4. A King Like No Other
The Gospel of Luke 19:28-44
5. 28 And when he had said these things,
The Gospel of Luke 19:28-44
he went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem.
6. 29 When he drew near to Bethphage and
The Gospel of Luke 19:28-44
Bethany, at the mount that is called Olivet,
he sent two of the disciples, 30 saying,
“Go into the village in front of you, where
on entering you will find a colt tied, on
which no one has ever yet sat. Untie it
and bring it here. 31 If anyone ask you,
7. ‘Why are you untying it?’ you shall say
The Gospel of Luke 19:28-44
this: ‘The Lord has need of it.’” 32 So
those who were sent away found it just
as he had told them. 33 And as they were
untying the colt, its owners said to them,
“Why are you untying the colt?” 34 And
they said, “The Lord has need of it.”
8. “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion!
Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem!
Behold, your King is coming to you;
righteous and having salvation is he,
humble and mounted on a donkey,
on a colt, the foal of a donkey.”
~ Zechariah 9:9
10. 35 And they brought it to Jesus, and
The Gospel of Luke 19:28-44
throwing their cloaks on the colt, they
set Jesus on it. 36 And as he rode along,
they spread their cloaks on the road.
11. 37 As he was drawing near—already on
The Gospel of Luke 19:28-44
the way down the Mount of Olives—the
whole multitude of disciples began to
rejoice and praise God with a loud voice
for all the mighty works they had seen,
12. 38 saying, “Blessed is the King who
The Gospel of Luke 19:28-44
who comes in the name of the Lord!
Peace in heaven and glory in the
highest!”
13. “Blessed is he who comes
in the name of the Lord.”
~ Psalm 118
14. 39 And some of the Pharisees in the
The Gospel of Luke 19:28-44
crowd said to him, “Teacher, rebuke
your disciples.”
15. “If we let him go on
like this, everyone will
believe in him, and the
Romans will come and
take away both our
place and our nation.”
~ The Chief Priests and the Pharisees
in the Gospel of John 11:48
16. The Gospel of Luke 19:28-44
40 He answered, “I tell you, if these were
silent, the very stones would cry out.”
17. 41 And when he drew near and saw the
The Gospel of Luke 19:28-44
city, he wept over it, 42 saying, “Would
that you, even you, had known this day
the things that would make for peace!
But now they are hidden from your eyes.”
21. “Woe to you, scribes and
Pharisees, hypocrites! For
you are like whitewashed
tombs, which outwardly
appear beautiful, but within
are full of dead people’s
bones and all uncleanness.
So you also appear
righteous to others, but
within you are full of
hypocrisy and lawlessness.”
~ Jesus of Nazareth in
The Gospel of Matthew 23:27-28
22. 43 “For the days will come upon you,
The Gospel of Luke 19:28-44
when your enemies will set up a barricade
around you and hem you in on every side
44 and tear you down to the ground, you
and your children within you. And they
will not leave one stone upon another in
you, because you did not know the time
of your visitation.”
23.
24. Jesus is a King you would
willingly give your life for b/c
he willingly gave his life for you
to give you true peace.
26. “Let not your hearts be
troubled. Believe in
God; believe also in
me…. Peace I leave
with you; my peace I
give to you. I do not
give as the world gives.
Do not let your hearts
be troubled, and do not
be afraid.”
~ Jesus of Nazareth in
The Gospel of John 14:1, 27
27. “I know men; and I tell you that
Jesus Christ is no mere man.
Between Him and every other
person in the world there is no
possible term of comparison.
Alexander, Caesar, Charle-
magne, and I have founded
empires. But on what did we
rest the creations of our genius?
Upon force! Jesus Christ
founded His empire upon love;
and at this hour millions of men
would die for Him.”
~ Napoleon Bonaparte
1769-1821
28. “Jesus’ impact was greater
a hundred years after his
death than during his life; it
was greater still after five
hundred years; after a
thousand years his legacy
laid the foundation for much
of Europe; after two
thousand years he has
more followers in more
places than ever.”
30. “In your hearts
set apart
Christ as Lord.”
~ The Apostle Peter
in 1 Peter 3:15 (NIV)
31. There is a Jesus we want
and the Jesus who is,
