A 3 lakh strong crowd witnesses Kshatriya Yuvak Sangh’s ‘Diamond Jubilee’ function at Sri Bhawani
Niketan Shiksha Samiti’s grounds, while an almost equal number of people failed to reach the rally
owing to traffic jam in the city and had to be confined to the outskirts of Jaipur!

t is not everyday that
one gets to witness a
gargantuan gathering
of people aimed at one
particular idea. Even
the seemingly all powerful po-
litical parties’ claim of a ‘suc-
cessful’ gatherings, that is mo-
tivated by political leaning,
fails to amass the sheer number
of people that congregated in
Jaipur on Wednesday to attend
the clarion call given by the
Kshatriya Yuvak Sangh, an
organisation of Rajput
community, to celebrate
its 75th year in service of
the nation. Even if the
conservative estimates
of the sources in state
administration and
Jaipur police are
taken into account,
a gathering of over
three lakh people
reached the large
swathes of Bha-
wani Niketan
Shikshan Sansthan in the heart
of Jaipur. In fact the sheer num-
ber of saffron ‘safa’ (turbans)
had lent its color to the sur-
roundings. Furthermore, the
administrative realm of the
state capital were also abuzz
with the word that almost the
same number of people that
reached the venue spot, could
not reach on time and were
stuck on the outskirts of Jaipur.
However, the sheer number
of people wasn’t the biggest
highlight of the day
. Rather, the
fact that not just Rajputs, but
members of all communities
attended the function on
Kshatriya Yuvak Sangh’s (KYS)
call lent further support to the
event. Apart from Rajput lead-
ers, businessmen and common
people from the community
were present in huge numbers
from all across India. The other
communities were represented
by politicians such as Satish
Poonia, Mahesh Joshi, Ghan-
shyam Tiwari, Ramesh Aggar-
wal, Chandrashekhar, Ram-
charan Bohra, Sukhram Vish-
noi, Abhinesh Maharishi and
Alka Gurjar to name a few.
CM Ashok Gehlot and the
former CM Vasundhara Raje
were also keeping a keen watch
and monitoring all develop-
ments of this ‘maha-rally’ dur-
ing the day. Dharmendra
Rathore, popularly known as
‘Hanuman’ (trouble shooter) of
Gehlot, was at the centre-stage
of the rally along with BJP’s
chief ministerial contend-
er and Union minis-
ter Gajendra Singh
Shekhawat, who
delivered a
p o w e r f u l
speech from
the dais.

DIVORCES COME
AT A HEAVY
COST FOR THE
WORLD’S RICH
AND FAMOUS
ivorce doesn’t come
cheap. When Jeff
Bezos divorced his
wife MacKenzie
Scott she was left
with $ 35.6 billion (2.42 lakh
crore) in Amazon stocks. Her
personal net worth zoomed to
$60 billion, making her one of
the richest persons on earth.
Ms. Scott pledged to philan-
thropy. It was the first such ex-
pensive divorce in the world. In
the recent divorce making
headlines is the one between
Princess Haya bint al-Hussein
and Dubai’s ruler Sheikh Mo-
hammed bin Rashid al-Mak-
toum the ruler of Dubai. The
High Court in London has or-
dered the ruler of Dubai to pay
554 million pounds (Rs. 5500
crores) to Princess Haya for her
security for herself and her
two children. The final sum
may be the “largest public
award ever ordered by an Eng-
lish family court”.
Reasons for the two divorces
may be different but high profile
divorces come at a heavy cost.
BarringBollywood,therehaven’t
been such high-profile divorces.
D
he Election Laws
( A m e n d m e n t )
Bill linking voter
rolls to Aadhaar
has been passed
by Parliament amid objec-
tions from opposition par-
ties. The government has
defended the move with the
argument that it will avoid
multiple registrations of the
same voter at different plac-
es. Once the Aadhaar is
linked to a voter I-card, the
system will be alerted when
a person applies for registra-
tion as a voter elsewhere, ar-
gues the government. This
will also remove multiple
registrations and purge the
electoral rolls. Law Minister
Kiren Rijiju said in Parlia-
ment that linking voter I-
cards with Aadhaar was not
mandatory. In that case how
far this exercise will be effec-
tive is uncertain.
On the face of it, the move
makes sense as every time a
person moves residence
changes have to be made to
the voter ID card and the
electoral roll in accordance
with the individual’s new ad-
dress without ascertaining
if his/her name has been de-
leted from electoral rolls of
his previous residence. Op-
position’s one strong argu-
ment is that Aadhaar doesn’t
reflect citizenship and link-
ing it with voter ID will give
non-citizens a chance to vote,
besides violating the law on
secret ballot.
Trinamool Congress’
Derek O’Brien, who became
the 13th Opposition MP to
have been suspended from
the House, said on Twitter,
“The last time I got sus-
pended from Rajya Sabha
was when Govt. was BULL-
DOZING #FarmLaws. We
all know what happened af-
ter that…”
The biggest fear is among
the privacy advocates who
are reported to have said that
the linkage is “dangerous”
for democracy as it can lead
to profiling of voters.

