1. rime Minister Narendra
Modi has never hesitated
in experimentin
g with for-
eign policy
. He has always
tried to bring the Heads of
nations, sportspersons
, in-
dustrialists and youth to-
gether while addressing
the needs of each and eve-
ry section of people.
“When we were scheduled
to visit Australia, I had a
talk with him. There were
other people also. Modi
said that both the nations
had diplomatic talks but
tell me what do the people
of Australia like? We told
him that Australians are
crazy about cricket. Then
Modi said that a function
should be organised at the
world’s largest cricket sta-
dium Melbourne where
cricketers like Kapil Dev
and Sunil Gavaskar
should meet the public.
This shows that Modi has
a pulse on the liking of
public whether it’s our
own country or abroad,”
said G Parthasarthy,
a dip-
lomat and author.
Modi didn’t restrict di-
plomacy to mere few for-
mal and informal dia-
logues between 2 coun-
tries. He increased the
number of meetings and
expanded the scope of dia-
logues during his visits.
“Earlier there used to be a
maximum of 5-6 meetings.
Now 10-12-15 meetings in a
day are scheduled. It’s like
playing test match at the
pace of 20-20. It was not a
one-day affair, it was una-
bated. I am surprised we
would travel 5 countries in
6 days spending nights in
flights, because even Modi
used to do it,” union exter-
nal affairs minister S Jais-
hankar had said.
With great acumen of
foreign affairs, Modi was
fast emerging as a strong
global leader. But people
were surprised as to how a
person who had not been
even a union minister be-
fore becoming Prime Min-
ister could deftly handle
the international
affairs.
“He once told me that he
had been to US. He had
travelled in buses and
went around places. He
has real life experience.
Now if we add his real
life experience with in-
novative thinking, we
can easily understand
his foreign policy,” Jais-
hankar had said.
The aim of Modi’s
whirlwind foreign trips
was not only to elevate
the position of the na-
tion on diplomatic plat-
forms but also to instil
confidence among the
Indian diaspora. Modi
used the rich Indian tradi-
tions and culture to win
the respect for Indian dias-
pora on foreign soil. This
was part of his diplomacy
to use national symbols
and Hindi as language for
communicati
on at global
platform. This practice
won back the glory for In-
dia. Modi as a Prime Min-
ister started speaking in
Hindi at the global plat-
form of the United Nation.
He proposed before the
world to celebrate June 21
as the Yoga Divas.
“Yoga is our ancient tra-
dition and priceless treas-
ure. Let’s work towards
celebrating International
Yoga Day to promote this
invaluable custom,” Modi
had said. The entire world
endorsed his idea of Yoga
in record time and June 21
was accepted as the Inter-
national Yoga Day
.
“World wants to know
about India. The world un-
derstands that we have a
personality…
we have a
culture … a tradition…a
civilisation…
if the Prime
Minister of India doesn’t
express the richness of the
country at this grand plat-
form, then it has no mean-
ing,” Jaishankar had said.
Prime Minister Modi
knows the art of convert-
ing crisis into opportunity
.
He got this opportunity
during the Covid pandem-
ic, which devastated the
entire globe. Modi put
across the mantra of Vas-
udhaiva Kutumbakam
strongly before the global
community…
whether it
was supplying medicines
to various countries or vac-
cines or ventilators… Modi
opened the doors for all the
countries in need. Under
the Vaccine Maitri Mis-
sion, India supplied vac-
cines to several countries.
“The number of vac-
cines we use everyday is
much more than total vac-
cines put together in sev-
eral countries… in such
situation, the position of
India has changed. People
get surprised by knowing
that we have helped 80-90
countries in the world…
either we sent Medicines,
PPE kits, relief materials
or vaccines,” Baijayant
Jay Panda, Vice President
of BJP had said.
When the entire world
was passing through the
devastating pandemic era,
China was busy propagat-
ing its expansionist
agen-
da. Right from infiltrating
areas of neighbouring
countries to showing ag-
gressive tantrums to coun-
tries like Australia, Japan
and India, China was
proving dangerous to the
entire global community.
Amid the challenges put
up by Covid pandemic, In-
dia entered a quadrilater-
al diplomatic agreement
with America, Australia
and Japan. This four-na-
tion strategic security dia-
logue is known as QUAD.
China is upset with this
development but this four-
nation treaty is not a front
against China. This is a
partnership
to bring all
the four nations together
on the highway of devel-
opment.
Modi has continuously
been making the nation
stronger from within, now
has attained a global stat-
ure. “Neither I am going to
stop nor I will get tired.
And I will never bow down
before the falsehoods,”
Modi declared.

