1. • GYASA are a Students, Youths & Civil society of Gorkhas
that works for the welfare of Indian Gorkha community
settled in different parts of India.
• We are a civil association established in 2014 and was
initiated by like-minded Gorkha youth based in Delhi to
connect all Gorkha people from across the country.
• GYASA has its support & membership from Gorkha
individuals and organizations from Manipur, Assam,
Dehradun, Darjeeling, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Delhi,
Gurgaon, Noida, Mumbai, Pune and other parts of the
country. We initiated the concept of #Gorkhalism (unity
of all Gorkhas as “Indian Gorkhas”)
2. • We work closely with other North-eastern
communities, bodies and individuals on various
socio-cultural issues.
• Currently, Our association is most active in Delhi
and Gurgaon region and has been working on
uniting the voice of Gorkha living in the region.
• A Strong support system for Gorkhas in Delhi, who
are working closely with Delhi police for NorthEast,
and authorities to get our voice heard.
3. • Helped a Gorkha brother who was caught in case
of trespassing property and assisted him and his
release from Sarojini Nagar Police Station in June
• Assisted a Gorkha didi who was found in Delhi
Park. We took them to hospital, their family
came and now they are back home safely in
Darjeeling in July 2015
• Took up the case of the 3 Gorkha youths
assaulted and worked with various other Gorkha
organizations and individuals to seek justice for
the victims. Today, the case is in the court and
the first hearing was scheduled for 16th
of June
2015, BAIL was DENIED. (Ongoing)
• Took up the case of a Gorkha girl assaulted by a
stalker and fighting for justice in the court. Case
is being pursued in Haryana District Court and
the next hearing is 24th August, 2015. (Ongoing)
Initiatives
4. ● Assisting in a Gorkha lady being assaulted
by an Auto-Rickshaw driver in Gurgaon who
was using bad languages like “kitne me
chalegi” and other. FIR is registerd in Sector
- 29 Gurgaon at this present point in time.
● Conceptualized #SaveNepal, #RebuildNepal
project and conducted a donation drive in
Delhi. Collected about 9 lakhs in a weeks time,
Worked with different NGOs and other
organizations on the project. Today, we have
adopted a village, Chalalganesthan, Ward no
Kabrepallanchock dirstrict in Nepal. Our
volunteers have build 41 bamboo and Jasta
houses and trained the locals too. We Hired a
paid team of bamboo experts from Manipur
and sent them to Nepal for the same.
● Organised 201st Bhanu Jayanti & 1st all
Delhi/NCR Gorkha with Delhi Police for
Northeast on 14th July, 2015 at Jt
Commissioner of Police Conference hall and
was hosted by Robin Hibu IPS, IGP(Nodal
officer for Northeast)
5. • Intervening and running for various unregistered crime
offences across Delhi and Gurgaon at odd hours. Most of
these cases relate to intoxicated brawls. Have taken
people to hospitals and advise them on maintaining public
decorum.
• Supported Arunachal Pradesh Civil society for their fight
against “Stapled Visa” and discrimina Arunachali citizens
by eing issued “Stapled Visa”
• Connecting with various other North Eastern communities
on different social issues and establish a culture of mutual
help and support for each other.
• Set up a helpdesk for Gorkha students wanting to apply for
various Delhi University colleges for the 2015 session.
Guided multiple students and helped them with their
applications. (June 2015)
• All these initiative with Rs. 0 funding so far and with
voluntary collections from individuals and Humanitarians.
6. Charter of Demands
• Activate and galvanize Gorkhas Bhavan as referral center
of crisis. Besides the existing NE Helpline, work towards
creating a separate helpline specifically to handle issues
from the Gorkha community. Request for an emergency
24×7 helpline at Gorkha Bhavan (even existing reception
office landline can be turned into helpline).
• Demand for appointment of Nodal Officer to liaise with
police related problems.
• Nominate of genuine youth every year from the Gorkha
community in Delhi for Delhi Police representatives who
can represent and intervene in any Gorkha related issues,
irrespective of the regions.
• 2 GYASA members are expected to be selected for Delhi
police for North East Representative for 2015-2016
7. • Demand for a Gorkha Cultural Centre at Delhi,
where government or any organizations can
requisite Gorkha songs and dances for performing
at prestigious cultural events. A healthy cultural
exchange can go a long way in spreading
friendliness and peace among communities.
• Explore the possibility of constructing youth and
working hostels for Gorkha on the lines of YMCA or
North-East working hostels.