T
TAO OF SCIENTIFIC
POSITIVITY
When Einstein’s theory of
relativity unseated the old
Newtonian model, it led to a
change of situation among
philosophers. It also stirred
several great minds and
scientists to understand a
huge fundamental fact —
that the essentialities of
scientific understanding
were not a fixed, inflexible
set of natural laws
espite our ‘clash’ with the
times, also convention, there
has been a huge transforma-
tion of position in our minds
— from the old to the new.
This has been engineered by
our progress in science. Put
simply, science’s success in
explainingandpredictingour
natural world has now come
to stay
, be it the East or West.
Here’swhy:RenéDescartes,
the French philosopher, origi-
nally thought he’d found a
rational basis for science,
based on his arguments for
his own existence and the re-
ality of god. Sir Isaac New-
ton’s advances in physics,
likewise, founded on induc-
tive logic were, at one time,
justasremarkablysignificant
to enlightenment philoso-
phers. What’s more the Ger-
man philosopher Immanuel
Kant thought of Newton’s
laws as true to pure reason.
This explains why the great
man also initiated a dualistic
view of our universe on the
lines of his predecessor, the
Indian philosopher, Sri Mad-
hvacárya.Thathumanbeings
live in a world of rationality,
autonomy and morality —
even as our materialistic uni-
verse gets quantified in terms
of cause and effect.
AugusteComte,theFrench
philosopher, pushed the
whole idea vigorously
. He be-
lieved that human thought
developed from the mythical,
spiritual and metaphysical
planes, characterised by the
orderly assortment of expe-
riential facts. He suggested
that such ‘Positivist’ meth-
ods, as they are called, lead
to the study of our social or-
der and also culture. He
strongly argued that our
knowledge of facts could be
explained better by using
methods similar to the natu-
ral sciences. Sir Karl Popper,
the Austrian-British philoso-
pher, academic and social
commentator, however,
emerged a strong critic of
inductive judgment. All in-
ductive evidence, he said,
was restricted, because we
do not view the universe at
all times and in all places.
“We are, not justified, there-
fore, in making a general
rule from this observation of
particulars.” Popper did not
also fancy the empiricist
idea that one employs to in-
dependently examine our
world. He, therefore, offered
an ‘alternative’ — the scien-
tific mode of falsification.
Thomas Kuhn, the Ameri-
can philosopher of science,
was no less critical of the
straightforward picture that
philosophers used to ‘light-
en-up’ science. He looked at
the saga of science and ar-
gued that science does not
just progress by stages, based
upon impartial observations.
Scientists, he said, have a
worldview, or ‘hypothesis.’
He suggested that the epito-
me of Newton’s mechanical
universe was unlike the
quintessence of Albert Ein-
stein’s relativistic universe
— each model being a whole-
some scrutiny of the world,
rather than just objective ex-
planation.
Kuhn further thought that
the history of science was af-
fected by revolutions in sci-
entific points-of-view. Scien-
tists, he said, acknowledged
the prevailing view until
flaws surface. They would,
thereafter, he noted, embark
in probing at the foundation
of the benchmark itself, fol-
lowing which new theories
emerge to confront the funda-
mental theory. Eventually,
one of the new theories be-
comes accepted as a fresh ap-
plication. This, in other
words, means the superiority
of our modern scientific
method cannot be implied.
Why? Because, for any revo-
lutionary scientific knowl-
edge to advance, we cannot
predict what shape future
knowledge would take. This
also signifies the fact that we
should not close, or isolate,
ourselves with just one
shared, or accepted, method
of acquiring knowledge.
As Stephen Hawking, the
most recent, also eminent
campaigner of positivism,
put it, “Any sound scientific
theory
, whether of time, or of
any other concept, should in
my opinion be based on the
most workable philosophy of
science: the positivist ap-
proach put forward by Pop-
per and others. According to
this way of thinking, a scien-
tific theory is a mathematical
model that describes and
codifies the observations we
make. A good theory will de-
scribe a large range of phe-
nomena on the basis of a few
simple postulates and will
make definite predictions
that can be tested.”
When Einstein’s theory of
relativity unseated the old
Newtonian model, it led to a
change of situation among
philosophers. It also stirred
several great minds and sci-
entists to understand a huge
fundamental fact — that the
essentialities of scientific un-
derstanding were not a fixed,
inflexible set of natural laws.
Rather, they were models, or
interpretations, of phenom-
ena — just as dependent on
the community as the nature
of reality, as we all know it.
Placed in context, scientific
explanation today may no
longer be looked upon as ob-
jective and absolute. Why?
Because, at the borders of sci-
ence, there are any number
of new prototypes that are
continually emerging to ‘test’
present standards. The impli-
cation — they will all only
expand for our good. Or, for
the better — whichever way
you look at it.