Sharma and cornered
the state govt. Union

gh Shekhawat, former
CM Vasundhara Raje,
Gulab Chand Kataria,
Rajendra Rathore and
others termed the inci-
dent as a stigma on the

Shekhawatsaid,“Spe-

it murder. Indirectly
this murder has been
done by those people
who misused power and
creating a difficult situ-
ation.” Raje said, “Fear

ana to commit suicide.
Deeply hurt by the inci-
dent. Dr. Archana, did
not care for her life and
saved the lives of people

Kataria said there are

This is a sad incident. In
this, a case of murder cannot
be registered. She was treat-

in this. I will also go to the
spot and meet family mem-
bers.

The State Women’s Commission took cog-
nizance of Dr. Archana’s suicide and gave
a notice to the DGP and sought the report in
a week. “The incident of suicide by a female
doctor is very serious and sad. The commission
has instructed to conduct an impartial high-level
inquiry into the matter,” said Rehana Riyaz, com-
mission chairperson. CM Gehlot condemned the
incident and said an inquiry is going on. Dausa
police has already registered a case for abetment
to suicide against a man named Baliya Joshi.
Ashok Gehlot@ashokgehlot51
The suicide incident of Dr Archana Sharma is deeply sad-
dening. We consider doctors as gods. To save the life of
patients, every doctor tries their best, but in case
of any mishappening, it is not justified to blame
the doctors. If the doctors are threatened like
this, how will they perform their duty confi-
dently? We must think, how can the doctors
who served the country during the Covid-19
pandemic be treated this way. This entire
matter is being investigated thoroughly and
the accused will not be spared.

