7. HOUSEOF REPRESENTATIVES
US POLITICALSYSTEM
The legislative branch consisted of
2 chambers (Congress). The House
of Representatives and the Senate.
House of representatives is elected
every two years and can concur
with the presidential election.
There are 435 members. Each
house member represent a district
that generally comprises between
750,000 to 850,000 people. Each
state has at least one
representative and number of
districts are depending on state’s
population. The Speaker of the
House is elected by house
members and third-line of the
presidency
8. SENATE
US POLITICALSYSTEM
The upper chamber has a total of
100 senators. They are elected at
6-year term and by state. They are
divided into 3 class and so have
different election period. One of
their duties is to confirm judges
and executive cabinet members.
10. US POLITICALSYSTEM
EXECUTIVEOFFICE
People elect the president of USA
through the electoral college every
4 years. An absolute majority is 270
electors out of 538 electors. Each
state has different electoral votes
and majority is given at winner-take-
all basis. Two states, Maine and
Nebraska allocate their electors
based on the district votes. The
president can nominate cabinet and
justices, but it must be approved by
majority of the Senate.
Primary election (party election) is
done before the general (it also
applies for congress and senate).
12. JUDICIAL BRANCH
The Supreme Court consisted of 9
justices. All are nominated by the
president and confirmed by the
Senate. They are life-long justices
meaning that they are elected until
their death or resignation.