Jaipur: Chief Minister
Ashok Gehlot has said
that it is necessary to

reason, the members

many such things keep
going on in the market.
It is not a matter of to-

hood. It is necessary to
remove misconceptions
so that the credibility
of the RPSC remains
intact,” Gehlot said on
the occasion of 73rd
Raising Day of RPSC
through VC.
“RPSC should release
the calendar of recruit-
ment every year. Like
the Union Public Ser-
vice Commission
(UPSC), people should
know which exam will
be held at what time.
The calendar should
not be issued only once,
it should be issued reg-
ularly every year. If the
calendar of recruit-
ment is released every
year, then a different
message will be sent to
the masses. It just takes
months to get recruited.

Jaipur: Did Chief
Minister Ashok Gehlot
bowl a ‘Googly’ in a
meeting of top bureau-
crats of the state?
Could there be more
‘developments’ to the
‘belief ’ that Subodh
Agrawal will be the
‘Arabic Horse’ in the
run up to the post of
Chief Secretary? While
the answer to this ques-
tion will be known only
when the next Chief
Secretary is appointed
after incumbent CS
Niranjan Arya retires,
Gehlot’s ‘googly’ has
now become the ‘talk
of the town’.
Three days ago, Ge-
hlot bowled the googly
when he termed Sub-
odh Aggarwal an an
‘Arabic horse’. Seeing
his good work in De-
partment of Mines, Ge-
hlot had termed him
Arabic Horse and soon
thereafter, the discus-
sion started that Sub-
odh will become the
next Chief Secretary.
However, now in-
formed sources have
disclosed that senior
IAS officer Usha Shar-
ma is still not out of
the race. “She still has
at least 50% chance of
becoming the Chief
Secretary of Rajasthan
as she is the senior
most officer. However,
the ‘CP factor’ is an in-
explicable puzzle in
this matter. But in spite
of this, the ‘CP Factor’
can become either an
ASSET or a LIABILI-
TY. But knowing CP, he
will never recommend
his relative Usha to Ge-
hlot. But it is not
known if Gehlot may
appoint Usha as CS. If
this really happens,
then this will be a ma-
jor incident in the rela-
tionship of Gehlot and
CP,” sources in the
state bureaucracy
claimed.
Meanwhile, on De-
cember 20, Usha Shar-
ma came from Delhi to
Jaipur and took part in
the screening commit-
tee meeting for promo-
tion of Abhay Kumar
and Rajat Kumar
Mishra to the rank of
ACS and although she
only came for 5 min-
utes to Niranjan Arya’s
office, but she was full
of enthusiasm and
high morale.
Now questions are
being raised as to if
Usha came to her ‘next
office’ to inspect it?
On the other hand
even PK Goyal has not
given up his hopes in
this ‘environment’ be-