4. rime Minister Narendra
Modi has never hesitated
in experimenting with for-
eign policy
. He has always
tried to bring the Heads of
nations, sportspersons, in-
dustrialists and youth to-
gether while addressing
the needs of each and eve-
ry section of people.
“When we were scheduled
to visit Australia, I had a
talk with him. There were
other people also. Modi
said that both the nations
had diplomatic talks but
tell me what do the people
of Australia like? We told
him that Australians are
crazy about cricket. Then
Modi said that a function
should be organised at the
world’s largest cricket sta-
dium Melbourne where
cricketers like Kapil Dev
and Sunil Gavaskar
should meet the public.
This shows that Modi has
a pulse on the liking of
public whether it’s our
own country or abroad,”
said G Parthasarthy, a dip-
lomat and author.
Modi didn’t restrict di-
plomacy to mere few for-
mal and informal dia-
logues between 2 coun-
tries. He increased the
number of meetings and
expanded the scope of dia-
logues during his visits.
“Earlier there used to be a
maximum of 5-6 meetings.
Now 10-12-15 meetings in a
day are scheduled. It’s like
playing test match at the
pace of 20-20. It was not a
one-day affair, it was una-
bated. I am surprised we
would travel 5 countries in
6 days spending nights in
flights, because even Modi
used to do it,” union exter-
nal affairs minister S Jais-
hankar had said.
With great acumen of
foreign affairs, Modi was
fast emerging as a strong
global leader. But people
were surprised as to how a
person who had not been
even a union minister be-
fore becoming Prime Min-
ister could deftly handle
the international affairs.
“He once told me that he
had been to US. He had
travelled in buses and
went around places. He
has real life experience.
Now if we add his real
life experience with in-
novative thinking, we
can easily understand
his foreign policy,” Jais-
hankar had said.
The aim of Modi’s
whirlwind foreign trips
was not only to elevate
the position of the na-
tion on diplomatic plat-
forms but also to instil
confidence among the
Indian diaspora. Modi
used the rich Indian tradi-
tions and culture to win
the respect for Indian dias-
pora on foreign soil. This
was part of his diplomacy
to use national symbols
and Hindi as language for
communication at global
platform. This practice
won back the glory for In-
dia. Modi as a Prime Min-
ister started speaking in
Hindi at the global plat-
form of the United Nation.
He proposed before the
world to celebrate June 21
as the Yoga Divas.
“Yoga is our ancient tra-
dition and priceless treas-
ure. Let’s work towards
celebrating International
Yoga Day to promote this
invaluable custom,” Modi
had said. The entire world
endorsed his idea of Yoga
in record time and June 21
was accepted as the Inter-
national Yoga Day
.
“World wants to know
about India. The world un-
derstands that we have a
personality… we have a
culture … a tradition…a
civilisation…if the Prime
Minister of India doesn’t
express the richness of the
country at this grand plat-
form, then it has no mean-
ing,” Jaishankar had said.
Prime Minister Modi
knows the art of convert-
ing crisis into opportunity
.
He got this opportunity
during the Covid pandem-
ic, which devastated the
entire globe. Modi put
across the mantra of Vas-
udhaiva Kutumbakam
strongly before the global
community…whether it
was supplying medicines
to various countries or vac-
cines or ventilators… Modi
opened the doors for all the
countries in need. Under
the Vaccine Maitri Mis-
sion, India supplied vac-
cines to several countries.
“The number of vac-
cines we use everyday is
much more than total vac-
cines put together in sev-
eral countries… in such
situation, the position of
India has changed. People
get surprised by knowing
that we have helped 80-90
countries in the world…
either we sent Medicines,
PPE kits, relief materials
or vaccines,” Baijayant
Jay Panda, Vice President
of BJP had said.
When the entire world
was passing through the
devastating pandemic era,
China was busy propagat-
ing its expansionist agen-
da. Right from infiltrating
areas of neighbouring
countries to showing ag-
gressive tantrums to coun-
tries like Australia, Japan
and India, China was
proving dangerous to the
entire global community.
Amid the challenges put
up by Covid pandemic, In-
dia entered a quadrilater-
al diplomatic agreement
with America, Australia
and Japan. This four-na-
tion strategic security dia-
logue is known as QUAD.
China is upset with this
development but this four-
nation treaty is not a front
against China. This is a
partnership to bring all
the four nations together
on the highway of devel-
opment.
Modi has continuously
been making the nation
stronger from within, now
has attained a global stat-
ure. “Neither I am going to
stop nor I will get tired.
And I will never bow down
before the falsehoods,”
Modi declared.

KARNATAKA HIJAB BAN
40 muslim girl students skip
exams at Udupi govt colleges
Udupi (PTI): 40 Mus-
lim girl students from
the Udupi district of
Karnataka abstained
from appearing for the
first pre-university ex-
amination as they were
apparently hurt by the
recent High Court ver-
dict against the wear-
ing of hijab inside
classrooms.
The students decided
to not appear for the ex-
aminationwithoutwear-
ingtheheadscarf asthey
were hurt by the March
15 order, sources said.
The Karnataka High
Court on March 15 had
dismissed petitions
seeking permission to
wear hijab inside the
classroom, saying the
headscarf is not a part
of the essential reli-
gious practice in the Is-
lamic faith and that the
uniform dress rule
should be followed in
educational institu-
tions where it has been
prescribed.
Those who shunned
the examinations on
Tuesday include 24 girl
students from Kun-
dapur, 14 from Byndoor
and two from Udupi
Government Girls PU
college, who are in-
volved in the legal fight
over the wearing of hi-
jab in classrooms. The
girls had earlier boy-
cotted the practical ex-
aminations also.
At the RN Shetty PU
college, 13 out of 28
Muslim girl students
appeared for the exami-
nation. Though some
students reached the
examination centre
wearing hijabs, they
were denied permis-
sion.
Four out of five girl
students appeared for
the examinations at
Bhandarkar’s college in
Udupi, while all the girl
students of Basrur
Sharada college attend-
ed the examinations.
Six of the eight girl
students of Navunda
Government PU Col-
lege abstained from the
examinations, while
only two out of 10 Mus-
lim girls appeared for
the examinations.
Some private colleges
in the district allowed
students wearing hijab
to attend the examina-
tions, sources said.
7 SUSPENDED FOR
ALLOWING HIJAB

