Writting dear sir
1. CARTA Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writingto expressmydismay at the service at your Eden Hill branch on Saturday 14
January.
I oftencollect prescriptionsfromthe pharmacy on behalfof my grandmother, Mrs Elaine
Bingham. On this occasion there were two prescriptions:one for 10 x 50 mg Kendomol and one
for 50 x 100 mg Leoprone.I was servedquicklyeventhough there appeared to be only one
pharmacist on duty. However, as I was leavingI saw that I had beengiven500 mg tabletsof
Kendomol. This isten timesstronger than the prescriptioncalledfor.
If I hadn't noticedthe difference betweenthe prescriptionandthe actual tablets, my
grandmother could have taken a dangerousoverdose of Kendomol.I wouldbe worriedabout
gettingany future prescriptions at Eden Hill.
The pharmacist apologisedand corrected the mistake but I wanted to bring it to your attention.
I think it happenedbecause there were not enoughstaffon duty. I understandthat mistakes
happenbut there needsto be a minimumof two pharmacists at all timesso all prescriptionscan
be checked.
I hope you can take steps to make sure this mistake doesnot happen again.
Yours faithfully,
Roger Bingham

2. EMAIL Dear ProfessorHenley,
I am writingto informyou that, unfortunately,Iam unable to continue to attend the Logic II
course thissemester.I wouldlike to requestpermissiontodeferas I understandthat this isonly
possible withyour approval.
The issue is that I am currently doingan internshipwith ABC Ltd. It started in Julyand will
continue until the end ofthe semester. The internshiptakes up 25 hours per weekand I am
concernedthat it doesnot leave me with enoughtime to study. I have already asked ifI can
reduce my hours there, but thisis not possible.
Withyour approval, I couldtake Logic II nextsemesterinstead.I realise that this would mean a
heavierworkload than usual next semester, butI assure you that I wouldbe able to manage my
time and keepup.
Thank you for consideringmy requestand I would be happy to come in and discuss the matter
further.
Regards,
Sarah Price

3. ENSAYO Information will soon be so easy to find on the internet that people will notneed to remember
anything. Do you agree?
Nowadays all the information we could ever need is availableonlineand some people say that means the
end of havingto learn anything.
It is true that these days everything you want to know is a few clicks away as longas you haveinternet
access. However, not everyone has workinginternet all thetime, for example in certain buildingsor remote
locations,so we do need to be ableto remember information. Moreover, ittakes time to look up everything
you need to know online, whereas remembering something is immediate. The human memory is a much
more efficient system.
Another problem is the quality of the information online. How do we know if itis accurateor reliable? We
need to think about other facts we know and remember how to compare information from different
websites. Knowing (and remembering) how to find certain information will bemore important than knowing
the information itself.
Finally, theinternet is a good tool but it is not a useful replacement for our brains. If we did not remember
anything, we would all spend even more time on our phones and computers than we already do,which is
not good for society.
In conclusion, the internet offers us many things but it is still importantto use our knowledge and memories.
We need our memories to function without the internet and we also need to know how to usethe internet
properly.

4. Why is good the technology in our lives?
Nowadays, technology is more indispensable, becauseof our use of technology as a tool for communication
or for entertainment.
Firstof all,I think the technology is necessary for quotidian lifebecauseof easier to make things, for
example, with the internet you could find information all kind, sinceentertainment until news in real -time.
As a result, the smart-phones can be used to makes video-callingand transmitin live.
However, technology helps to scienceto cure sicks, or make bioprosthesis.
Finally,in terms, technology is excellent, however, some people make bad use, for example, steal
information or extortion the people itdependent.
In conclusion, technology makes easier communication, and help people in question entertainment or find
information.
