1. QUESTION 1: IN WHAT WAYS DOES YOUR MEDIA
PRODUCT USE, DEVELOP OR CHALLENGE FORMS AND
CONVENTIONS OF REAL MEDIA PRODUCTS?
2. QUESTION 2: HOW DOES YOUR PRODUCT
REPRESENT PARTICULAR SOCIAL GROUPS?
My product represents the people who
are in Group E this is because they are
students and they are casual and lowest
grade earners Unemployed. From the 7
psychographics I am choosing the
Struggler this is because it fits in with the
characteristics of the main character
Danika as she is Alienated, Struggler and
disorganised. And I also choose the
Explorer because these people are
Energetic, they like challenge, adventure
so it poses the ideas of youth and what
their like. I also choose that my product
will be targeted at a niche market
because its only specific for teens this
means that I would only want my product
to be directed at teens so that they will be
aware of my film and be able to access it.
3. Q3. WHO WOULD BE THE AUDIENCE FOR YOUR
MEDIA PRODUCT?
For my product we are aiming to
target a niche market this is
because my product is clearly a
teen horror so this meant that my
main target audience had to be
teens.
For my product we are aiming for
the category of group E this is
because they are students who are
unemployed meaning they still
depend on their parents.
Overall I choose these two categories because my film is a teen horror
movie so I need to target the audience which are most likely to
purchase or view my film.
5. Q5. WHAT KIND OF MEDIA INSTITUTION MIGHT
DISTRIBUTE YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT AND WHY?
In order for me to choose which instruction I wanted my movie to use I had to go back and look
at my research of the inspirations that I used to help me pin point my movies. These where two
movies Carrie which was Distributed by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and Screen Gems, cyberbully by
Muse Entertainment Enterprises Gaiam and premiered on July 17, 2011 on ABC Family then ABC
Family worked with Seventeen magazine to make the film . From this I had to consider the
reasons why these movies used theses distributors I thought this was mainly because Carrie
was an independent film therefore they had to use independent distributors to attract their main
audience. Both of these films are independent films. This meant that as my film was pretty much
similar I thought best that I also make my film an independent film to be able to attract the same
audiences that these movies attracted. From the findings that I found I decided to use ABC
family because they are an American television network a subsidiary of the Disney-ABC
Television Group division of The Walt Disney Company who offer contemporary and family
programming, including off-network syndicated reruns and original series, feature films and
Made-for-TV original movies, this meant that it would be easier for them to attract my target
audience because teens love to watch American movies so they would be straight away
attracted to my movie.
6. Q6. WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT ABOUT TECHNOLOGIES FROM THE PROCESS OF
CONSTRUCTING THIS PRODUCT?
IMovie
At my first though of
iMovie it seemed difficult
however as I got use to it,
I felt a bit more
confortable with the
program. I learnt how to
put my shots together, in
order to make them run
smoothly together.
Digital SLR cameras- cannon EOS
550D
from using the Digital single-lens
reflex cameras I learnt the way in
which the camera works to be able
to use it , by the image that my
group was filming had to go through
the view finder the image that is
captured by the camera's sensor. I
also learnt how to use the vital parts
of the camera e.g. the zooming and
the lighting.
YouTube
I had to use youth frequently
to use it for my research
findings, YouTube was a
great help to me because it
helped me watch trailers of
the movies that inspired my
movie, also allowed me to
watch music videos to see
what sound I should apply to
my movie.
Lighting
I learnt the effects of the different
shades of the lighting in order to
choose the perfect one for my
group.
Later had to decide not to use
lighting because we wanted our
movie to be real life a bit more
realistic using natural light.
