(2008-Current) Sealord
• Fishing Vessel FV Rehua Chief Engineer
• Rehua is a 66mtr 3800kw factory trawler with 45 to 50 crew, she is equipped with full
processing and refrigeration plant. As Chief Engineer I am 2nd
ranking officer to the
Master, I am involved in crew conflict resolution, I am responsible for all aspects of
maintenance aboard the vessel, I am team leader for a total 6 engineers as well as the
occasional trainee who joins the team from time to time. We maintain and repair any
issues arising with but not limited to all of the following systems, hydraulics, electrical,
Refrigeration, propulsion, processing machinery, Sanitary equipment and domestic
appliances. The Rehua has a full workshop with a Lathe, welders and Milling machines
to name a few, I have fabricated as well as repaired parts that would normally be
beyond repair to keep process’s going and the vessel operational for the duration of a
normal trip, I have repaired main engine components including rebuilding main engine
units, cylinder head repairs, changing out fuel pumps and injectors at sea as well as
repairs to processing plants and machinery as well.

• Paerangi was a 77mtr 6800kw factory trawler, the 1’st engineer reported directly to the
Chief Engineer and covers his responsibilities including the overseeing the other 4 lower
ranking engineering officers on my watch, Under the Chief I was responsible for all
aspects of maintenance aboard the ship during his 12hrs off, this included but was not
limited to the following, hydraulics, electrical, Refrigeration, propulsion, processing
machinery and Sanitary equipment domestic appliances and anything else that may
have compromised the vessels or processing equipments performance or potentially
brought us in out of a scheduled docking.
