2. • There are two types of reproductive cells the female cell called an ovum and the male called the sperm.
• This cells contain genetic information from both parents.
• The ovum contains the nutrients that the baby will need to depelop. And the sperm has a long tail which helps it
to move
3. • Conception is when the ovum and sperm
• join together and form zygote.
• The zygote starts to divide again and
again and grows while travels to the
uterus.
• Soon the zygote becomes an embryo.
4. •
The embryo attaches itself to the uterus wall for protection.
• During the pregnancy, the embryo floats in amniotic fluid
which is inside the amniotoc sac.
• The amniotic sac is a kind of bag which develops around the
embryo in order to protect it.
5. • Three months after fertilisation, the embryo becomes a
foetus. Before that, an organ called the placenta is
formed in the uterus to take oxygen and nutrients from
the mother to the baby.
• The umblical cord connects the placenta and the baby.
6. The foetus continues to grow until the ninth month when it grows very
quickly and gains weight.
7. Birth takes place at the end of the ninth months of pregnancy.
The contractions help to push the baby out of the mother´s
body. When the baby comes out, the umblical cord is cut
.This is the way a new life starts.
