About
Octagonal Blender (OB), due to its octagonal shape is designed to process larger volume of
material. It occupies less space compared to other similar blenders like 'V' and Double
Cone.
Power consumption is also less. The blending takes place at low speed during operation. It
is well balanced even in higher capacities. It is very useful for wherein gentle blending of
dry granules of powder is to be done. It is a slow speed blender and has removable type
baffles mounted on a rectangular shell.
The important feature of the machine is easy to wash in place. Octagonal
blender is supplied with a bin charging system or can be designed for vacuum
charging.
Dust free charging system is also incorporated, which is a completely closed
system for charging and discharging of powders or granules.
The power consumption is comparatively lower than other similar type of
blenders. The machine basically consists of shell welded with conical Octagonal
shape ends and supported with sturdy supports on both side.
One hand side shaft is connected to a standard gearbox by means of chain and
sprockets, which in turn is coupled to an electric motor. The whole drive
assembly is covered with S.S. side panel.
The inside portion of Octa body is mirror polished and the outside surface of
Octa body; frame & guards are matt polished. The material to be mixed is
charged in machine either manually from top or bin charging system or
vacuum charging system and then the port is locked positively.
Then blender is started to preset blending time. At the end of process, machine
is stopped and the product is transferred to process containers by opening the
butterfly value. All contact parts are made out of SS 304/ SS 316 or SS 316L
quality material.
Machine Description
It is very useful for pharmaceutical industries wherein gentle blending of dry granules of
powder is to be done. Octagonal blender, due to its octagonal shape is designed to process
larger volume of material.
The machine basically consists octa body, support frame & drive assembly. The octa body
is fabricated from SS 316 plate having square shell welded with conical octagonal shape
ends at bottom & top side shell. The pneumatically operated butterfly valve is provided at
the bottom of the cone for easy transferring the material into the container . On the top of
octagonal body rectangular manhole is provided with easy open able of the cover. For
charging the materials by vacuum, tri clover nozzle with pneumatically operated butterfly is
provided on the manhole cover.

Machine Description
The SS 316 rigid pipe with tri clover end is clamped with charging nozzle & fitted on
octagonal body and other end of the rigid pipe is connected with flexible hose pipe for
sucking the material from the Bin. The vacuum charging nozzle with pot along with filter
Disc is provided on the manhole cover. The pot is having 50 dia. T.C. With butterfly valve for
Vacuum and 50 T.C. with butterfly valve & 20 # Sintered Filter. The SS 316 rigid pipe with tri
clover end is clamped with vacuum nozzle & fitted on octagonal body. Other end of the
rigid pipe is connected with flexible hose pipe. The octagonal body inner surfaces are
mirror polished and outer surfaces are dull polished.
Machine Description
The support arm is welded on the outside portion of the octagonal body which is fabricated
from M.S. plate & cladded with SS sheet. The M.S. flanges are welded on support arm for
connecting the octagonal body with the shaft which is mounted on the Plummer block and
supported with sturdy supports on both side. The right hand side shaft is connected to a
standard hollow gearbox and coupled with motor by means of love joy coupling. The
whole drive assembly is covered with S.S. side panel. The outside portion of the blender is
dull polished.
Machine Description
Octa blender is designed for vacuum charging system and gravity charging system. The
material is charge through bin into the blender with help of vacuum system by connecting
the flexible hose pipe. After blending, material is discharge into the bin. The vacuum pump
with separator is optional accessory.
For gravity charging, the 600L square bin is connected with elevator and bin is position over
the charging port of the blender.
The blender is rotating at a speed of 12 RPM. The blender speed can be varying from 2 to
12 RPM by using AC drive.
Electricals: Main Panel
The blender is offered in NON FLAME PROOF constructions. The machine has
two panels.
Main Panel: The NFLP control panel all switchgear are mounted on the M.S.
plate . The Plate is mounted inside the M.S. painted panel and panel is placed
in the technical area.

Electricals: Main Panel
Operating Panel: The operating panel is consists of HMI, Control On/Off switch,
emergency off button. All are housed in SS panel box. The panel is mounted on the "A"
type RHS frame of the blender.
The HMI shall display process control parameters like RPM, Machine state, Alarm, manual /
automated process, integrated operator guidance, user details etc. The software details is
as below and it shall comply with 21 CFR/EU GMP annexure 11

VI. Blender Speed : 12 RPM (variable from 2 to 12 RPM)
VII. Electrical : Non Flame Proof.
VIII. Operating Panel : Consists of HMI, Emergency OFF, control ON/OFF Buttons. All
are enclosed in SS panel box. The panel is mounted on machine
“A” type frame.

X. Filter : Filter is provided In line with vacuum line. Type - 20 # cotton Filter.
Filter is mounted on LHS frame of blender.

Material.