But the rally was also a
hint at the rise of an-
other political power in
Jaipur on the pattern of
RSS. The KYS, estab-
lished on lines parallel
to RSS (a grassroots or-
ganisation), has also
gained the same politi-
cal status as enjoyed by
RSS and this became
evident on Wednesday.
As a result, now every
political party of Ra-
jasthan will look to-
wards Rajput society
and thus in view of 2023
elections everyone
would like to ‘hijack’
this platform. It would
therefore be interesting
to see who beats whom
in this race?
Major political faces
of the state, right from
Gajendra Singh Shek-
hawat to Dharmendra
Rathore, from Satish
Poonia to Mahesh
Joshi, from Pratap Sin-
gh Khachariyawas to
Ghanshyam Tiwari are
included in this race
and several others
would want to have a
‘share of the pie’.
Moreover, political
observers believe that
as a result of the event,
that has resonated with
the power of Rajput
community, many peo-
ple and parties will
have to change their
electoral strategy due
to the historical crowd
gathered at the event.
Never in the past two
decades did Jaipur wit-
ness such a huge gath-
ering wherein women
also participated in
huge numbers and by
an estimate over 30,000
women had assembled
on the spot. Flowers
were showered through
helicopter on the gath-
ering, which was ad-
dressed by powerful
‘satraps’ like Gajendra
Singh Shekhawat,
Pratap Singh Khachari-
yawas, Rajendra
Rathore and Dharmen-
dra Rathore, Diya Ku-
mari, Bhanwar S Bhati,
Deputy LoP Rajendra
Rathore all in presence
of Patron of KYS, Bhag-
wan Singh Rolsahabsar.
Interestingly, there
was one more special
thing about this whole
ceremony as apart from
RSS, leaders of other
societies and all politi-
cal parties also took
part in the event. A po-
litical observer com-
mented on this whole
incident and said, “Ra-
jputs have a direct im-
pact on 35 to 40 Assem-
bly seats of Rajasthan
and Rajput vote bank is
also in deciding role in
almost all seats of
Jaipur district. In such
a situation, the leader
of any party or society
could not take the risk
of not attending the cer-
emony
.”
But perhaps the most
notable was the fact that
eventhoughsuchpower-
ful individuals, from
varyingideologies,gath-
ered at one spot but the
‘decorum’ of the KYS
remained intact. Unlike
other programmes, poli-
ticians were not given
the centre-stage and
only people associated
with the KYS were pre-
sent on the main stage
while politicians and
other Rajput satraps
found place on both
theseplatforms.Kshatri-
ya Yuvak Sangh has its
own distinct identity re-
garding etiquette and
proper conduct.

The severe winter in Rajasthan in the last few

When the complaint of damage reached Chief

This Girdawari will be done in districts of
Rajasthan like Churu, Hanumangarh, Sikar,