Bengaluru: The Karna-
taka Education Depart-
ment has suspended
7 teachers including
2 superintendents for
allowing hijab clad stu-
dents to take SSLC (class
10) exams in Gadag
district. The department
has also ordered an
inquiry on the suspended
persons. These teachers
and superintendents
allowed hijab clad girls to
write exams on Monday
at the C.S. Patil Examina-
tion Centre in Gadag.
Meanwhile, Sriram
Sene Kalaburagi District
President, Ninganna
Gouda Patil has lodged
a complaint with the
Block Education Officer
of Kalaburagi demanding
the suspension of Mo-
hammad Ali, the teacher
of Ijeri Urdu School in

a student to write exams

complaint he has warned
that if action is not taken,
protest will be staged.
Birbhum killings: BJP team
claims ‘mafia rule’ in Bengal
New Delhi (PTI): A
BJPfact-findingteamon
Wednesday submitted
its report to party chief
JP Nadda on the recent
massacre of nine people
in West Bengal’s Birb-
hum, claiming “mafia
rule” prevailed in the
state with the conniv-
ance of police and politi-
cal leadership, provok-
ing sharp reaction from
Chief Minister Mamata
Banerjee, who said the
report will “weaken and
interfere” with the CBI
probe in the case.
The BJP team, in-
cluding four former IPS
officers, demanded cen-
tral intervention for
restoration of the “col-
lapsed” law and order
situation in the state.
The party had consti-
tuted a five-member
team in the aftermath
of the violence in Bog-
tui village in Birbhum
district, where eight
people were burnt alive,
while one more suc-
cumbed to the injuries
a week later, after a mob
set some houses ablaze
allegedly in retaliation
for the killing of a rul-
ing TMC leader Bhadu
Sheikh on March 21.
The panel comprised
Rajya Sabha MP and
former Uttar Pradesh
police chief Brajlal,
Lok Sabha MP and for-
mer Mumbai police
commissioner Satyapal
Singh, Rajya Sabha MP
and former IPS officer
KC Ramamurthy, a na-
tional spokesperson for
the party, former West
Bengal cadre IPS officer
Bharati Ghosh and
state BJP chief Sukanta
Majumdar.
The law and order
machinery has totally
collapsed in West Ben-
gal under the TMC rule
and there is a rule of
the mafia in the state
that’s run with the con-
nivance of police and
the political leadership,
the report said.
Claiming that “state-
sponsored extortion,
goonda tax, cut-money
and tolabazi (organised
extortion)” were the
main reasons behind
the violence, the report
said the Centre should
intervene and direct of-
ficials of the All India
Services like the IPS
and the IAS to follow
the rule of law.

Can’t give relaxation in attempts

New Delhi (Agen-

opposed a plea before
the Supreme Court
seeking extra attempts
for candidates, who
could not take the Civil
Services (Main) exam
held in January this
year, due to Covid-19.
In a counter affidavit,
the Department of Per-

(DoPT) said: “The mat-
ter has been considered
and it has not been
found feasible to change
the existing provisions
regarding number of
attempts and age-limit
in respect of CSE (Civil
Services exam).
“That it is also sub-
mitted that any relaxa-
tion to age-limit and
number of permissible
attempts due to Cov-
id-19 pandemic could
lead to similar de-
mands being made by
the other categories of
candidates.”
The DoPT added
that it will also im-
pinge on the chances
of other candidates
who are eligible as per
existing provisions be-
cause it will increase
the number of candi-
dates competing with
such candidates.