Working
Blenders are used for mixing, lubricating and blending in Pharmaceutical, Nutraceutical,
Food, Chemical, cosmetics, ceramics, pesticide, plastics and other Allied industries
Two third of the volume of the cone blender is filled to ensure proper mixing. The octagonal
shape blenders have six corner of product container for more tumbler effect to the material
for fast and homogenizing mixing. It can perform homogenously dry mixing of free flowing
powders, granules requiring low shearing force, Mixing and Blending of particles with rapid
intermixing of particles irrespective of varying specific gravities.
The material is loaded into the blender drum. The octagonal blender is tumbles the material
in the container and spread out. Blender gives best result for granules due to very slow speed
and octagon shape of container. The mixing is achieved in 5 to 15 minutes with better
homogeneity.
Process Description
Charging the Product :-
I. Close the discharge valve, manhole cover, charging and vacuum port valve.
II. Connect the bin-600 L with elevator arm.
III. Take up the bin to charging height.
IV. Position the bin over the charging port of the blender(manually)
V. Take bin down till it rest on charging port.
VI. Open the valve of the charging nozzle.
VII. Then open the valve of the bin.
VIII. Material gets charge into blender; close both valve i.e. bin and charging nozzle.
IX. Take the bin up and take it down.
X. Similar process is carried out till complete material get charge into blender.
Process Description
Blending Operation :-
I. Start the blender by pressing blender "ON" button. Blending operation
can be
started for a preset blending time.
II. Blender will start in creep speed and then it will change over to blending
speed. (At Preset blending speed & time)
III. After Blending time is over Blender will automatically stop and switched
over
to creep Speed & stop in vertical 02 position (i.e. valve at bottom side )
Process Description
Discharge the Product:-
I. To discharge the product, select the "DISCHARGE" mode.
II. Place empty bin below the blender discharge port
III. To transfer the materials into the bin, press the discharge open button.
IV. Close discharge after bin gets filled.
V. Remove the bin and take it for the next process.
VI. Repeat the same procedure till the complete discharge is over.
Safety Features
I. All electrical interlocks are provided.
II. S.S Guard is provided on drive end.
III. Brake is provided for stopping the blender in verticals position
IV. Safety railing is provided around the blender. Railing gate is interlock with blender
through limit switch.
V. The photo cell reflector is provided below the discharge of blender. If any bin below
the discharge, then blender will not rotate.
FAT Procedure
Factory Acceptance Test procedure shall be as follows:
After the computation of erection work of the machine, client shall be informed to
perform the Factory Acceptance Test [FAT].
Client shall perform the FAT at the manufacturer site and record all the data in the
prescribed FAT document as per the details given below:

III. Deficiency and Corrective Action Report
IV. Pre-Installation requirements
V. Final report

I. Material handling in Octa Blender is through Bin charging or a Vacuum charging
system.
II. Bin charging system ensures Dust free closed system for Charging and Discharging
of Product.

OB Octagonal Blender

  • 3. About Octagonal Blender (OB), due to its octagonal shape is designed to process larger volume of material. It occupies less space compared to other similar blenders like 'V' and Double Cone. Power consumption is also less. The blending takes place at low speed during operation. It is well balanced even in higher capacities. It is very useful for wherein gentle blending of dry granules of powder is to be done. It is a slow speed blender and has removable type baffles mounted on a rectangular shell.
  • 4. The important feature of the machine is easy to wash in place. Octagonal blender is supplied with a bin charging system or can be designed for vacuum charging. Dust free charging system is also incorporated, which is a completely closed system for charging and discharging of powders or granules. The power consumption is comparatively lower than other similar type of blenders. The machine basically consists of shell welded with conical Octagonal shape ends and supported with sturdy supports on both side.
  • 5. One hand side shaft is connected to a standard gearbox by means of chain and sprockets, which in turn is coupled to an electric motor. The whole drive assembly is covered with S.S. side panel. The inside portion of Octa body is mirror polished and the outside surface of Octa body; frame & guards are matt polished. The material to be mixed is charged in machine either manually from top or bin charging system or vacuum charging system and then the port is locked positively. Then blender is started to preset blending time. At the end of process, machine is stopped and the product is transferred to process containers by opening the butterfly value. All contact parts are made out of SS 304/ SS 316 or SS 316L quality material.
  • 6. Machine Description It is very useful for pharmaceutical industries wherein gentle blending of dry granules of powder is to be done. Octagonal blender, due to its octagonal shape is designed to process larger volume of material. The machine basically consists octa body, support frame & drive assembly. The octa body is fabricated from SS 316 plate having square shell welded with conical octagonal shape ends at bottom & top side shell. The pneumatically operated butterfly valve is provided at the bottom of the cone for easy transferring the material into the container . On the top of octagonal body rectangular manhole is provided with easy open able of the cover. For charging the materials by vacuum, tri clover nozzle with pneumatically operated butterfly is provided on the manhole cover.