The recruitment of

many years earlier.
This kind of situation
should not occur. We
will change the rules
and regulations if need-
ed, but the recruitment
should be done on a
regular basis,” he said.
Gehlot said that the
prestigeof RPSCshould
increase in Rajasthan.
“The government is
constantly trying to en-
sure that there is no
litigation in the recruit-
ments. The MP Ku-
mawat Committee had
prepared a report re-
garding this. The Per-
sonnel Department is
making efforts to imple-
ment the committee’s
report. Moreover, confi-
dentiality is very im-
portant in RPSC. It is
necessary to maintain
the confidence of the
general public. There is
no credibility of re-
cruitment institutions
in many states. RPSC
has maintained its rep-
utation since its incep-
tion, in which the presi-
dents of RPSC have

tion,” Gehlot said.
Meanwhile, Gehlot

Jhootha
hi sahi...
This Throwback Thursday we bring you Johny
Mera Naam- the quintessential brothers
separated film starring Dev Anand and Hema
Malini with Pran and Premnath -a must watch
with lots of twists and turns and offshoot
stories which keep us on tenterhooks!
ohny Mera
Naam (in
the tradition
of abbrevia-
tions I will
now call it
JMN) is
more than just a Dev
and Hema flick,
where both of them
also have layers to
their roles with Dev
as a police officer
playing undercover
(with a separated
brother angle) and
Hema as the aban-
doned daughter.
JMN is super fun
with Pran as the vil-
lain with scruples
who turns a leaf as
the family connec-
tion comes out,
Premnath as the dec-
adent and scheming
‘manor of the villa’
with a ‘good’ brother
hidden away in the
cellar (where else?),
who is actually He-
ma’s dad and Suloch-
na as the highly alert
mother, a true police
officer’s wife and
Mom who keeps the
villains guessing in
the dramatic ending
with her ‘quick on
the uptake’ role! How
can one forget the
contribution of IS Jo-
har who plays a tri-
ple role for which he
won a Filmfare
award (a steward in
an aeroplane, an as-
sociate of criminals
and a police offic-
er) adding the comic
element with some
seriously funny
scenes of Iftekhar in
the role he perfected
over the years- ‘the
senior police officer’!
Not to mention Jee-
van in his sidekick
role (evilness person-
ified) and Padma
Khanna in a power-
ful cameo role as a
woman who gives up
her own identity for
love with one of the
sexiest cabaret num-
bers of Bollywood!
Pran and Prem-
nath have powerful
roles in the movie,
among their best so
far with the charac-
ter of Pran going
through many
changes as the plot
unravels – a lifetime
role! But as the cur-
tains go down you
will remember Prem-
nath, the dominating
villain, evil, funny
sophisticated and
vulgar, vengeful
and charming too!
I have no com-
punction in say-
ing that Husn Ke
Lakhon Rang is
my favourite
song, the de-
spair, lust, love
unleashed in this
song are a power-
ful statement and
Asha is simply…
Asha!
Govind bolo
hari gopla
bolo and O mere
Raja with their un-
dertones in the pic-
turisation are memo-
rable as is the
cute Pal bhar ke liye
koi hame pyaar kar
le… we counted the
windows once in the
song! Babul
pyaare or any other
song in the movie
for that matter, is
an intrinsic
part of the
movie and
pushes the plot
forward!
Vijay Anand is
an accomplished
director, in his
hands JMN be-
came one of the
best movies of
Bollywood till
date, a mas-
t e r p i e c e ,
a classic!
ANITA HADA

J
In Johny Mera Naam, all elements
of popular Hindi cinema are played
to the hilt and with perfection
because it was Vijay Anand other
wise with the ‘plot’ what it was and
the characters- JMN could easily
have slipped into an overdone
forgettable Hindi drama!

