4. Comparison
Comparing the design work done on my preliminary “Sidmonthly” collaboration,
my abilities and techniques have improved greatly. The front cover designs now
look sophisticate due to developments within my understanding of Photoshop and
Microsoft Publisher. The final designs for both the preliminary and main task show
a huge difference in skill and the appearance is much better. The use of cover lines
to fill space has become a technique which has developed with every stage leading
to the final design after advancing from the original preliminary appearance. The
contents pages have become much more detailed, with more articles, images and a
much better layout. There is very little connection that is apparent between any of
the codes used in my preliminary and my final design. This is probably due to the
design and conventions of an acoustic magazine differing greatly to that of a school
magazine.
