2. REASONING
I have decided to do a piece of research on the movement
of cameras within movies etc. I have done this research as
it will be essential that I will need to know a range of
movement while filming my film opening to create a
professional finish. A range of movement will help me in a
variety of different ways depending on the genre of my film,
therefore having this sort of background knowledge will
help me massively and have a huge affect on the finish of
my practical work.
3. Panning
Panning is when you move the camera in use either from
left to right or right to left horizontally, in order to follow the
action or set the scene. The camera base stays in the
same position throughout, however the camera follows the
action. For example, in an action movie when a car speeds
off and the camera follows the action.
4. Tilting
O Tilting is when you move the camera in use vertically up
to down or down to up in order to introduce a character
into a scene. The way in which the camera moves
depends on the characters status in the film, for
example if the camera moves down to up then we are
able to assume that this character holds importance, this
is because it makes the audience feel smaller that the
character in the shot.
5. Dolly shot
A dolly is when you move the whole camera in use
forwards and back, normally on a fixed track. This
movement helps follow the action in a slower manner, for
example is characters are walking and talking at the same
time a dolly camera movement is used. This movement
helps to keep the camera fixed at one point which creates
a professional finish.
6. Crane shot
The camera in use is placed upon a crane which allows the
camera to gain high angle shot/ establishing shot. Normally
used at the start of a film however can often be difficult to
pull off.
Hand held shot
The camera in use is held by a camera man/woman. They
follow the action filming with the camera in their hands.
Normally used to create a sense of reality but doesn’t give
a very professional feel.
7. Low angle shot
A low angle shot is filming a scene very close to the ground
which emphasizes the size/power of a character. It helps
the audience to understand the status of a character
High angle shot
A high angle shot is where a scene is filmed above the
characters heads, this emphasizes on their innocence/size.
It helps the audience to understand the characters status.