Bihar BJP MLA demands

Patna (Agencies): Af-

Vikassheel Insaan Par-
ty (VIP), BJP leaders
are now directly target-
ing Bihar Chief Minis-
ter Nitish Kumar.
Vinay Bihari, a BJP

Kumar lost his fire that
hewasknownfor,during
the first tenure in 2005.
“I firmly believe that

,” he said.
“People of the states
are talking about the
Yogi model as inci-
dents of crime are ris-
ing in Bihar every day.
We are living in Bihar,
so we advocate for Nit-
ish Model here. But we
do not want the present
Nitish model, but we
want Nitish Kumar as
we knew him in 2005.

Use of Gujarat model of ministerial appointment in UP?
Mahesh Sharma
New Delhi: This is not
entirely an experiment
of the Gujarat model
but a glimpse of it is
visible in Uttar Pradesh
as when the BJP formed
the government for the
second time in Uttar
Pradesh, half of the
new ministers were ap-
pointed immediately.
Some ministers did not
contest and some lost,
while 20 of the remain-
ing ministers were not
given a chance this
time. In this way, out of
52 ministers, half are
such ministers, who
were not in the previous
government. In this
way, even after Yogi be-
came the Chief Minis-
ter, the BJP was suc-
cessful in getting the
message of being a new
government. BJP’s for-
mula of removing old
ministers and appoint-
ing new ministers is
old, but the surprise is
about those names,
who, it was claimed,
were sure shot of a min-
isterial berth. For ex-
ample Shrikant Shar-
ma, Siddharth Nath
Singh and Neelkanth
Tiwari.
These three were
ministers and all three
represent Mathura,
Prayag and Varanasi
respectively. Shrikant
Sharma and Siddharth
Nath Singh have lived
in Delhi and were the
national media in-
charge and national
spokesperson. These
two were also the most
popular face of the Yogi
government, but both
got ‘discharged’. That is
why it is being said that
in Modi-Shah’s BJP
, it is
not right for the leaders
to come in much discus-
sion. However, it is also
being said that some
names have also been
cut to balance the list of
the central leadership
of the party and the list
of Chief Minister Yogi
Adityanath. For exam-
ple, the name of Mahen-
dra Singh and Jai
Pratap Singh, consid-
ered very close to the
Chief Minister, has
been striked off. Some
ministers were re-
moved to strike a bal-
ance, some were left out
because of allegations
against them, while
some were left out be-
cause of reports of poor
performance.
UP CM Yogi Adityanath, Dy CM Maurya and other BJP leaders.
‘Charity begins at home’
The dynasty politics
of BJP’s allies in UP!
Sharat K Verma
New Delhi: BJP targets
political dynasty and
calls it a threat to de-
mocracy, but in Yogi
Adityanath’s govern-
ment, many dynastic
faces have been includ-
ed. Even among the
BJP’s own ministers,
many ministers are
from political families
like from Jitin Prasad
to Sandeep Singh. But
both the allies of BJP,
have not looked past the
family for a share in the
power pie. BJP ally
Apna Dal leader Ashish
Patel was made a minis-
ter in the state govern-
ment. He is the husband
of Union Minister Anu-
priya Patel, which
means that the wife is at
the center and the hus-
band is a minister in
the state government.
It should be noted that
Pallavi Patel, sister of
Anupriya Patel, contest-
ed in the Samajwadi
Party alliance and de-
feated BJP veteran and
Deputy Chief Minister
Keshav Prasad Maurya
from Sirathu assembly
seat. However, another
ally of the BJP is the Ni-
shad Party
, whose leader
Sanjay Nishad has been
made a minister. Sanjay
Nishad’ssonPraveenNi-
shad is a Lok Sabha MP
and for a long time both
fatherandsonhavebeen
making all attempts to
get Praveen Nishad in-
cluded in the Modi gov-
ernment as a minister.
For now, Sanjay Nishad
has become a minister,
but it will not be surpris-
ing if Praveen Nishad
also gets a chance in
Delhi till the next Lok
Sabha elections.
UP CM with Amit Shah, JP Nadda and Anupriya Patel.
What happened to Aparna and Aditi’s
inclusion in Adityanath government?
Moni Sharma
New Delhi: It is rightly
said that in today’s BJP
,
if some leader comes
into lime light or if they
are discussed to a great-
er extent by the media,
then their name may be
struck off from the po-
litical rolls for ever! Ear-
lier, if there was talk of
a BJP leader becoming a
minister or getting a
ticket or getting any oth-
er post, then the discus-
sions usually turned out
to be correct. But if
there is a discussion
thesedays,thenitissure
tobeprovedwrong.Like
this time, for the forma-
tion of Uttar Pradesh
government, the oath of
the government was
stalled for 15 days and in
the meantime dozens of
names were kept in the
running by the media,
but in the end, all the
names were dropped.
Therewastalkof mak-
ing Mulayam Singh’s
daughter-in-law Aparna
Yadav a minister. Simi-
larly
, the name of Aditi
Singh, who left the Con-
gress and joined the BJP
,
was also in the news. But
neither of them got a
chance. There are 10 per-
centiefivewomenminis-
ters in the government
with 52 ministers, but
both of them were left
out.Similarly
,Rajeshwar
Singh, a high profile of-
ficer in the ED, was also
believed to be appointed
as a minister. But he also
got a chance to sit in the
audienceattheswearing-
in ceremony
. Although
about 10 ministerial
posts have been kept va-
cant, but there will be no
reshuffle in the govern-
ment for the next several
months. Those who are
leftoutwillhavetowaita
long time for a crack at
the ministerial berth!

