Duties: To oversee the daily operations of a large scale, high-volume photography lab and its
staff – technicians, assistants and color correction specialists. Began at an entry-level position in
the Shipping Department, but over time expanded responsibilities to those of a positive,
influential leader in a salaried management position overseeing forty employees over two,
overlapping shifts. As Lab Manager, responsibilities involved supervision of employees over three
Durst Theta(s) 76-HS, one LPS 24 and seven Noritsu 34Pro(s). Maintained a daily product output
of between 50,000 to 120,000 prints/day (production volumes based on sales and varied
according to season.) Major Responsibilities:
- Oversee and maintain print quality and equipment at the highest of industry
standards.
- Communicate effectively among multiple shifts, departments and organizational
levels to ensure continuity and high quality, on-time product delivery.
- Train new hires on the principles of the photographic process and color theory for
application to the production process.
- Maintain color management and ICC profiling on all color correction stations and
printers. Generate machine/emulsion specific profiles and perform routine calibration
of monitors.
- Maintain and safely operate automated photochemical mixer and silver recovery
units to protect the physical infrastructure (plumbing, etc.) of the photographic
facility.
- Work with individual clients on customer-unique projects. Special requests included
custom framing/mounting, specific emulsion (and correct application of various ICC
profiling) print sizing, special color-management, etc.
- Assist customer service to respond to client questions/concerns related to any stage
of the end-to-end photographic process.

other initiatives to identify corresponding production capacity needs and adjust as
needed.
- Renew machine contracts, e.g., Noritsu, Durst, Kodak, based on forecasted sales
growth and other requirements.

- Train staff on all safety procedures, (MSDS - Material Safety Data Sheets, JHA – Job
Hazard Analysis, Right-to-Know laws, etc.) including the use of personal protective

state and Federal mandates (OSHA; NIOSH)
- Perform fire safety training, including drills in evacuation procedures.

printing photographic images developed from digitally created negatives. This involved finding
the methods to make the two media of digital and analog occur with the same technical and