ow strange to
grasp the fact that
at times individu-
als become the mi-
crocosm of a state,
representing the
best of the region!
Recently venturing into a
holiday to Kerala, to shed
off the dust of routine bore-
dom accumulated during
Covid, I had gone on a holi-
day to Trivendram. Just
when winter was showing
early signs of cold in Ra-
jasthan, a three-hour flight
took us to the warmth of
the capital of Kerala.
Our soirees to God’s own
Country was limited to this
city as we, a group of
friends were availing a re-
juvenation- detox Kerala
Massage Program too with
all restrictions of Covid in
place! To avoid rampant in-
fection was our prime con-
cern. The chosen holiday
program was not the kind
that one gets in travel pack-
ages. It was a well-conduct-
ed 11-day minimum course
of professional massages,
decoctions, and vegetarian
food designed by Dr. Sreela-
ja Sasikumar, a gold medal-
ist, well experienced Ayur-
vedic doctor. Trained mas-
seuse male and
female gave
two medicat-
ed massages a day besides
facials to us. Each one of us
was examined by Dr. Sreela-
ja to gauge the ‘Tri Dosha’
fundamental structure of
each one of us and we had
individually prescribed
and designed herbal mas-
sages!! To boot it all the Ko-
valam sea beach was barely
one and a half kilometers
from the secluded Ayur
Hermitage where we lived.
So it was most natural for
us to bathe in the sea, no
swimming was allowed
due to high tides
caused by neigh-
bouring Karnataka
state’s heavy rains
and floods. Availing
the nariyal pani freely, it
was time to forget the cov-
id travails and live the
moment. Doctor
Sreelaja prac-
tices Panch
Karma as per the Ayurve-
dic scriptures with se-
quencing of Purv, Pradhan,
and Pashchat with Abhy-
angam (Oil Massages)
and other practices
of Ayurveda. In an
informal and con-
tinuing conversa-
tion, I tried to
grasp the basics
of the ancient me-
dicinal wisdom which
is astoundingly holis-
tic in its approach.
The doctor told us
that it is through
Darshana, Sparsh
and Prashna that
an Ayurvedic doc-
tor begins treat-
ment. A seasoned
Ayurveda practition-
er begins by study-
ing the physical
features of a
patient that is
Darshana, go-
ing on to Sparsh
that is examining
by touching - tak-
ing the pulse, blood
pressure, taking
temperature quite
like the allopath-
ic mode and then
Prashna, asking
questions are the
three procedures
conducted to un-
derstand the na-
ture of genetic,
physical and
mental parame-
ters of an individ-
ual.
Due to
the per-
sonalized observation eve-
ry day, every patient or re-
cipient has a satisfying ex-
perience while it allows the
doctor to modify her treat-
ment according to her ob-
servation to see if the treat-
ment is working as per her
prognosis. Rejuvenation,
detoxification, stress re-
lease, arthritis pain relief,
weight reduction programs
are the general programs.
These are combined for spe-
cific ailments and lots of
select panch karma ele-
ments are added to benefit
the recipient. Dr. Sreelaja
feels that in today’s mod-
ern-day, fast-paced and now
Covid induced complica-
tions and physical and men-
tal health issues, Ayurve-
da’s holistic approach is
more effective.
It is being recognized
now that over-medication
and an unhealthy way of
life lead to lifestyle and oth-
er diseases. On a personal
note, the abhyangams given
to me were Pidikizhy (Pow-
der Bowlus Massage) which
proved effective for my
knee pain and cellulite, Ud-
warthanam again is a dif-
ferent kind of herbal pow-
der massage that helped in
reducing weight and fat and
gave a glow to my skin. One
rejuvenating massage giv-
en to me was Pizhichi (Oil
Bath) which was virtual
bathing with oil and vigor-
ous spot-specific massage.
It helped me to lessen my
joint pain, improved mus-
cle toning and reduced
backache.
This particular massage
is good for those suffering
from paralysis too. Like
Shiro Dhara, one oil bath
administered to me was
Pad Dhara was like heaven.
The doctor encouraged us
to go to the beach which is
at a walkable distance just
from the center.
Our visits to the Kovalam
beach were very relaxing,
water-drenched and of
course hilarious. Amazing
to feel what pure laughter
and the moment of being a
child once again can do to
one’s psyche. We were chas-
ing the waves, picking up
shells and drift woods. The
serene experience of watch-
ing the sun go down the sea
slowly, feel the intermixing
of colours on water and sky
,
to feel the oneness of all ele-
ments at that moment is not
only spiritual, it is thera-
peutic also. There comes a
gradual acceptance of the
fact that we, the humans
are a spec only in the eter-
nal scheme of the universe.
Serene submergence of
one’s ego dawns as one
watches the sunrise or the
sunset on the sea. Next
were the exciting visits to
the Aazimala Shivakshetra
temple with its magnifi-
cent, massive Shiv sculp-
ture that rises against the
blue of the Arabian sea
near Pulinkudi village and
of course the Padmanabh
temple ( No pictures al-
lowed) reinforce a sense of
being a part of the majestic
tradition, and one’s place in
creation, this earth and the
universe. Still very satisfy-
ing was the walk through
the weavers’ village – Bal-
ramapuram.
The weavers of the vil-
lage are beginning to recov-
er from the covid – blast- clo-
sure now and we went to a
well-functioning unit to see
the mostly female weavers
working there. – Some of
them were graduates!! It
was a delight to buy pure
woven towels, sepia-toned
or cream white Sarees with
exotic borders and Ang-Vas-
trum with coloured zari
borders on cream white
cloth.
The prices were unbeliev-
ably low as compared to the
markets. Not to mention the
spices that grew in the sun-
kissed jungles cultivated so
beautifully! One regrets the
restrictions of baggage
weight as one goes berserk
smelling, buying and still
wanting more of the cloth-
ing and spices. We do know
now why Kerala is called,
God’s own Country!!

