Process Memory Allocation Issues: External vs Internal Fragmentation

Process P1 is allocated 8 MBs but is only using 3 MBs, leaving 5 MBs unused. Process P2 needs 2 MBs but there is not enough contiguous free space in P1's allocation to accommodate it, resulting in external fragmentation. This issue is an example of non-contiguous memory allocation causing external fragmentation.

It process P 1 is allocatod 8 Mbs and is using only 3 Mbs of it. Another process P2 only requires 2 Mbs however it cannot be accommodated in the fixed space allocated for P1. The issue is called external tragmentation internal fragmentation contiguous memory allocation non- contiguous memory allocation
