Here meet the fourth of six entities accounted for in the final two chapters of John's Revelation. Truth to tell, Revelation merely hints at Israel's end-times story, for it is, after all, a book written to/for the churches. The full story of the Jews in the 70th Week traces an arc of suffering that begins with seeming peace and safety and ends with God's people seemingly on the brink of extinction. Nevertheless, as Paul says here and there: "But God . . . ! How God steps in to rescue and preserve His chosen people and how He turns their hearts to His Son as their Messiah should thrill every Christian. Gives me goosebumps!

two competing mindsets:

Pessimism and Fear
VERSUS
Courageous Steadfast Hope
28. JEWS IN THE 70TH WEEK
Mindset 1: The Case For Fear
29. TRACING AN ARC OF SUFFERIN
G:
Act I: Establishing a Sense of Fals
e Security (1)
1. Seemingly Safe and Wealthy: Ezekiel 38: 8, 11+12
8: âBrought out from the nations living securely, all
of them . . .â
11: âunwalled villages . . . at rest . . that live securely,
all of them, without walls having no bars or
gates . . .â
12: a people âwho have acquired cattle and goods . . .â
and (13) âsilver and gold . . . cattle and goodsâ in
quantities sufficient to excite Gog to a lust for plunder.
30. Oh, Berean Christian, tighten your grip on The Word!
ALERT!!! The author of this piece inserts an element of
his own understanding of scripture. Know that good
and honest Christians hold other views of the matter.
Of what do I speak? I believe that Ezekiel 38 and 39 describe
events that take place on the threshold of the 70th Week. I
believe that these events establish the conditions under
which the 70th Week will begin. Please know that I could
MIS-understand how God intends us to respond to these two
pivotal chapters. Be open to my response and seek out other
contrary and honorable alternatives as you study further.
31. TRACING AN ARC OF SUFFERIN
G:
Act I: Establishing a Sense of Fals
e Security (2)
2. Seemingly Back in Godâs Favor: Ezekiel 39
3: God crushes the invader: âAnd I shall strike your bow
from your left hand and dash down your arrows from
your right hand.â
4: âYou shall fall on the mountains of Israel . . . and I
shall give you as food to every kind of predatory bird.â
Can we blame the Jews for thinking that God has saluted
their righteousness even though they still reject Jesus as
Christ? After all, He just rescued them miraculously
from Gog!
32. TRACING AN ARC OF SUFFERIN
G:
Act I: Establishing a Sense of Fals
e Security (3)
3. Seemingly Safe and Wealthy: Daniel 11: 21 + 24
(which I place after the events of Ezekiel 38 + 9)
11: The political figure who will, in 31/2 years, become
the AntiChrist, initially âwill come in a time of
tranquility.â After Gogâs fall, peace once more!
24: âIn a time of tranquility, he will enter the richest
parts of the realm . . .â Notice the word ârichestâ:
again, a reference to wealth Israelis have accumulated
just prior to the 70th Week.
33. TRACING AN ARC OF SUFFERIN
G:
Act I: Establishing a Sense of Fals
e Security (4)
4. Beguiled and Befriended: Daniel 9: 27, 11: 23
9:27ââAnd he (soon to be AntiChrist) will make a firm
covenant with the many . . .â to begin the 70th Week.
11:23â âAnd after an alliance is made with him (the
soon to be AntiChrist . . .â
What content or assurances does this covenant contain?
Is this the âholy covenantâ of Daniel 11:30 against which
the AntiChrist rages? Nonetheless, a friendly
relationship starts the 70th Week with the appearance of
a friendly new foreign collaborator.
34. TRACING AN ARC OF SUFFERIN
G:
Act II: Betrayed (1)
1. Betrayed: Daniel 11: 23, 31
11:23â âAnd after an alliance is made with him, he (the
soon to be AntiChrist) will practice deception . . .â
11:31â âAnd forces from him will arise, desecrate the
sanctuary fortress and do away with the regular
sacrifice . . . set up abomination of desolationâ
AntiChrist, resurrected and enraged, turns on the Jews,
his erstwhile friends and colleagues of covenant.
35. TRACING AN ARC OF SUFFERIN
G:
Act III: Assaulted (1)
1. Assaulted: Daniel 11: 32, 34; 12:1
11:32â âAnd by smooth words he will turn to
godlessness those who act wickedly towards the
covenant . . .â
11:33â â. . .they (godly Jews) will fall by the sword
and by flame, by captivity and by plunder. . .â
12:1â âAnd there will be a time of distress such as
never occurred since there was a nation until that
time . . .â
36. TRACING AN ARC OF SUFFERIN
G:
Act III: Assaulted (2)
2. Assaulted: Revelation 12
12:13â âAnd when the dragon saw that he was thrown
down to the earth. he persecuted the woman (Israel)
who had given birth to the male Child (Jesus) . . .â
12:15â âAnd the serpent poured water like a river out
of his mouth after the woman, so that he might cause
her to be swept away with the flood. . .â
Daniel 11:22â âAnd the overflowing forces will be
flooded away before him . . .â I wonder if these âfloodsâ
are in anyway related? Just asking!
37. TRACING AN ARC OF SUFFERIN
G:
Act IV: Pressed to Extinction
1. Crushed: Zechariah 14:1â âI will gather all the nations
against Jerusalem to battle, and . . .
the city will be captured
houses plundered
women ravished
half the city exiled
2. Ripped: 13:8â âAnd it will come about in all the
land . . . that two parts (2/3) in it will be cut off and
perish . . .â
38. Oh, Berean Christian, tighten your grip on The Word!
Does a negligent God seem heartless? See how He
allows Satan to press His people to the very brink of
extinction . . . to the very precipice of doom! Heartless?
No. God yearns to rescue. Prophecy declares Godâs rescue,
its details, its sequence, its glory and its good effect. But first,
first, a stubborn, proud and rebellious people must repent,
must âcall on My Nameâ and say, âJesus is our Messiah!â God
must wait for that moment, suffer with them, but wait. Jesus
says: âYou shall not see Me until you say, âBlessed is He
(Jesus) who comes in the Name of the Lord.â
Matt 23:39

Almost every OT book warns the Jews about the
folly of disobedience and faithlessness to the
covenant they made under Moses with God.
Reams of prophetic material exist that spell out
Israelâs role in the end times.
Daniel 11:33 promises âpeople with insight who
will give understanding to the manyâ. They use
this information to guide those who listen.
