT: Drafted professional, production ready technical drawings, using Adobe illustrator. Artistic
renderings for the visual model were produced in 3D Max and Photoshop prior to publishing.
Word and Outlook were used for general administration.
Liaising and Time Management: I worked to a tight drawing schedule for sign off. I
maintained amendments to the technical drawings as the project progressed and sourced
different supplier companies. I set the agenda for feedback meetings with both the client and
suppliers. Delivery and installation of the table was coordinated by myself.
Initiative:Numerous problems solving exercises occurred during the development of the table
that were resolved with speed and accuracy often giving rise to new component inventions all
managed by myself.
Administration and Communications: the table data was logged, filed, updated and
archived once the project was completed. I was first point of call for any questions or queries
for suppliers, manufacturers and the client.
2. 2009 PKR.COM: Furniture Designer London, UK
Jez San of PKR.COM. Second part of above commission. Designed an elaborate, mechanical fire table
that is freestanding, fumeless and equipped with retractable lid. Soft colour change flush fitting LED
lighting adorns the table surface. CAD and free hand sketching were used during the development of
the idea and custom engineering for electro-mechanical parts of the table. Project durations was 6
months.
2005 – 2009 Damaged Goods: Designer London, UK
Designed and manufactured for small businesses and individual clients associated with high-end
interior design, architectural and the fashion industry. Created accessories for a men’s wear clothing
retailer as pre-production prototypes which I then coordinated the overseas reproduction of. I quality
controlled the collection to an exceptional standard, 4 months after conception.
2002 - 2005 Coors Brewers: Interior/Product Designer London, UK
Coors Brewers are currently the one of the largest brewers in the world, with several brands under their
belt in hospitality. I worked on a number of bars and restaurants styling them under their banner. In
2003 Coors adjusted their profile, to portray a far more stylish, quirky image for the Carling signature. I
designed and manufactured products from menu holders to tables, through to architectural based work
such as heavy duty bronze forecourt railings and clocks created in my London based workshop. I played
an essential role in design, manufacture, quality control and installation addressing the product integrity,
ease of manufacture and aesthetic value in the early planning stage.