Patna (Agencies): In
an embarrassment for
Bihar Chief Minister
Nitish Kumar, who has
been at the state’s top
job for close to 15 years
at a stretch now, a new
report has revealed that
the state was woefully
unprepared for the Cov-

manceauditonthefunc-
tioning of district hospi-
tals in Bihar has re-
vealed that just as the
Covid pandemic hit the
country, there was a 52
to 92 per cent shortfall
of beds in district hospi-
tals and a persistent
shortage of doctors,
nurses, paramedical
staff, and technicians.
The bed strength was
not raised in 10 years
and the department did
not publish the total
staff vacancies to get
them filled from 2014 to
2020, the report said.

trictHospitals’sampling
five districts - Biharsha-
rif, Hajipur, Jehanabad,
Madhepura, and Patna -
for the period 2014-15 to
2019-20. It aimed to as-
sess the overall health
services being provided
by district hospitals.
On Out-Patient ser-
vices, the report found
thatthehospitalsdidnot
provide 12 to 15 signifi-
cant OPD curative ser-
vices like cardiology
,
gastroenterology
, neph-
rology
, ENT etc. due to a
shortage of specialist
doctors and infrastruc-
tures such as building,
equipment and furni-
ture.The patient load on
registration counters
went as high as 208 per
cent higher than nor-
mal. Further, 59 per cent
of OPD patients bought
medicines out of their
own pocket, defeating
the goal of providing
free medication, it add-
ed. The facility for diag-
nosis and management
of cases of cardiovascu-
lar disease, stroke and
cancer was not availa-
ble in any of the district
hospitals.
Accident/Trauma
and Psychiatry wards
were also not found in
any of the checked hos-
pitals. Positive/negative
isolation wards for in-
fectious patients were
also not found. This
finding is especially
concerning as it shows
the state’s health infra-
structure was ill-pre-
pared for the pandemic.
