Statement of Support (Eszter Bakody-Brown)
I currently work as an Orthopaedic Nurse Practitioner at Parkside Hospital, London
and as an Honorary Senior Nurse Lecturer at Kingston and St Georges University of
London.
I pride myself on being a competent professional with high standards, a positive,
progressive attitude and the ability to rise to a challenge. My clinical post as an
orthopaedic practitioner is a wonderful opportunity where I am able to expand my
existing specialist knowledge in orthopaedic nursing and I am able to see the
continuum of care, especially the period prior to and following the inpatient stay.
Being the orthopaedic practitioner for hospital enables me to work in advanced
clinical care, be autonomous, provide advice and have the ability to inspire better
patient care. I have a great deal of satisfaction as a professional and I feel that I make
a difference in my patients’ care.
I have recently taken upon an exciting academic role as senior nurse lecturer in a
university setting. My present post at the university centres around basic and
advanced clinical skills teaching and mentoring students at pre and post registration
levels. I also contribute to post registration modules such as physical assessment
course and orthopaedic course.
I hold a physiotherapy certificate from Budapest, Hungary, which contributed an
added dimension to my professional development in orthopaedic nursing care. This
background in physiotherapy placed me in an ideal position to educate students on the
basic knowledge of bone and joint physiology and the different types of fractures.
Since 2012 my role as the Orthopaedic Nurse Practitioner includes running a bone
health/Osteoporosis screening service with a Consultant Rheumatologist, Senior
DEXA Practitioner and with a Senior Specialist Physiotherapist.