It is the most awaited
time of the year and
we can’t help but gush
about it. While
speaking to our
readers from
Rajasthan,
Ahmedabad, Uttar
Pradesh, Delhi
and across the
world, we got to
know about the
various
specialities
and
traditions of
Christmas!
efore the be-
ginning of
New Year, we
also look for-
ward to the
most await-
ed season of
the year, CHRIST-
MAS! The air chang-
es with the begin-
ning of this season,
quite literally.
There’s joy every-
where, tunes of hap-
piness and cakes,
among others. It is
believed that Christ
the saviour was born
in a manger among
the sheep and horses
where Virgin Mary
held him close in the
wintry night and re-
joiced. The King was
born and the Magi
came to worship him.
Let’s hear from our
readers how Christ-
mas is celebrated
among them!

CAKES!
Cakes are one of the most integral part of
the celebration. The plum cakes added with
walnuts, raisins, cashews and a little bit of rum
among other ingredients. With my bakery Tasty
Bites, I offer what I can and help everyone
make this season even more special.
—Vinit Samuel Joseph
Christmas isn’t just
about celebrating but
spreading happi-
ness. One of the
most symbolic
figure for this season
is Santa Claus. Kids love
him, everyone loves him, I
paint my old bottles and make
something very creative out
of them and present it to my
loved ones. —Anju Mary
Me and my family have a
tradition of sending cards
and greetings to our loved
ones rather than just
WhatsApp messages because when a wish
is sent in a physical form, it brings more joy
to a person. One of the greetings being: As ‘21
comes to an end, we wish you all the best and
Merry Christmas. —Bibin Jose and Pooja Sajeesh
GREETINGS!
Most of the time
our family members
aren’t together due
to work and other commitments but
during Christmas, all of us gather
together and decorate the tree and it
is one of the most joyous feeling, to
be around people that we love and
cherish. —Bevin Mandis
‘TIS THE SEASON
This is a travelling man’s
tree. I can’t remember
where I got it, but it
always comes with me.
Minimalist. Star on top,
no other decorations,
it’s perfect beside baby
Jesus and a candle in the
O, Holy Night.
—Fr Garrett Gundlach, SJ
Even before Christmas
begins, me and my
fellow mates gath-
er and sing carols
proclaiming the arrival
of Christ. One of my
favourite carol being, O
Holy Night, I also enjoy
singing Blue Christ-
mas. These songs
rejuvenate the spirit of
Christmas within me.
—Colin Jobard
We love the colours and joy that
Christmas brings. We like to
celebrate this season of cheer
by giving away things such as
clothes, food, greetings among
others. Needless to say, we also
enjoy dressing up in the Christ-
mas cheer!
