I am a time-served fabricator welder with 33 years offshore experience on construction projects, platform
maintenance and drilling units. I have been in my current employment with Transocean for the past 31
years
I enjoy the challenges of planning and undertaking a wide variety of task as required on a daily basis and
working as part of the maintenance team.
I actively support the safety culture on board and have been a safety rep. both in UK and Norway for a
number of years.
In my leave time I enjoy motorcycling, attending rallies and various charitable events.
I am also a collector of Japanese and Scottish swords and have a keen interest in military history.

Coded Rig welder on semi-submersible drilling unit in UK North Sea
Duties include all aspects of general maintenance. New fabrication and installation projects, responsible for
stock checking and ordering materials and consumables for projects and day to day maintenance. I also
undertake the role of safety representative on the installation.

2. Coded Rig welder on Semi submersible drilling unit in the UK North Sea and Norway.
Responsible for the general maintenance of the drilling unit, assisting the mechanical and electrical
departments with various projects as required.
I was also involved in shipyard upgrade project both in the UK and Norway.
Transocean John Shaw May 1998 - March 2000
Employed as coded rig welder on Semi-submersible drilling unit in the UK North Sea.
Duties undertaken included all aspects of maintenance and major projects including crane cab and engine
compartment rebuilds. Shaker installations with all pipe work required.
Paul B.Lloyd June 1993 - May 1998
Coded rig welder involved in various pipe work refurbishment projects and general drilling cover while
unit was operating West of Shetland for BP.
Transocean Rather May 1987 - June 1993
Coded welder responsible for all aspects of rig maintenance. and drilling requirements, including design
and installation of new ROV launch area in moon pool, while the unit was drilling in the UK North Sea and
removal and replacement of shaker system while offshore Italy.

Coded rig welder on new build, ongoing construction and modifications while on tow from Singapore to
Oman, general rig welder duties while drilling in Straits of Hormuz, upgrade for water depth while on tow
to GOM.

Coded rig welder responsible for all welding projects under the control of the rigs Ch. Engineer.
While drilling in UK North Sea .
Transferred with rig to Brazil, drilling in Campos Basin, I was involved in the fitting of the first top drive
on a Sonat drilling unit.
I also supervised two local employed welders for the one year duration of the turnkey contract.
Aberdeen Service Company Feb 1980 - April 1984
Coded welder employed on production platform maintenance on BP Forties Alpha and Forties Bravo
working directly for platform engineer.
I was also charge hand for the dedicated multi-disciplined maintenance. Crew on Dunlin Alpha platform
involved in planned shutdowns and refurbishment.

Coded pipe welder on offshore hook-up of Shell Brent Bravo production platform.

Coded pipe welder on construction of drilling and production modules for various offshore projects.
