CAREER OVERVIEW AND ASPIRATIONS
I am a UK-trained doctor who is passionate about providing excellent clinical care through the
application of evidence-based medicine. I have a strong interest in research and a depth and breadth
of experience in patient-facing roles. In addition I am experienced in management of both clinical and
non-clinical staff. I wish to develop my career, using my existing experience and skills, by becoming
an MSL. This seems to be the perfect role for someone with a scientific background, a thirst for
knowledge and good people skills.

EMPLOYMENT SUMMARY
Dandenong Hospital Emergency Department Registrar - May 2014 to present
This post involves dealing with a wide variety of clinical presentations from minor illness to life-
threatening conditions and includes liaising with hospital specialists to achieve the best possible
patient outcomes. I was nominated for “employee of the month” in November 2016 reflecting my
good team working skills. I am actively involved in the recruitment of patients for a trial of intravenous
medication in the management of migraine, according to clinical guidelines and protocols.
General Practitioner Mornington Medical Group - May 2012 to present
This position requires me to treat both acute and chronic problems with in-depth knowledge of a wide
variety of conditions. Through effective networking with specialists, I have easy access to up-to-date
advice if I need an expert opinion. By attending frequent education and training events, as part of my
continuing professional development, I more than fulfil the Royal College requirements. In my role as
supervisor of GP Registrars, for Education Victoria General Practice, I am involved in giving feedback,
mentoring, formal and informal teaching and assessing competency to ensure patient safety.
Locum GP in various rural areas of Australia - from 2012 to 2015
Since arriving in Australia in I have been a locum doctor in remote locations in Tasmania, Queensland
and Victoria, allowing full time rural GPs to take leave knowing their patient’s still have access good
medical care. These posts often require problem-solving skills in addition to medical knowledge due
to the logistical challenges inherent in serving a remote location. Preparation by up-skilling, through
emergency training courses, before these placements helped me manage emergencies safely and
appropriately.
2. Partner in General Practice, Leamington Spa, UK 2006 - 2012
During my partnership I recruited patients for clinical trials, in collaboration with the full time research
nurse at the practice. I was co-investigator in a global ACE inhibitor trial involving overseas travel in
Europe. Other roles included representing the practice at meetings of the Primary Care Group
(requiring collaboration with stakeholders) and feeding back to my fellow business partners. As a
group we jointly managed the business affairs of the practice. I was often involved with personnel
issues; specifically dealing with fitness to practice concerns as part of clinical governance. I was
actively involved in reaching targets, set by the Department of Health, for the Quality and Outcomes
Framework (QOF). The practice achieved excellent remuneration, through performance-related pay,
by meeting these clinical targets.
Medical Educator, University of Warwick, UK 2006 - 2008
During my time in post I wrote and presented an ENT teaching course for medical students -
managing the project from start to finish. The course was intentionally practical with some small group
work in conjunction with formal lectures. I requested feedback and made every effort to modify the
course accordingly. I facilitated succession-planning by training other GP tutors. The course is still
ongoing, in its original format and has received very positive feedback from students.
