ACHIEVEMENTS IN BINGHAM UNIVERSITY
I have completed, successfully, my two terms of ten
years tenure (April 2006 – March 2016)with one year extension (April
2016 – March 2017)during which I, among other things,
1. Set up successfully from the scratch Bingham University Library
including the Branch Libraries on the main campus and Jos campus,
the E-Library, and reprographic and binding services.
2. Networked the University Library systems
3. Automated successfully the University Library operations using an
open source software designed for implementation in Developing
countries - NewGenLib
5. 4. Carried out the development of the University Library website
5. Sourced and obtained from Books For Africa a 40-feet container
load of books of between 17,000 - 22,000 volumes
6. Developed a proposal with an innovative curriculum for a new
degree programme in Library, Information and Knowledge Enterprise
Management (LIKEM – pronounced Like Me)for Bingham University
7. Grooming a crop of highly motivated Library staff (Librarians,
Library Officers and Junior library staff)for the continued
development and operation of the University Library’s physical
and electronic resources
8. Undertook a University - wide Awareness programme on Open Access
9. Chaired the Committee that wrote and delivered the University’s
Business Plan
10. Chaired the Publications Committee of the Convocation Planning,
Endowment Fund and Ten Years Anniversary Book Launch that