• Organize awareness campaign with NGOs on
education, competitive examinations, human
trafficking, legal awareness etc.
8. Introspection and action within our society
• Form a Whatsapp group of Gorkha think-tanks for frequent and
immediate coordination. Successfully accomplished, Robin Hibu
IPS, JCP of Delhi Police created a whatsaap group wherein
NorthEast Nodal Officer has given ADMIN rights to 2 GYASA
members. Now we have 6 Whatsaap Group with 100 members
each including GYASA Gurgaon, GYASA 1, GYASA 2, GYASA
Mumbai & Pune, GYASA FC and most importantly GYASA Think
Tank.
• Organize an annual Gorkha festival where all Indian Gorkhas can
participate. Honor genuine people during such functions.
• Identify bright Gorkha students from poor financial background
with an interest to pursue education. Provide them scholarship
from different fund available either with government/leaders,
philanthropists.
• Encourage/Support/Fund/Guide more students to prepare for
UPSC, Vocational Training, Medical Examination and more.
• Create a directory of Gorkha for Delhi & NCR with detail name,
ranks, occupation, email, organizations, area of experts like
lawyers, doctors, journalists, chef, housekeeping, carpentry and
so on.
9. • Send as many representative to Delhi Police for North East folk to
liaison and coordinate with the police in the wake of any untoward
incident.
• Monthly/Quaterly meeting of youth leaders, student
representatives, NGOs, employee unions, politicians, or other
prominent Gorkha people in NCR. Also regular meetings with
Resident Welfare Association (RWA’s) & many other local bodies in
Delhi to apprise about Gorkhas and to bridge the gap and concerns
• Form an Apex Gorkha civil body by involving Gorkha
representatives by various Gorkha associations in NCR. Try and
involve at least one member from all Gorkha settled states in
India.
• Minutes of every meeting be drawn and complied with
immediately. Such meetings should be open to all irrespective of
the political affiliation. However, only social non-political issues
should be discussed during such meetings.
10. Upcoming Plans for #Gorkhalism
1. All Gorkhas including Politicians, Intellectuals,
Professors, Think Tanks, Students, Civil bodies come
under 1 roof in JNU to discuss about Gorkha
2. Organize an Annual Gorkha Day in Delhi to promote
Gorkha culture, food, folk traditions and literature. The
festival will promote Gorkha culture and art and cultural
interactions with other communities in Delhi.
3. Organising Gorkha Premier Leaque (GPL) in Delhi where
we have upto 15 team Gorkha and non Gorkha teams
expected to participate. Sports binds all human

for the Gorkha community living across the country. We
will promote writings, social issues concerning the
Gorkha, music, movies, and other social issues in the
Indian Gorkha community.

11. GYASA’s Vision
• Build an all-India level apex body of Gorkha civilians to raise concerns to the government/administration and work with the
concerned authorities to address the issues.
• Work in the interest of Gorkhas diaspora spread across India and take up issues concerning the welfare of the community
in all parts of the country.
• Assist and guide students coming to Delhi to pursue their higher education.
• Career counselling and guidance for students and youths seeking for job opportunities in the Delhi.
• Encourage and support student from the community aspiring for civil services/medical/engineer/law studies. Explore
channels to sponsor education for talented candidates from the community and help them achieve their dreams.
• To act as a platform for redressal of grievances facing the community members across all parts of the country.
Counsel/help/guide people on how to seek justice for any problems they have within the framework of the law.
12. GYASA’s Vision
• Create a non-political platform to work for the greater welfare of the community members settles across India and act
as an interface between the law enforcement bodies and the general public to resolve any issues faced by Gorkhas.
• To promote cultural learnings between Gorkhas and other communities in order to maintain a peaceful coexistence and
social harmony. Bridge the communication gap by spreading awareness about Gorkha people and their beautiful culture
by participating and organizing various cultural exchange programs taking place across the country.
• We are not a complaint forum that will act or be perceived as an anti-establishment/anti-government. We are here to
assist in narrowing down the bridge between the government/administration and the public and help the government
understand the cultural intricacies of our community and assist the concerned authorities to understand our concerns.
• Abide by and owe allegiance to the constitution of India and work within the framework of the constitution. Work
towards safeguarding constitutional rights and privileges bestowed to the citizens of the country.
• Most importantly, create awareness about our fundamental duties as citizen of India and encourage people to take part
in various social initiatives environmental and cleaniless projects, rahaagiri, relief works, etc
• To imbibe a culture of responsible and proud citizens among Gorkha youth and students.