  • 8. Machine Description The SS 316 rigid pipe with tri clover end is clamped with charging nozzle & fitted on octagonal body and other end of the rigid pipe is connected with flexible hose pipe for sucking the material from the Bin. The vacuum charging nozzle with pot along with filter Disc is provided on the manhole cover. The pot is having 50 dia. T.C. With butterfly valve for Vacuum and 50 T.C. with butterfly valve & 20 # Sintered Filter. The SS 316 rigid pipe with tri clover end is clamped with vacuum nozzle & fitted on octagonal body. Other end of the rigid pipe is connected with flexible hose pipe. The octagonal body inner surfaces are mirror polished and outer surfaces are dull polished.
  • 9. Machine Description The support arm is welded on the outside portion of the octagonal body which is fabricated from M.S. plate & cladded with SS sheet. The M.S. flanges are welded on support arm for connecting the octagonal body with the shaft which is mounted on the Plummer block and supported with sturdy supports on both side. The right hand side shaft is connected to a standard hollow gearbox and coupled with motor by means of love joy coupling. The whole drive assembly is covered with S.S. side panel. The outside portion of the blender is dull polished.
  • 10. Machine Description Octa blender is designed for vacuum charging system and gravity charging system. The material is charge through bin into the blender with help of vacuum system by connecting the flexible hose pipe. After blending, material is discharge into the bin. The vacuum pump with separator is optional accessory. For gravity charging, the 600L square bin is connected with elevator and bin is position over the charging port of the blender. The blender is rotating at a speed of 12 RPM. The blender speed can be varying from 2 to 12 RPM by using AC drive.
  • 11. Electricals: Main Panel The blender is offered in NON FLAME PROOF constructions. The machine has two panels. Main Panel: The NFLP control panel all switchgear are mounted on the M.S. plate . The Plate is mounted inside the M.S. painted panel and panel is placed in the technical area.
  • 13. Electricals: Main Panel Operating Panel: The operating panel is consists of HMI, Control On/Off switch, emergency off button. All are housed in SS panel box. The panel is mounted on the "A" type RHS frame of the blender. The HMI shall display process control parameters like RPM, Machine state, Alarm, manual / automated process, integrated operator guidance, user details etc. The software details is as below and it shall comply with 21 CFR/EU GMP annexure 11 PLC – Rslogix500, version-9.00 HMI - Factory talk view studio, version-9.00

  • 19. Technical Specifications VI. Blender Speed : 12 RPM (variable from 2 to 12 RPM) VII. Electrical : Non Flame Proof. VIII. Operating Panel : Consists of HMI, Emergency OFF, control ON/OFF Buttons. All are enclosed in SS panel box. The panel is mounted on machine “A” type frame. IX. Control panel : Non flame proof panel - all switchgear are mounted on the M.S. and plate is mounted inside the M.S. painted panel. The panel is placed in the technical area.

Blenders are used for mixing, lubricating and blending in Pharmaceutical, Nutraceutical, Food, Chemical, cosmetics, ceramics, pesticide, plastics and other Allied industries Two third of the volume of the cone blender is filled to ensure proper mixing. The octagonal shape blenders have six corner of product container for more tumbler effect to the material for fast and homogenizing mixing. It can perform homogenously dry mixing of free flowing powders, granules requiring low shearing force, Mixing and Blending of particles with rapid intermixing of particles irrespective of varying specific gravities. The material is loaded into the blender drum. The octagonal blender is tumbles the material in the container and spread out. Blender gives best result for granules due to very slow speed and octagon shape of container. The mixing is achieved in 5 to 15 minutes with better homogeneity.
  • 24. Process Description Charging the Product :- I. Close the discharge valve, manhole cover, charging and vacuum port valve. II. Connect the bin-600 L with elevator arm. III. Take up the bin to charging height. IV. Position the bin over the charging port of the blender(manually) V. Take bin down till it rest on charging port. VI. Open the valve of the charging nozzle. VII. Then open the valve of the bin. VIII. Material gets charge into blender; close both valve i.e. bin and charging nozzle. IX. Take the bin up and take it down. X. Similar process is carried out till complete material get charge into blender.
  • 25. Process Description Blending Operation :- I. Start the blender by pressing blender "ON" button. Blending operation can be started for a preset blending time. II. Blender will start in creep speed and then it will change over to blending speed. (At Preset blending speed & time) III. After Blending time is over Blender will automatically stop and switched over to creep Speed & stop in vertical 02 position (i.e. valve at bottom side )
  • 26. Process Description Discharge the Product:- I. To discharge the product, select the "DISCHARGE" mode. II. Place empty bin below the blender discharge port III. To transfer the materials into the bin, press the discharge open button. IV. Close discharge after bin gets filled. V. Remove the bin and take it for the next process. VI. Repeat the same procedure till the complete discharge is over.
  • 27. Safety Features I. All electrical interlocks are provided. II. S.S Guard is provided on drive end. III. Brake is provided for stopping the blender in verticals position IV. Safety railing is provided around the blender. Railing gate is interlock with blender through limit switch. V. The photo cell reflector is provided below the discharge of blender. If any bin below the discharge, then blender will not rotate.
  • 28. FAT Procedure Factory Acceptance Test procedure shall be as follows: After the computation of erection work of the machine, client shall be informed to perform the Factory Acceptance Test [FAT]. Client shall perform the FAT at the manufacturer site and record all the data in the prescribed FAT document as per the details given below: I. Test criteria II. Design Verification Checklist III. Deficiency and Corrective Action Report IV. Pre-Installation requirements V. Final report
